This is gold - thank you. We all see keyboards on stage with some real heavy bands and yet nearly all synth material online seems to feature techno or dance tracks. Something I have no stomach for!
@@mammothaudioengineering No, nothing specific. I'm just a metalhead guitarist who got into producing electronic music a few years ago, and I just like learning everything I can!
I appreciate the way the topics are presented. If you could.... will you please recreate a distored synth sound to follow metal guitar riffs. As an added note... I kind of like HELM... what other synths you like for this genre? Thank you for all the time, effort and detail invested in your videos
I know I am late to the party on this one but that song could easily be an Anime theme song proper attack on titan vibes lol. I love synth stuff in metal it works so well and a lot of people sleep on it! Look at the browning. God damn
1. I hope this video can kinda remain timeless, since it's just a basics lesson on synths! So no, you aren't late to the party. 2. I love anime, and I love AoT. I appreciate the kind words!
Thanks for the vid man! I've had a MicroKorg for years and I really want to get using more for parts and leads. I have a Zoom MS50G guitar multistomp and a Red Panda Particle 2 for granular type sounds.
@@arjunjsatheesh8899 I did a breakdown of a cover I did which was all based around synths. It's not a metal song, by far, but maybe it's still something you enjoy. ruclips.net/video/rez5GF0eUsM/видео.html Part 2 is linked there as well
Appreciate this great information. New sub. I'd like to see a similar video but with piano. Also, I'd love some content on creating sonic transitions between parts of the song. Along those lines, some tips on adding percussion elements.
Thanks for the suggestions, gonna try and cover a few of those bases! Also, maybe check out my videos on drums and how to program, that might / should give you some ideas for transitions!
So..how do we mix those with guitars and the rest? I use presets and they are so harsh, i cut or do LP filter and the thing hust get so dark ut doesnt work. When i say i cut i go around 5, 4, 6, 3khz and is useless.
Fair question. Firstly, I would say is, it starts with the source tone. If the synth is too harsh from the beginning, work on the tone there. Dial back the high end and see what happens. Next, try distorting it. Yes, seriously. Not too much, but try putting the synth through a guiar amp plugin and see how it will smoothen it immediately. I did a complete mix breakdown of a cover I did, that was very synth heavy. If you want, check it here: ruclips.net/video/rez5GF0eUsM/видео.html There's a second part, too. Also, feel free to ask me more questions. I'll gladly help and maybe even make a video. Thanks so much for watching, Washa!
He’s Exactly right . You have to find a good overdrive pedal tho. I use an ocd on The high setting with tone all the way up, distortion all the way down, and volume to match the original. It fatten it up , helps it stand out, and takes away the fizzy digital sound. Tube screamers also kinda work believe it or not. Remember…. Turn your gain all the way down.
Hey Manas! Yeah, that sounds interesting. Do you want a video on how to use a synth at the same time to make the lead guitar thicker? Or what exactly do you mean?
Yes! Then you cut contact with the outside world, cause that's what the internet is for. Have all food delivered. Work remote, only, so you can completely sedate at home, too.
