my favorite running theme in cars right now is everyone saying BMWs look better in person after spending 15 hours bashing them online when it's first released lol.
@@myemailiscoolthat’s because BMW is actually taking risks and redesigning their vehicles, and they aren’t doing it conservatively. Despite the negative press, this has actually paid off for the Brand. Sales are finally higher than Mercedes.
It’s interesting that BMW hasn’t told the Press things that Dealers and Employees of the brand know. I’ve heard in several videos Journalists say, “well at least it didn’t get the big grille,” or “it doesn’t have split headlights.” This is something Employees knew long before this car was redesigned. BMW’s new strategy is to make every Series look unique, instead of their old strategy of make them all look the same, but different sizes. So if some people haven’t caught on yet, here’s what’s happening. 1: Only the flagship models will have split headlights. 2: Every Series will have a different grille, wheels, taillights, and headlights (except coupe’ versions, those will share the same headlights. For an example X5/X6 or 3/4).
If you look back to the BMW's of the 80's, they were more squared and tapered off design. Same with 90's to a degree, with maybe the oddest styling being the M1. But I fell in love with 2000's BMW's which were more rounded off. The beautiful angel eyes for most models. Even early 2010's BMW looked very nice and had their own style elements. Now it's like the absolute lack of styling and effort to make the car look individualized and stand out from the crowd. I feel thats mostly due to them using more CFD to design these cars, so they can eek out every last MPG possible from wind drag. I feel almost the same way about things made with AI. There's just something "off" and it lacks soul and character.
Honestly not super happy with how it looks - reminds me a lot of the 2 series gran coupe which I also didn't like much. I think I was actually a huge fan of the previous gen (what is it, f90?) and how it looked, especially compared to the other BMW offerings in 2023. I do think it'll look better in person though. Interior design is fine but while I liked BMW for not swapping over to gloss black like Audi has, it looks like they've gone to the same direction and I wish we would just get over gloss black already. It's just not a premium material and really doesn't look that nice. Matte greys or really any matte lighter material look really nice. Bring that wood from the dash down to the center console!
This is an absolutely beautiful machine. Fast, luxurious and can massage you! This is definitely better than the e-class. The outgoing was just something else though, in good way.
After having owned several 5series cars this might be the first one I`m not going to buy. Here's why: - Headlights are worse in comparison to G30 laser light - They swapped a lot of high-quality materials to plastic - A lot of classic buttons have been deleted, the freely programmable buttons (1-8) in particular - one of the most ergonomic and handy things you can have - I-Drive controller isn't as handy and precise as it used to be The car simply looks less "premium" overall than its predecessor, while it is actually more expensive.
yea the profile of the accord is similar. the accord actually looks more like an A7 which makes it look better than this 5 series but I do see the similarity here
Very good review. The 2024 530iX is my fifth BWM. I have watched several of these videos and the same things you don't like the others do or vice versa. For all of the carping about the design changes it is still a BMW at heart and it is still an outstanding luxury sports sedan. Yes, I said sports sedan. Some of us who drive the 5 Series aren't fond of cushy, drab luxury cars. Why did I get the M Sport package? Because I like the look. Those of us who actually buy the cars generally have a different set of values from the car enthusiast who just looks. Not a criticism just a fact. Here are a few other points: The new 5 series was designed to accommodate either a gas, electric, or hybrid power plant without major design modifications. That is what is driving many of the changes that you see in BMW cars. The larger design accommodates the underfloor battery in the I series and the extended dash is what most luxury cars are going to BMW is just in the lead. Check out the Mercedes E Series. Another major factor driving BMW's design is the tastes of European Drivers. We tend to forget in this country that not everything is made just for us. Some of the other reviewers couldn't stop complaining about the lack of real wood and leather which is still an option to some degree but many European drivers would rather have more environmentally friendly materials. That is not my top priority when choosing the interior of a car but there you go. The point I am making is that when you look at a European produced car take into consideration who they are competing against not just in the U.S. but in Europe and what their customers in that market want. I love driving my 530iX.
@@pepsi_kola I have friends who live in Europe who would disagree with you that all of BMW's design changes were to satisfy the Chinese but I would not be surprised if some of the changes were for that market. In this, they are no different than most automobile manufacturers with the exception of the very high end of the spectrum. As I stated, I do not like all of the changes either.

The front is pretty meh. Probably about a 5.5/10. They're too wide vs the entire front. Saying "At least they haven't gone with the other grills." Kind of displays the problem with BMW's design philosophy today. The exhaust not going to actual exhausts is absolutely inexcusable on a car at this price point. That is something Audi does on its Q3 and Q5, and it is equally as unacceptable. The rear looks as if BMW went to the new 7 series and said, "How many chromosomes can we remove before it starts to affect the car?" And then proceeded to remove all of them. The side profile of the car doesn't look right. The angle of the hood coming down from the body gives it the appearance of a banana. Not as much as the MB 4 door GT, nothing really will beat that thing. All those haptic buttons and piano black surfaces on the interior are also unacceptable on a car at this price point. Physical controls are superior in every way and simple carbon fiber or wood/aluminum will work much better. The giant display looks cheap because it sticks up and out of the dashboard and isn't consistent with the lines of the dashboard. It is an eyesore and should be better integrated into the interior. The dimensions haven't changed between the 530/540/550/M5 because they need to accommodate the V8 engine means a lot of space is wasted in the 530 that could be better used to increase the size of the passenger cabin, or move the dashboard around. The gearshift is also another criminal offense. It is the same style shifter that porsche, Audi, and VW use, which is to say, very cheap. At this price point, compared to the past. It is an insult to provide that to the customer. The 2015 5 series looked menacing. The M3 and M4 of this generation look awful. The M3 in particular looks really bad because the grills don't fit with the proportions of the car in the slightest, same with the coupe version of the M4. The M2 looks as if it were built in Minecraft and all three are using the exact same engine/transmission combination so there really isn't much difference between the three. The existence of the M2 makes the M4 pointless, you can get the same performance out of the engine for a lot cheaper and on some specs you can actually write off an M2 twice before you get an M4. In trying to make each of its cars unique it has made the brand entirely the same; needlessly horrific and downright pointless.

Unfortunately production just began on the 540i. This will be the rarest 5 Series model, because it won’t be available in most markets. The first 5 they’ll probably receive as a press car will be the i5, followed by the 530i, and then maybe a 540i by the 4th quarter of 2024 (maybe).

The complaint I have with the design is that is looks very generic.
It looks like a Chinese copy of a BMW.
Great interior, really wish Audis looked like this
Never stop making content
Nice video the 540i please
Unfortunately production just began on the 540i. This will be the rarest 5 Series model, because it won’t be available in most markets. The first 5 they’ll probably receive as a press car will be the i5, followed by the 530i, and then maybe a 540i by the 4th quarter of 2024 (maybe).
I’m glad I bought a BMW when I did bc these new ones just get worse and worse exterior and interior
Doors sounds tinnie
The styling is hideous. Interior is beautiful.
no exhaust pipes is so sad
The Dash extremly ugly, I never will buy this car with this dashboard
IMO this one is cheapened . More plastic no climate control on the back . 2023 is much better
$70k oh my. This car cost close to $400k in my country. 😢
damn the interior is 🔥
@@japanwatchconnectionok boomer
why does it look so....BIG?
I hate the fact the call this a 530, there isnt it supposed to be a 520? All marketing bs
Love it
bmw really ruined this model with all this futuristic tech stuff. i rlly miss the old days back bmw with way less screen and a manual gear box
No one thinks it looks good until 2026 and they realize it’s beautiful.
And it’s “boring” cuz it’s a 530i
It just looks swollen, as if its allergic to something…like maybe being a good drivers car?
Can’t stand that stubby trunk design. It looks like a hatchback..
But then again, the rest of the car looks mediocre
Dude seriously, who made the executive decision to put these designs through the final production model? Like I really want to see who proudly said "Yup, this is the best we have in BMW design." Because I can guarantee you this is not it. This new generation has to be the worst I have seen from BMW.
BMW is lost when it comes to automotive design. Just awful. Especially when their design language was amazing from late 70’s to 00’s
The sporty look has been lost with this model…
if you see it for real, it looks much better... i wasnt a fan when i saw the first videos... but changed my mind
it looks much better with the normal grill the I5 is hideous
Looks rather bad. 2018 model looks significantly better.
my opinion is.. "what the hell they are lousing identity"
Losing it too
Man it looks like shit compared to G30 and the LCI version…..
c300 look alike
Looks generic, lazy design, cheap materials.
"I am not feeling any sort of fatigue yet"...OK dude, shocking you really don't feel fatigued the entire 3 minutes into the drive? Good seats review. Guess what? I also don't feel fatigue on a 5 min train ride. If you have nothing to say just don't say silly stuff. You're welcome.
It’s the rims.. they suck
Look like a 2 series 😢😢
the 2012 5 series was the best looking one. this is hideous, I'm sorry....my 330i looks soooo much better.
i have seen it in person, just terrible, looks like a 2 series, shame on BMW
Ugly design
I'm confused, this looks like a chinese imitation of a "BMW" to skirt copyright laws.
What a sad design. This will completely blend in with the traffic, no speciality in the design whatsoever. Just another brick in the wall.
Looks likes an Asian version. Nothing unique about it.
U.G.L.Y.
No thanks.
kynda shit
They need to come up with there own things, they are following Mercedes and using cheaper versions of things and trying to twist it, Mercedes is innovating this to me is just such a wanna be just not it
The sunroof doesn’t open!?
Yes, if you get the sunroof option, which is standard. This one has the “sky lounge” roof, which doesn’t open.
I wish the automakers wouldn't include sunroofs/moonroofs by default.
@@rogercvc6768 an opening sunroof is standard…no cost…free. You have to pay extra to get the non opening all glass roof.
