Great overview Lee. I have this camera and I use the cable with USB C on one end and red phono jack on the other end (I believe it's labelled DJI). That cable plugs right into my Orqa goggles AV IN and works great for viewing the settings menu.
I’m glad that I have the run cam pro, love the video quality of it and even though I’m a bit of an amateur I’ve managed to use gyro flow to improve the video.
Fantastic review, Lee! Thanks! 😃 I have a few Hawkeye cameras and really like them! I absolutely agree that they should up their game with this one, but if you compare with the first RunCam attempt, the one that just recorded in 1080P, this one is much better! Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Hawkeye, I believe, put out a camera many many moons ago, the Firefly 4K. It was a glorious little camera, like a Mobius on steroids! Unfortunately it was very very flimsy, the opposite of what made the Mobius so popular, and as such the Firefly never really took off. Too bad. Maybe round 2? Just about a month ago, I spent roughly the same amount, $60 US, on a slightly used Insta360 SMO 4K, and also have a Insta360/Caddx Peanut - but would give the RunCam Thumb a shot if I was in the market, probably not this Hawkeye though, maybe the 2nd version. Thanks again, as usual, as always Sir!
Wow a sunshine day in Britain, who would have thought. Sorry let's face it what little I know about British weather come from the Tele. Big fan of your channel good information . Sadly I have no place to fly, without driving a long distance , and spend much of my time babysitting youngest grandson, and dropping his sister off at school. The lad is at the potty training stage... good grief. He is 16th out of 18, having lost his baby status to twin girls . Enough about me . As always wishing you the best , take care.
i bought the hawkeye thumb 4k and the clarity is so awful so i dismantle the casing and adjusted the camera lens and now the picture is ever clearer compare to my gopro hero 8 black
@@relaxvideo3d remove the four screws, access the camera lens u will notice it is glued so remove the glue by plucking it with a pin then turn the camera lens clockwise just less than or a 1/4 turn then test first the camera... just reapply glue after focus has been corrected
sadly no, just tried it and it doesn't fit. there's two teeth horizontally that hold it on the hawkeye, while there's 3 teeth triangular for the thumb v1. you would have to grind down one of the teeth on the hawkeye.
I'm real curious if it's more durable the the runcam, I have gone through 8 of the pro and pro-w! the runcam pro's just keep dying on me, it just doesn't like being bumped at all, even just disarming a foot off the ground like I do to land in grass or to prevent air mode hopping and they just quit working... I have the original 1080 version and it's been through hell!
Why not save your gyroflow output in H264... The cam records in H265 because it has terrible write speeds, but gyroflow can take in 265 and kick out 264. I cannot play a video recorded in H265 until it has been gyroflowed into 264...
That is a great suggestion and the way that I ended up translating the video for the review. However, I don't want to have to do that every time to just watch the recording.. Happy flying!

Hi! Mine HawkEye have issue with frame doubling/skipping which leads to misalignment of video and gyro data. Can you confirm, does your camera have same issue?
Resolution for Resolution, the Gopro will almost always be better. Lenses are larger and the product is more sophisticated. It depends what you want. I don't fly with GoPro here but use them in content creation. GoPro is no friend to the RC hobby... Happy flying

If we are being a little pedantic here, P in 1080p stands for 'Progressive'. There are two way to create a frame of video, 'interlaced' (where every other line is drawn) and 'progressive' where the video is drawn starting from the top of the frame and working down, line by line. In theory 1080p resolution offers better picture quality than 1080i and has become the standard in lots of places. Happy flying!

I use the Hawkeye naked 4k and the 4k split and they are pretty good. Not quite Runcam quality but it’s 1/2 the price so can’t beat it for the money

Great work here Lee, I appreciate it.. Enjoy the Breeze...👍🏻🍻👊🏻
Comprei essa câmera Hawkeye para o Tinygo e também o aeromodelo, e espero em breve fazer os primeiros testes.
Best of luck!
Thanks Lee, its 10^-10000 4k, feels like 2012
Doing all that to get to the menu is a headache 😩.

nice and thorough review

I have a few hawkeyes. There is always something ‘off’ about the video. Like shadows are too dark. Dark trees and bushes are just black blobs.
Is runcam's ND filter compatible with hwawkeye?
