You ever roll so many nat ones that narratively you and your DM together decide that you deserve to drop all of your class levels until you start rolling better
I gave a character up for like fifteen sessions in a star wars edge of the empire campaign cuz of bad rolls. Went to a Hutt party, rolled terribly on perception to grab a drink, then rolled worse on my equivalent of a constitution saving throw, passed out immediately, cracked my head open on Jabbas throne, and was mercifully not dumped into the Rancor pit but a bacta tank. I then told the GM I'd make a new character to play for a bit and we made a plan for it to work out. Bad rolls make a story fun sometimes.

He was so happy to be in Leviathan the city where the Seacaster name was carved onto the world and then he truly blew it as hard as you can blow it without just strait-up dying.
worse. if he only died at Whitclaw's hands, that would be one thing, but to lead the entire cult to their deaths, abandon Alastair, jump off the nest wrapped in laundry and hung up by the feet, kill the hangman in your sleep and try to drown yourself, get pneumonia, and don't even get the killing blow on Jim.
more of the seacaster legacy would be intact if he /only/ died.
I say this with all the love in my heart for this character, this season, and Lou Wilson the human man: considering it’s a pirate city, there’s a near 100% chance that there are SO many ways to die as the son of a kingless pirate lord that would have been less embarrassing than this
Luckily, the only people who saw him eat shit are either dead or assholes. Doesn’t help in the moment though.

Ya had he died during that fight with the mind flayer he would have still been an idiot but at least a braver one. He legit got all those guys killed and then ran to save his own life. Chungle down bim was justified in his vendetta. But it made for a fkn amazing arc and growth for Fabian. I am dyyyyyinng to see what happens with him in Junior year. January cannot come soon enough.
I'm watching this compilation after the first two episodes of Junior year have premiered and our sweet sweet Fabian tried and failed twice to jump out of a van going 90 mph.
Clever of Brennan to make the fail state be “Fabian is too preoccupied with his recent disastrous string of bad luck to notice anything”
This is one of billions of reasons I like D20, I like stories with people in them. When people act like how people do.
On top of this being a human reaction for anybody, Fabian’s like 17 💀 a teenager who just got their lights trashed that bad being too preoccupied by oh shit oh god oh no is correct

When he rolls at the casino either Siobhan or Ally say that these are the ones that screwed over Fabian and Lou confirms it. This is when Ally gifts him the new dice and even tho he pretends to toss them, he does use them afterwards and rolls better lmao

@@_willow_dino_ i mean I do understand when someone doesn't buy into the idea that dice can be cursed but they can certainly have air bubbles or chips that make them roll certain numbers more often so I definitely would have tossed that die lol

i cant bring myself to watch this and relive it - it's fucking incredible that it's possible to be this unlucky!! and it matched the story so perfectly!!!
This episode was one of the most intense experiences I've ever had watching/reading/listening to a piece of media. It is truly an amazing narrative moment aided by absolutely disastrous luck. And, the way they bring it around to build Fabian's character is masterful. Dimension 20 is something special.

It did happen over the course of 2 or 3 episodes while a lot of other stuff was happening. It's easy to miss the true extent of horror in the moment.

So me and my friend have known each other for ten years and we finally got to play our first DnD campaign with each other a couple months ago. During our FIRST AND ONLY SESSION TOGETHER which lasted four and a half hours, we cumulatively rolled, I am not kidding, 27 nat ones. Between the two of us. In 270 minutes of campaign we rolled nearly THIRTY NAT ONES.
Her DM has literally banned us from playing together until we figure our shit out LMAO

This video is an absolute mood after I rolled 4+ nat 1s in two different sessions of a new campaign I started with my crew. Our rolls were so low that I actually changed to a new character that was a peace domain cleric. It helps on the low rolls but a nat 1 is still a nat 1 even with +2d4 to ability checks LOL

Look all I'm saying is relatively things were looking up after Siobhan baptized the dice
Now, as we all know, Murph does not roll low. He rolls bad. And we know that in story moments, Ally rolls amazingly. But I’d like to submit this compilation, Fabian’s Famiy in flames mechanic results (the worst of the group)- where we know that even with advantage Brennan still rolled a 1-6 twice, Kingston taking 22 tries for divine intervention (and only succeeding from bend luck) and the Gunnie gambling fiasco as evidence that Lou’s story rolls are low.
No you don’t understand, Fabian’s bad day was so canon, it warped our reality to make it so.
It only seems fitting that Fabian fails so many times. You didn't even include the Nat one that killed Gilear.
