Lovely. She died in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by her books and pianos and the loving grace of nature. When you live in rural remote nature, you develop a deep relationship with your natural environment; and you’re never completely alone.

Sorry you think it's so romantic, but it's not, do you have experience with death and being alone, where you never see anyone or people talk to you? It's lonliness that you don't know how it feels, a lonliness that gets into your soul and breaks your heart, just like it is when my husband died almost 3 years ago and left me alone. My daughter died at 12, I have no other children, and it's not a joyful one with nature feeling, it's a deep down sadness, like you have been forgotten forever, and there is no more to your life!

I hope that my interpretation is not misconstrued. I am 64 and a Grunden.I admired the fact that you are so gentle. I come from a place in history where it is uncomfortable to trust. I am sorry say that I am and was eager to enjoy the relics of this precious person. I also am dumbfounded by the fact of the inherent. And.... that brings to the reason I spoke up in the 1st place. It really staggers me to think her daughter never returned to deal with thecestate. This seems to happen a lot in these abandoned homes, or do the authorities make it too difficult?
At least the house has now been enjoyed by explorers and a local cat! What a timepiece this one was.
Maybe the daughter has passed away & there was no will so the property automatically finds itself owned by the government. It's also a possibility that the owners not interested in the house/belongings & is waiting their chance to get a buyer for the land as land is more expensive than the property.
Beyond sad..especially the chair where she sat in her loneliness looking out of the window....bless her heart
Maybe she's sitting at that chair while waiting for her kids to remember her and visit her one day

@@philiptownsend4026 yeah I totally agree with what you said,hope everything is fine and you're recuperating well been in that situation,chemo therapy is a very harsh treatment,there are times that I wished that my children are still young and I am too😂 it's ok with me to work hard as long as my children are as caring as before,when my kids are still in elementary they always cried whenever I am taking them to school there are times that my son was telling me that while he was in school he tjouy of me,he was wondering what am I doing,I was always on their minds,as soon as they stepped in our doorstep I can hear them asking where's mama?now they focused on their family and barely remember me sad but we as parents we don't have a choice but to move on with our lives,I'll pray for your quick recovery and pls do enjoy try to enjoy yourself I Know it's hard to be away from your birth place but for your own health try to relax and beat that cancer as I did before I survived coz that time my kids are all small so for them I try to survive and beat cancer I'll pray for you and smile stay happy❤️🙏🌹🌹🌹🌹

I'm so sorry for what you feel. I wish I could give you some hug to comfort you. I am 26 years old but I am the eldest among them. You know, as an eldest child I have all the responsibilities of taking care of all of them and supporting them all throught I couldn't dare not to always check on my mom's health and if she's happy. I'm always sad seeing children abandoned their parents when they can live on their own. I don't see myself doing it to anybody cause I know how it feels like to have no one. I've been watching several different channels where they explore abandoned places like you do and it amazes me on how many homes and buildings sit abandoned with everything still inside. They are everywhere. Thank you for respecting these places and documenting them for the rest of us to explore with you from the comfort of our homes. I am 42 years old and I have 4 kids so my stuff will be going to them but I'm still saddened by how many people pass away with no family by their sides. I was 5 when my grandfather passed away and we were all by his side but so many die alone and it's sad. Please hug your loved ones and cherish every moment with them because life truly is short.
How true , and right you are there are so many abandoned places with beautiful things inside when I watch these I always want to take these precious things and love and appreciate them..but alas for reasons unknown, they’ll just all succumb to time…love the music they have ,it captures the essence of every year gone by…
As an older single woman who has raised her kids. It's really sad how the children of today have no interest in what their parents sacrificed for them. Leaving them to live and die alone. Heartbreaking
They prob didn't have the money to restore it to be sale worthy & couldn't emotionally face a clear out.
My life got messed up by an abusive husband ...I left him and the church my mother raised me in..When I fell in love with a man from Germany who is so very kind to me ...My mother disowned me..She told me if I married him I would be dead to her ...I married him so...yeah..oh I was born and raised in Kentucky ..It has to do with the church she is in not that he is German ..Divorce is not really allowed ...Unless one cheats on the the other ...but abuse no ..I don't understand that...So what I am saying is ...Sadly things go on in a family that others ether don't understand or never will..I find it sad ...Not saying that is what happened to this fam..I have a sister that is wealthy ..and was always her favorite ...I talked to my dad who passed in 2007 he even saw that .

So sad to see everything left behind: a lifetime of love and memories just left to rot and decay. Where are the kids that used to be there? How could they not want the treasures and pictures?
The chair facing the window speaks volumes to me. Looks like she sat there remembering better days with loved ones and reminiscing.
I don’t know. The older I get, I’m okay with solitude. I’m happy seeing my kids get older and independent. No regret. As I type this, a red-eyed little grasshopper jumped next to me to check me out. If I could die in my sleep, as that woman did, surrounded by nature and having lived a full life with one husband, a daughter and grandkids living independently, count me among the most fortunate the world has ever seen.

The pillow is being slept on by the cat. You can tell by the footprints and the circle it makes all curled up. I always find it very sad to see these old houses with the memories just rotting away with no one to love them anymore.
If there’s a cat living there, how’s it getting fed, if the house is in the sticks,, take the cat to rehome it..
I hope a rescue could be called to set up traps and save the poor thing. I wonder how it's surviving... can it get in and out to find water and food? I guess it must be able to or how could it survive this long. But this can't be a good life... hope the kitty can be saved!

The cat also carried the persons tissues around ..and brought them up to the bed..
I have actually demolished family Farms... Because the farmer had sold the place for 6 1/2 million dollars...
And ,i spent the last few days..- with the 90+ year old farmer..- right before he passed...🤧
It is difficult to tear apart 50+ years of family work and memories...Because now:... all that property ,
has become a massive housing development...”McMansion Ville”

@@daniellemcbride5865 Unfortunately when the location is revealed not everyone is as respectful as Adam Mark. I've seen great time capsule buildings looted and trashed within weeks of a location leak.
I don't understand why anyone would abandon such amazing family heirlooms.

agree, strange thing is when you're young sure seems like you have eternity to look forward too
this house belonged to my dads great grandmother (mary) and great grandfather, (William) the young girl in the photo on the dresser is elizabeth, and the lady in the photo on the other dresser stood infront of the lake in Canada is katy. i'll not go fully into detail, but mary pushed all family members away and wouldn't accept help and sadly she passed without anybody knowing.
Grey-Blue paint is paint that was left over at shipping yards, and taken/sold off cheaply to the workers and nearby shops. Because it was for the side of a ship, it usually only required one coat on the walls and covered/masked any dampness, so was an ideal and cheap choice.

Yep. They even used it in ALL the British prisons, police stations & maybe other official buildings. Even the floors got painted with it, lol.
My Dad used it to paint his boat, and the beach house for longer weather protection from the salt air. Brilliant! We used to have to paint the house ever year. ☺️
Wow, can you imagine visiting this family for a nice holiday dinner? It's easy to romanticize living in a lovely little farm house like this!

Not just things they left behind but also their parents. I feel sad and it breaks my heart learning that Alice lived and died alone after her husband passed away. I can't imagine her life being left alone with her children.

People are living longer now. It used to be that people passed away in their 50's or 60's and passed down their homes to their 20 or 30 something children. These days, a person dying in their 90's might have grown children in their 70's with homes, children, grandchildren, even great grandchildren of their own. I'm 55 and the idea of trying to clear out a mountain home filled with all of those things seems pretty daunting. Even if I managed to clear it all out, where would I put it? Sometimes it's enough to know that those familiar things made the person who owned them happy.
All the memories left to rot. Can imagine the old lady sitting looking out into her garden from her upstairs window. RIP to them both.

Another thought is maybe the daughter is no longer with us and their may not be anyone to save this beautiful time capsule. So sad
As I see this I realize just how fortunate we are with our 4 children! I am only 57 but raised our children over a span of 31 years. Our home has many needs and they sent us to Hawaii 3 weeks ago, then painted the front and back of our home in the color we chose! My son in law did a lot to help with our yard and our youngest watched our pups and took care of my plants. They are all getting ready to help us do so much more to restore our home! My grandkids love visiting and we are never left for any long periods of time to be alone. We have our 12 year old grandson out visiting for a month. As we get older, our home will always be an open door to the love of family. I hope our extended family will always come to see us. This is my last home.

What a beautiful untouched find. I could picture the lady sitting in her bedroom in the big comfy armchair blanket laying over her legs and looking out the window taking in the surrounding country side, or watching her children running around playing and laughing, only to do the same once her children had grown up and returned home for family visits with their own children. It really breaks my heart to see how many children from this generation just abandons everything after their parents sadly pass away, it's like they don't even care that their parents had worked so hard all their lives to be able to have this beautiful home and these belonging to pass onto them once they had left this earthly world.
I thought the same thing. How could children just walk away without a second thought to the family history they leave behind. Donate the clothes, dishes and furniture to organizations that will give it to those who are less fortunate. And if they are in need of money, they can sell some of the beautiful vintage items to a local vintage store.

so amazing! You could feel 'family' everywhere. I kept imaging a household busy scurrying around in the mornings. Children touched every room, toys and photos. It was a house that was definitly a home. I wonder if it's in the family still and just left abandoned. I hope some gr-grandchild will want to reclaim the family home land and bring the house and the farm back to life. And I hope the cat finds plenty to eat.
Just a shame a home that's well over 200 years old is being left to rot away.
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. All that love, taste, care, contemplation, effort and experiences into creating a warm, probably loving home to raise a family. Who knows what kind of ups and downs, sufferings and triumphs were experienced in that home? Or where are the subsequent generations today? All........gone. Nothing left but dust and decay. Not even memories are left.

Most of that interior is 150+ years old including the internal decor. It has plastered stone walls and flagstone floors + no ceilings in most areas. A lot of the stuff inside the house pre-dates the people that lived there
yup this life is temporary.
There are memories, there’s photos etc but only things that the family will recognise they need to find those family members because they are the rightful owners of everything in that house and that of course includes the house I hope they can be found, it reminds me about the story of the Mary Celeste everything just abandoned and left as it was a ghost ship.
you folks are always so gentle and respectful of the places you visit. So many have been trashed by ignorant folks, trashing these places. This is something which I have learned over the years. As an archaeologist I won't go into a stone circle that appears to have been a teepee ring. These were other people's homes. I love that you are respectful of the homes you investigate.
This has to be the most beautiful place you've ever been to Adam. I was totally mesmerised by this place. A place for everything and everything in it's place. Just stunning. I think if I went there,I would never want to leave. You treated the place with such gentleness. I can only imagine Lisa's face when she looks at the footage of tis wonderful place. Maybe she had three beds set up for when her grandkids visited they slept in one room..Nobody ever checks under the beds to see if things were kept there..Your voice is so calming.
The old house is like a faithful custodian to their memory, keeping everything as it was, just in case they return. It’s a wonder though that after over a decade without any heating, or any maintenance to keep the damp out the place isn’t in much worse shape than it is. The house must have been solidly built.
I'm sure her spirit roams there contently. It's my kind of home I can only dream of living in with all of my once feral cats.😻

This was amazing. In Hawaii properties are never left vacant. I love the charm of this farm house. I can imagine what it looked like before being abandoned.
I used to work for a lovely couple who had a clock like that. It's called a Day and Night grandfather clock.. They would not let me dust it as it was valuable. Why it's left there to rot , God only knows,. Makes me want to cry! My mum had a desk like the one in the room with the Chaise lounge. The old lamp by the door is called a hurricane lamp.

I love how the flat stone was incorporated into making the bookshelves. And I’m not sad about her fate. We all essentially die alone or it is our task to do the dying when it is our time. Expecting ones children to be ones comfort in old age puts an enormous burden on the youth. No debt is owed. You had those children for your pleasure and take pleasure that you raised them to make independent lives of their own.
It doesn't matter how we die....
....what matters most is how we LIVE...

I understand what you're say but I don't quite see it the same way.
The last 10 years of my life I cared for both my parents even though the never expected me to.
Was it a difficult task? Yes!
Was it burdensome? No! It was a pleasure for I learnt so much from them.
I didn't want to miss out on what little time I had left with them.
They have both since passed and I miss them dearly.
I have no regrets for all the valuable lessons shall be passed down to my daughter.
Money and objects are replaceable but time...... is not. ❤

I have been caring for both parents the last 6 years...my dad passed in 2019, so it is now just my 89 yr. old mother who is extremely stubborn and has zero flexibility in the way things should be done. I have lost who I am as a person caring for her, as she treats me like a 12 yr. old. I left my home and life to move in with her, and it has been very depressing. I love her dearly, that is why I am here. She refuses to go in to a home, and wants her independence, yet she can't even open a bottle of water. I can't leave her alone. Yes, it is burdensome to me because she is so damn stubborn. She is losing her hearing and ability to walk, but does not want to go get a hearing aid and I have to basically yell and repeat myself 3 times...it gets stressful being around her. I feel there is no quality of life for either of us...but what can I do? I'm just helping her to exist basically. No one else will do it, and she will never go into a nursing home. So, I guess giving up the last part of my life is how I can repay her for all the lessons she has taught me over the years.
@@jmb1666 I'm sorry it has been this way for you. I understand completely with carers in your situation. My best friends mother was stubborn also and refused a nursing home, but in the end her mother could no longer walk or get up out of bed. It became physically impossible for her to be cared for at home. So she made the decision to take her to hospital and told the social works that she could no longer physically and mentally care for mum anymore.
It was so hard because her mum gave her absolute hell for it. But once her mum was settled into her new surroundings she came good.
Perhaps the reason I didn't see it as a burden is because my parents did not expect me to care for them. My mother even looked into going into a nursing home herself because she didn't want to burden me. I was very lucky with my parents.
I feel for you so much and I truly hope that you pull through this.

I picture a family In happy times, sitting around the supper table, as mom or dad plays the piano, as snow falls outside and a reflective moonlight bounces off the snow that has already fallen. I love old homes....They just have a ...well homey feel..at least to me..We lived in an old farmhouse in Kentucky ...I loved that place...but we rented,and could not afford to buy it..I was so happy there..Even had some ghosts ,but I liked them..Not all ghosts are bad..I know it sounds crazy..

Loving the book shelves made from planks of wood and rocks, same with the window seats, I’m in love with this house and the land it goes with. This find is incredible, if I went there I would not want to leave. It’s idilic. It would be a tragedy to have it fall into ruin. But still a remarkable, time capsule. I hope it stays hidden and safe from vandals and thieves. This place should become a museum, a place to be treasured and saved, it’s a work of art! ❤
It feels really sad and lonely. Death is probably a really lonely experience for many but sooner or later everyone must face it. And then we too will be forgotten.

Utterly beautiful in its timeless history, so humbling to see the way life used to be for this one family so long ago.. The simplicity in which they lived and truly appreciated the genuine beauty of nature and wildlife does my heart wonders! I'm ever grateful to that family and to you for sharing what life was like so very long ago. God bless that family and you!

Each home you show us tells story. How you point out things in each room is like a page in the book. Your creating a legacy from each one you film. All I could think of was how many good times and stories at the dinner table about the goings-on in farm life. How many grandchildren waiting to lick the spoon. and how quiet days turned into years. So many memories hopes and dreams. Were are the relatives the great-great-grandchildren? So many questions!!! LOL

Yes , there was actually some really stunning furniture and clocks etc that would have been better being sent to auction and saved . Who knows though what was the reason the descendants left it all . No way of knowing the truth behind it , could be any number of reasons. Amazing explore though.

Yes this is a beautiful place, but extremely sad also.
You know she and her husband lived there a long time all of her world is in that home.
Good/Bad memories children, grand children, the struggles and triumphs how they lived where they good/bad people so much more they could have been so unbelievably interesting and caring.
Yet no one knows a single thing about them except people go in and out of her home and try to figure her out.
was there a family? So sad to pass away so alone, to lay in your bed knowing your time has come
And hope someone will find you.
I LOVE IT WHEN THERE ARE MARBLES LEFT BEHIND ALONG WITH THE OLD CIGAR BOXES WITH NICE ARTWORK. OLD RADIOS ARE THE BEST.
you feel a sort of reverance, a hush come over you as you enter the home. it won't be to long now before nature takes it course and lays the house down to it's final slumber taking with it the joy of the lives which once inhabited it. you were led to this charming bit of history I'm sure of that. you are so fortunate that you have gotten to see some of these beauties for the last time. you got to capture them on film to remember and cherish. again your camera added so much more to this then what it was. you are a very fortunate man Adam, very fortunate indeed !!!
I like this house better than any I've seen yet. Each room tells it's own story. The appearance from the outside, is like an introduction to a quaint, novel. It's beautiful, and yet it's sad, how the ceilings are falling in, and soon there will be nothing to see but a nightmarish, mess. The story turns from quaint, to frightening. It is certainly a gorgeous, home, frozen in time, and frozen right in the middle of the day, in certain people's lives. Thanks for sharing!!😊

If this had been in the US there wouldn't be anything left to look at. Everything would be trashed with graffiti written all over the walls inside and out. There is such a difference in one generation from another. My generation didn't do "artwork" that wasn't asked for. I wish we could go back to that respect of property and privacy again. America's treasures are almost gone.

amazing place. I would love to live back then without no tvs, lighting, electronics and just enjoy the outdoors and nature. Kids these days have ipads, dont want to be outdoors and just use there imagination. LOVED this home

I would love it if you would give a little more information on the architectural history of the houses you explore. It would require having someone along who knew their stuff, but would add immeasurably.

The site of the soft toys ( Badger and Golly) patiently waiting to be hugged and loved.
But sadly no one will ever return. With the exception of AWE, French Chateau this is the best explore I have seen in a while.

This is a beautyfull place, they don't see houses and furniture build like this any longer. Thank you for sharing your visit to these places. And i agree with the others who commented, you guys are respectful. you go document and not destroying anything. There was people living there and even when they passed away, they were still people like us. Sad to see that this lady passed away and everything stayed there and it is decaying. It is a really a nice home.
I wonder what happened to her Daughter and family you would have thought they would have took the house on even as a holiday home I know I would have what a beautiful home and another brilliant explore bud 👍

Thank you for showing this. I love Wales and the Welsh. To think that as we look at the lovely views and point out a house halfway up a mountain saying "How lovely, wish I could live there". Some poor soul whose life has been so hard could be dying looking down on us and wishing that we would help. Where was the family that this woman raised?. So very sad. So glad that you treated it all with respect. How long I wonder till vandals move in?

What a lovely place it must of been many years ago. I feel so sad at the things the family have left behind. So many books and beautiful things. The spinning wheel could still be used im sure.
