@@jeanguytherrien933 I knew there was something you had to do but that was so long ago for me . I am thinking these particular generators you could adjust the richness right on the throttle body with a screw . I need to look into that . I have the manual somewhere in my junk pile. I also believe the regulator before the throttle body is a but different.
Nice informative video. This explains the basics very well and demonstrates how an engine can be run on NG or propane. When you decide to permanently set up an engine for this, you would want the gas to be supplied via a regulator that is made for that purpose since it will change the feed amount based on demand. It responds to venturi vacuum to tailor the flow amount. Otherwise you risk running the engine lean and doing major damage. It doesn't cost a great deal to set this up and anybody living where power outages are too common should consider it. Conversion kits are available for less than $40.
@Jungle Explorer I never ever read the video description on any video, and I doubt you read all video descriptions yourself. That being said, why not say in your video that it's for educational purposes rather than making people read your 3 paragraph description.
I've read a lot of the comments and one got my attention....when demand is added to "governed" engines the governor adds fuel to compensate....otherwise it will run lean and that can cause overheating. It's best to run engines on the rich side of the scale...it may waste fuel but the cost of rebuilding and engine buys a LOT of NG. Oh and... NG is a pretty safe fuel because it's lighter than air and won't accumulate if outside and the generator stalls. Propane, as you already know, is heavier and will accumulate....may want to mention that. Your thoughts.
A lot of what you said is in the description of the video which is quite extensive and answers a lot of questions. It is right below the video. Thanks for commenting.
this gas was made by the nazis for fighter planes . a fw 109 would run for 20 mins near the speed of a P-51 .i think it was near 430 mph , they extra heat this caused was the time limit ,this speed in turns would kill the better fighter planes and dog fights , in dives or climes it useless . your intel on an remark well is pointless . just saying , it is a nazi short of fuel thing .the water as steam makes the power plant run faster . cheap HP . Well done. Well said. Wow. The only thing I would do: is to put a "Y" item; in connectors of brass at hardwood stores. And have the Propane AND Natural Gas if one's have it. And be on hand with "On and Off's brass; in each branch of the "Y". Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us kind Sir.
This was such an eye opener! I've always wondered how to convert a small engine to propane or natural gas! Thank you for your time! Really appreciate this!
Thanks and it is quite helpful to see how to make something out of nothing. I love propane and recall how my farming relatives used propane for cost savings back in the day. we have an immense supply of propane and it should be used and supported more in our society.
I have a generator exactly like this one except it has a 240 volt twist lock plug and 2) 20 amp 120 VAC outlets instead of 4 of your 120 VAC outlets. It's a little older than yours and still runs fine. I was thinking of converting it to propane years ago when I used to have a 325 gallon propane tank in my yard. I went to a shop that I trusted and asked about it. The owner asked me if it was big enough to serve for what I asked it to do. I said just barely and he advised against converting it because gasoline back then had 115,000 BTU's of energy where propane has 91,600. For general information, gasoline today with ethanol has 120,000 BTU's. He told me that it would devalue the engine horsepower by 20% thereby essentially converting my 5,000 watt generator into a 4,000 watt generator and this was with a proper conversion using a control valve that is analogous to a throttle pump in a car engine. You do need the carburetor in your case for the throttle plate to control air intake. Without the carburetor, your engine would run wild and so would your voltage and frequency until it threw the piston and / or connecting rod out through the oil sump. Also the engine speed / voltage / frequency control governor is also connected to the throttle plate. Another problem with yours and so many other setups here on RUclips is if the engine stalls, the gas will still flow causing a potential explosive situation. Another consideration to think about is if you develop an undetected gas leak, there are 2 carbon brushes and commutator rings, similar to the ones in a car alternator, behind a 1 X 3 inch plastic strip in the middle of the the red back cover of that alternator which energizes the field coil on the rotating shaft of that unit. For as old as you say it is, If the commutator rings have become corroded or if the brushes are well worn, they WILL develop electrical sparks during normal operation that can ignite a gas cloud very easily. In a proper conversion, there is a reverse action regulator that stops gas flow if the engine quits. Most other people don't do these cheap home made conversions because they know it's dangerous. When you load that generator, the governor will open the throttle plate more. In a gasoline fueled situation, it will be demanding / drawing more gas from the carburetor to maintain engine speed keeping the voltage, frequency and amperage of the power level that you demand from it at acceptable levels. With your natural gas conversion, when your wife turns on her blow drier, she will load the generator, the throttle plate will open but there will be NO provision to automatically supply more natural gas to increase engine speed or power like a throttle pump would nor supply enough propane to sustain the demand on the engine thereby causing a lean fuel to air ratio and lugging the fuel starved engine down to a slower speed which will cause the voltage, amperage and AC frequency to drop. This can damage things like refrigeration compressors in fridges, freezers, water coolers and window A/C units and sensitive electronics like flat screen TV's and computers. It can also cause engine knock that you won't hear due to the higher ambient noise from the smaller engine and also cause expensive problems in the engine like potential holes burned in the piston or valve edges to be burned. You can run out and increase gas flow to compensate for the extra load but when she shuts off the blow drier, the engine will flip in the other direction to a rich fuel air mixture simulating a stuck float condition in the liquid gas carburetor, flooding and possibly stalling the engine and there's where the explosive situation that I mentioned comes in with your conversion. The engine stops and the gas flow doesn't. If you are in the shower at this time and don't get out there right away to shut the gas off or restart the engine, the potential problems multiply with every cubic foot of gas released. Also propane is NOT like natural gas. Natural gas is methane which is lighter than air and can float away in an open area. This is why coal miners used to keep canaries in cages and carry them toward the ceiling of the coal mines when they entered. If the bird died, there was what they used to call coal gas, which is also methane, present. Where propane is liquefied petroleum gas, it is heavier than air and will collect close to the floor inside buildings like yours if it happens to flow under the wall next to it seeking lower ground or depressions or low points in the ground outside like flowing water and if the air is still and it should it leak. If someone is walking by such a low point and strikes a match or lighter to light a cigarette, they could potentially ignite a pocket of the gas not even knowing that it's there, if the top of the cloud is below nose level and, again, the air is still. They get killed before they knew it even happened. In 1976, I was in a propane explosion when a machine operator on a road paving crew that I worked on had turned on the wrong valve on a machine and feeding unregulated pressure to the burners that was my job to ignite. There was supposed to be less than 4 pounds of pressure so as to act like a pilot light when lit, but instead, this idiot hit the main feed valve for full pressure operation at 150 pounds. I went to get the igniter and he had invisible gas spewing everywhere. I was a dumb kid back then and didn't know the danger until I found myself standing on a burning candle wick that I had to run across 5 lanes of traffic and a grass center median to escape from. My clothes has absorbed enough propane that most of my body hair had been burned off without even singeing my clothes. The hair on my head got a lot shorter and I couldn't run a comb through it for a month. My left hand and arm suffered 2nd degree burns under a denim jacket sleeve. All in the time that it took me to run across 5 lanes of traffic, about 10 seconds. So, yeah, when it comes to propane or natural gas, I'm a little sensitive about going by the book while handling it. If they didn't have to rush me to the hospital that day, I probably would have pounded the piss out of that machine operator. Good luck with your conversion.
i am a nat gas and propane tech and other than that hose which you state is a proof of concept good job i would say if you want to do this either use black pipe or copper (check local codes) and please look up a spot test for gas and run one then you know your system has integrity and is gas tight
I really appreciate you taking time to read my message about this video and writing a constructive comment. Many people do not do this and choose to vomit out vitriol because they see things that do not conform to their understanding. Thank you for not doing that.
This is useful in a pinch. The bad thing though is that your mixture will probably be off if you're powering varying loads on the generator. The governor will be adjusting airflow with the butterfly valve but the gas flow won't change accordingly. Plus if the engine dies for some reason, the gas flow won't stop, which could be bad, depending on if there are any ignition sources nearby. But this is a good cheap way to get something running in an emergency. I wouldn't leave it completely unattended though. For viewers: the proper way to do it would be to get a gas regulator and adapt the carb properly so the gas can be fed through the main jet. But then again that costs money.
If you get into old repair and operating manuals for forklifts and ag equip it's all been done before and it's really very easy if you figure out what your doing . BTW , I have some of this stuff, and have worked on it my whole life, and he is correct, Ethonol is a nightmare someone else forced on us.
Sorry, Ted, but you are wrong. I ran a 12,000 BTU A/C unit off this system all day with no problem. Are there more complicated ways to convert a gasoline engine to NG that might be better? Yes! This video was made to show a "Simple" way to do it. The video itself is irrefutable proof that this method works. One ounce of evidence is better then a thousand pounds of theory any day of the week. My question is why you feel the need to try to attack something that has nothing to do with you? What could be your motive for looking up random videos for you to attack?
People do have varying experiences and opinions based on them. My experience stated above is at odds with your claim because I've tried it, and drawn on others advice to run an engine on gaseous fuel without an OEM propane carb. Even that "leg up" was not sufficient, and I concluded that required propane carbs are a critical, precise, calibrated device. Your valve only method to power a 12,000 BTU A/C unit all day without stalling on compressor start or over-revving is hard to imagine.
Jungle Explorer You could use an electric safety gas shutoff , just for safety, if for any reason the engine quits the gas gets shutoff, But a good basic vid to explain the principle to people, Ck out a device called wastebot if you really want to move to the next level and solve our plastic /trash problem
@@trueblue2k2 it's because the natural gas or propane is already in gas vapor form. on a larger motor this wouldn't work , but it's a small single cylinder carb setup the propane / natural gas gets sucked straight in versus gasoline goes into the fuel bowl then gets sucked up the main jet into the intake that's why with gaseous fuels the motor wont bog down it has a steady flow directly in and no delay from the carb trying to suck more gasoline under load . That setup will run untill the motor fails or the gas company goes out of business lol.
I just bought a brand new little 2000w 4cycle generator tonight for $150 ,, I was thinking about buying a Tri Fuel conversion kit but they can cost over $300 bucks ,, Two times the price I payed for my little generator,, this is a great way to save money :) I can easily add a , auto shut off valve to the gas line that would turn the gas off if the generator stopped running, for a little added safety to your awesome setup :)
@@thejungleexplorer I had to watch this video again to remember, It was 7 years ago I left this comment 😃 . I did convert my little 2000w generator to run on natural gas or propane. I think I'm lucky because I can buy non ethanol fuel less than 5 minutes away for my lawn equipment. Like you say in your video normal pump fuel turns into a jello over winter and plugs up the carburetor on small engines. Spring time is a good time to buy anything using a small engine because all you need to do is rebuild the carburetor most of the time.
Interesting video. I'm amazed at how easy that was. However, as a plumber I have to say that everything about the gas setup is really dangerous. You cannot operate a gas appliance without all the safety measures in place. The gas line must be piped to the appliance. The shutoff must be at a safe distance. And a gas regulator and flashback arrester must be in place before the appliance is safe to operate.
AS I have stated many times on here; this video is a proof of concept video that shows what can be done in an emergency situation. It is not intended to be a How To video on how to permanently convert a motor to NG for long term unattended usage.
The tank on my generator rusted out so I changed to propane. All I did was drill a hole in the breather and inserted a hose that fit tight. Then used the regulator on the bottle for the propane adjustment.Simple just like your conversion. So simple that I started converting everything over to propane!!!
Very clever, I don't get all the haters though, what I took away from this video is it could be done proof positive, in a real emergency situation your generator is tri fuel capable. When SHTF I want this guy in my neighborhood, not afraid to think outside the box !
Jimmy what most people are bitching about is this asshole republican as usual with no facts blaming Obama for everything even when a republican bush did it !!!
There's an idiot light that indicate the engine shut down. In fact, everything will shut off including the lights. If he's watching TV and the electricity goes off, just go shut the valve. Probably not a good idea to run it when sleeping though.
auuu , man I love you ,,thank you so much for inventing this idea,,, I spend 20 dollors in gas now I can spend 13 dollors in a 20 lb tank that will last me a long time ,,,again thank you so much I will down load this video to keep for my days to come...
Bought me a DuroMax XP4850EH Hybrid that runs on gasoline/propane, will NEVER let gasoline touch this baby only propane! Very informative about what causes the gas to ruin your carb, thanks!
Love it. Going to do this to my generator of similar vintage. Ethanol may be corrosion to some metals but it originates as plants that absorb CO2. Ethanol is the byproduct of creating animal feed. It also uncouples us from the big oil. Case in point, Brazil has two options, ethanol at a much lower price or petroleum.
Zane Bliss Ethanol is not a byproduct of animal feed , ethanol is evil , it is a net negative, it takes more energy to make it than what it's worth. It drove the price of corn to 6$a bushel , too expensive. can't burn it to heat my house anymore.Wind Mills are a net negative also ,and the taxpayers are letting people like Warren Buffett and the other guy in Texas get filthy rich off them, They make alot of ethanol in the state where I live and it is a well known fact it's a scam just like biodiesel same principle.
That is a great question. In this simple modification form, there is nothing to automatically turn the gas flow off. So, if the engine should quite for some reason, the gas would continue to flow. The purpose of this video was to show how easy it is to convert a small engine to nature gas or propane. There are much more complicated and expensive ways to do it of course, and those ways would include a mechanism to automatically shut the flow of gas off in the event of a engine stoppage.
It Works thanks! now I've got to mess with it a bit to get it up to voltage, it just wants to idle but I'm closer to having a working gen set than before I watched your video
This video is going to help me at a crucial time. Let me thank you, and call you a good guy for sharing. I appreciate the politics, but that is tricky business. For example, how many Americans have died over oil? And you say business methods have lost ethics? You got that right. :)
Some one in my family bought a push lawn mower that was on sale for $100. As it turns out, the reason it was on sale, was because it was not made to run on ethanol fuel, and as such it has never run correctly out of the box. It starts fine, but you can tell it bounces between running at really high rpms, and really low rpms. I have tried everything known to man, and then some to fix it, even though like I said it ran like that since brand new out of the box. When nothing fixed it, I took to the internet, and found pretty much every single buyer of this lawn mower, had the same exact problem. The solution was to buy ethanol free gas. Although that is easier to find in some states, than in other, in pa and nj there is only one gas station I can find that sells it. It is in nj like 100 miles from my house. Seeing as I'm not driving 100miles one way to get gas for my lawn mower, we figured we will just run till it runs no more, then find something else. However now that I have seen this, I might convert to run on propane and see if that fixs it.
+Kevin Weil Yes. That is what I did with my riding lawn mower years ago. Still runing fine today and I have five acre lawn that I mow with it. Here is the video of that system. ruclips.net/video/b06bueSIU5U/видео.html
@@ldwithrow08 . Not so . Unless they have changed the definition of white gas ; White gas in the 1940-50-60 was unleaded gasoline & was used in Colman’s gas stoves & lanterns , never to be used in gasoline engines , as it provided NO top cylinder lub consequently destroyed the valves
This is a great video! It answered all my questions, Unlike some other videos, you explained everything. Forget the naysayers who can't produce anything but misery. Thanks for this video and keep up the good work.
The only thing that worries me on this set up is running the engine too lean and it getting too hot and burning a valve. With out an "orifice" on the gas line, you take a chance of doing that. How long have you run this under load and one time?
+TexasScout Noneofyourbusiness Hi. I know what you mean. My video is more of a proof of concept then anything else. It simply shows what can be done. It is not intended to show the BEST way to do it.
+TexasScout Noneofyourbusiness Actually, I did have not run the motor on natural gas for too long, but have run it for days on propane, using this same set up. It was during a power outage (during a blizzard) that lasted for three days. I actually powered my house off of it (lights and essentials only. Not appliances). You can watch the video of that event here. The video was actually produced in my house powered by the generator. ruclips.net/video/9Sa9M8Kn8Ik/видео.html
+TexasScout Noneofyourbusiness I have been runing my riding lawn mower for 5 years on propane using a similar set up. Still runs like new. Here is that video. ruclips.net/video/b06bueSIU5U/видео.html
I always heard natural gas does not produce as much horse power as gasoline or propane, (on a generator, as many watts). Working around generators for some years that is what was always told to us about this . But I guess it doesn't really matter if you have no gasoline available for your generator does it ? This is a great way to make sure you have a back up plan. I have an old Onan two cylinder generator set that runs on propane. These things are pretty quiet because they run at 1800 rpm . I'm going to hook it up to NG one day and see for myself how it runs on natural gas and check if it produces less power . Good video chief .
They used to run cars and trucks on coal gas in times when gasoline was in short supply. Since I want to try to make my own gas (methane) from decomposing plant matter I came here (and to similar places) to investigate the possibility of running a small generator on it if I'm successful. It looks simpler than I thought. I had the notion, quite possibly totally erroneous, that gasoline provided some lubrication to the top end and that its absence might be a problem. But it seems that engine life (not just carb, but the whole thing) can actually be extended if various gasses are used as fuels. Good video - thanks for posting.
Since my wife told me i am not supposed to post things on FactlessBook anymore, i figured i can post here. I am so happy i ran across your video. I have a very similar thought process on taking responsibility for your own actions and laughed out loud while reading your comments above. Wish we were neighbors. Thank you for the insight on running the generator on LP. I live in the socialist state of California and have come to realize power is an option here now. I am following your FB now and will comment when allowed by the wife. hahaha. Thank you!
You are welcome. There are still a lot of good people in California, it is just that you are outnumbered. I feel for you. I was born there, but crawled out of there in my diapers. LOL!
if your motor stops, and if your are not aware of it, gas continues to flow , and imagine the gas flows for lets say, 20mn... pretty bad. But your are right, it works. Not safely at all, but it works.
This has been covered already to the point of absurd redundancy. Please read my description about the video. You might find "Note 2" of particular interest. Thank you.
survivors don't worry about safety..pussies worry about safety... now, common sense is the big factor when dealing with dangerous stuff.. but you drive about four feet from an oncoming car going 60 mph, where's the crying about that? your life is only feet away from pure death every day on the highways.
Yep ask anybody that has a background in Navy/Marine aviation, the aluminum will start to exfoliate if it does not have protective coatings like anodize or alodine along with zinc chromate to protect the surface. Brass will start to tarnish and pit, just look at any pistol or rifle casing that have been wet for a while!!
15% of ethanol! In Argentina we use 7% and the quality of the fuel is terrible. Here the 40% of the cars runs on compressed natural gas. Great video and very useful.
I want everyone to understand that even though I blamed Obama for the use of Ethanol in this video, I was not a huge fan of Bush either. I did not live in the US during the Bush administration and was unaware that it was he that started the usage of ethanol. I appreciate those that corrected this error. I also appreciate David Hampton's detailed history of the actual amounts of ethanol that has been increase from 3% under Bush to 15% under Obama. Craig Miller. This is not a Red vs Blue issue. This is a fact vs greed and environment issue. Fact 1: Adding ethanol to gasoline has destroyed untold millions of small engine carburetors, which has resulted in millions of perfectly good motors being wasted and ending up as junk. This is bad for the environment because these perfectly good motors end up in landfills or junk yards and also, they have to be replaced by new products that use up our increasingly limited natural resources. Fact 2: Converting these otherwise useless motors to NG or LP gas is good for the environment on multiple levels. One, NG or LP gas burns cleaner then gasoline with ethanol. Two, the engines do not end up in landfills. Three, it conserves our natural resources because people do not have to buy new products to replace their broken ones. Forth and most importantly; ethanol is primarily produced from corn. Corn is a top food source in the world, especial in third world countries. Converting corn in to ethanol has caused the price of corn to triple and is causing famine and hardship in many places in the world that depend on low corn prices. The bottom line is this. Converting a valuable food source into ethanol is not helping the environment, it is hurting it and hurting people and it is only being done because of greed (higher corn prices and redundant sales of small engines). The purpose of my video is not to promote a political party over another, it is to show people that their engines (that have been destroyed by ethanol) do not have to be thrown away and that they do no have to be a rocket scientist to convert them to NG or LP.
Everything is not Obama's or Bush's fault. Presidents *cannot* write laws. Congress writes the bills (Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians and even Socialists) and presidents merely sign the bills into law. Ethanol has been around a long, long time and has been promoted by a variety of lobbies and political parties. I don't see a lot of E-85 fuel here, only winter blend up to E-10. www.ethanolhistory.com/
Konrad Roeder Of course everything is not Obama's fault. That would be giving him WAY too much credit. But Obama has passed many laws by executive action and bypassed congress completely. It is not the way it supposed to be done, but it is the way he has operated, because he has no respect for the constitution.
+pirateman What does anything you said have to do with ethanol? It seems like you, like so many others here, have difficulty understanding plain English. The video is about getting a few more miles out of an engine that has a bad carburetor and would otherwise be thrown away. The video is not about how to get more longevity out of a brand new engine as you want to imply by your statement, "If you want shit to last, build it out of $tainle$$ $teel." In the future, please try to understand what you are hearing before commenting. Thanks
+pirateman Von is right about the purpose of the video. Since you are not an American (as you said), you probably have difficulty understanding American English, so that is why you are missing the point of the video. You also do not understand the United States of America, our construct, our constitution, our laws and our historical traditions. You are judging Obama from a non-American point of view and in that light, depending on your own political point of view, he may appear to be a good president. But, from a strictly American point of view, he will go down in history as the worst president this country has ever had. This is not to say that he is a "Bad Person", but that his political ideologies are in direct conflict with fundamental ideas on which the union of the United States was founded. You see, The United States of America, is not just a political entity, it is an "Idea". An idea created and established by the founders of the union. These founders believed in the idea of "Limited Government". They believed that the most dangerous entity to human rights and liberty, is a government with too much power. In order to prevent the federal government of the US from gaining too much power, they did not establish a country, in the normal since, but they establish a union that was comprised of States that were "Autonomous" from the federal government. This means that each State was granted, by the Constitution, the power to rule itself. What most non-Americans, and ignorant Americans do not understand, is that, The United States of America, is NOT A COUNTRY. It is a UNION of 50 autonomous Nation States. They do not understand that the founders of this Union put in place many restrictions and blockades in the Constitution to prevent the federal government from gaining too much power and subverting the autonomy of the States. If you do not believe what I am saying here, just read the Constitution of the United States of America. You will see that it is a "RESTRICTING" document for the government. It basically says, The government cannot do this. The government cannot do that". If you read the constitution right, you will see that it's intent was to protect the people of the Union and their rights from the government by preventing the government from becoming too powerful. Obama, hates the idea of limited government. He believes that the federal government should have complete unrestricted power, even down to regulating what type of light bulb you can use. He does not respect the autonomy of the States, but has done everything in his power to, not only subvert it, but to completely eliminate it. He does not respect the limitations on the federal governments power established in the U.S. Constitution by the founders. So it all boils down to this; what is your ideology? If you believe in the ideology of Limited Government, as the founders of the U.S. did, then you can say that, as a President of the United States of America, that was established upon the ideology of limited government; Obama is the worst president this union has ever had. But, if you believe, like Obama does, that the federal government should have complete unrestricted power, then you could say that Obama is a great president. The problem is this, and this is what upsets so many patriotic Americans. Over the last 234 years of US history, hundreds of thousands of soldiers have given their lives and died defending the Constitution, which is the voice of the founders that speaks to us their ideology. Those soldiers did not give their lives so that one president can undo what they gave their lives to protect and defend, just because that president disagree with the founders' ideology. So from a patriotic American stand point, Obama is an awful president. But I have no doubt that you are right about this; there will be some non-patriotic historians (that agree with his ideology) that will look upon him favorably.
Nice Video. The engine in the video is an HM100 Tecumseh 10hp Flathead Engine. With my similar HM80 8Hp Tecumesh on a 4 kW Generac generator the fuel flow (gasoline, propane or Natural gas) at NO load 3600 rpm is about one half the full load requirement at 4kW. Thus flow rate of Natural gas has to be about doubled when the max 5Kw is added to this video's generator. In my own experiments this is doable with a dumb valve. it is sort of a pain but can be done. It is not a permanent set up or safe one for most all who assume or are careless. Refinement is by adding a "demand regulator" like the Garretson KN, this adds about 80 to 100 bucks but makes the project vary the flow as the engine needs it. That is why a typical conversion Kit for Propane/NG costs about 160 to 300 bucks. One has the added 80 buck demand regulator and custom metering venturi donut or snorkel, plus the adjusting load block valve to set the fuel to air ratio. In testing my 18Hp Powermate 8kW junker recently I ran it for about 1 hour and just adjusted the flow by the LP bottles valve. I do not want to buy a wazzo settup if the Katrina soaked unit is total junk, thus I ran it with just a tube down the carb. When one adds a load I just opened the valve more to allow more propane I ran my 4 kW Generac for awhile after Katrina with a tube down its throat and used Natural gas, when I ran low on gasoline. I taped off the gas meters tiny test port that is used to measure gas pressure and used a mix of clear hoses, none was really proper, but it worked. The bulk of folks should just have a pro install a turnkey system and spend the 4 to 20k to have a house generator and be all proper. Gas and electric stuff can be dangerous, so be carefull.
Hey chief! Thank you for explaing things like you have. I knew this would work. How do you think it would run if you feed Hydrogen gas into the engine instead of LPG? Woud it rub just the same? Im in Australia, I head about the Osprey crash in the Northern Territory this morning. Im very sad to hear about that. RIP
My pleasure. Glad to help. As far as hydrogen goes, I know very little about it other than it is hazardous. I had a friend many years ago who was working on trying to make a hydrogen engine. He experienced several explosions during testing. I never tried to mess with the stuff. I am very sad to hear about the Osprey crash as well. I pray for peace for the families of those who have been lost.
I wouldn't wholly blame ethanol gas for carb problems. Those Tecumseh engines have notoriously horrible carbs. You HAVE to have a quality inline filter in the fuel line and even then, they just clog up. You can clean them as much as you want but you're better off buying a new $30 chinese carb on eBay or doing this conversion. That's the whole reason I'm here, cleaned mine twice and it's still garbage. For a generator that sits, a propane conversion is ideal.
It's brilliant that this is running on methane or propane, but I think it will stop the governor from working when the electrical load changes. The governor wants to throttle the engine up to maintain voltage and frequency to the load, but it doesn't have control over the fuel delivery system anymore. Still, great for static loads.
no doubt ethanol is trash for current small engines, thanks for the practical video showing a clean solution for running small engines, but keep in mind its swapping a non-renewable resource for another non-renewable albeit with some extra benefits. Just an added note for someone running along this video, don't try to convert your 2 stroke weedwacker to propane, it has to have oil added in with the fuel to lubricate the engine and that would cause it to overheat and lock up. Sometimes these things are not intuitive. I've not done such a thing in case your wondering.
Methanol is a good choice for a renewable fuel for internal combustion engines. It is cleaner burning too. I am working on designing an easy to build practical (made from recycled junk) digester to make my own methanol. If I accomplish it I will make a video and post it. Another renewable fuel is wood gas. I have not done much study here, but I plan too. I hope to get an old pickup as a project that I can build and onboard wood gas run off of wood gas. It will be great because the entire forest is the gas station.
Genuis? Not really, if he was, he could have installed a tee on the gas line right there NEXT to the generator, rather running inside to adjust the valve...
Herzliche Grüße aus Österreich! Greetings from Austria! 👍 Danke fürs Hochladen! 👍 Thanks for uploading! 👍 Very good and beautiful, thank you! 👍 Sehr gut und schön, danke!
Got Gennys out here a dime a dozen. Bout all I have to do, is get a regulator. Then get a .64 drill bit and press. A pipe down till I get decent size then add a manual valve to run up to frequency by my meter that I use to check my working Gennys. Tks om .
Here is a link to some photos of a another conversion I did last year. I was given I nice Craftsman riding lawn mower that did not run because the carburetor was ruined by ethanol gasoline. I converted it to LP gas and used it all last year to mow my four acre lawn. I did not make a video of the conversion (sorry), but here are some photos. I might make a video of me mowing with it in the spring. plus.google.com/photos/118274775653594710874/albums/5984366452074779361?banner=pwa
It is outdoors, so it should be okay. But this video is a proof of concept more than anything. I originally created as kind of an Infomercial parody as a joke for my friends. I never really expected it to go so big on RUclips and still be getting views six eight years after I uploaded it.
Natural gas and propane are better than gasoline whether the gasoline has ethanol or does not. Aluminum and brass are used because of their corrosion resistance. Companies are now making engines specifically to run on natural gas and propane.
Just a few things I like your video very much and very informative . In addition the added notes are a very good thing. I liked the common sense and not the fake Americans comment I enjoyed very much. I definitely put your channel in my directory
+dale costleigh I made this video a long time ago, before I even had a channel. Honestly, I wish I could edited and change some things up and correct some misinformed statements I made. But the video is my most popular video and I do want it to lose it's high ranking by editing it and uploading it as a new video.
I'm surprised, you appear to be very smart young man however your facts about President Obama are incorrect, Please read the Energy Policy Act of 1992 under George H W Bush a Republican President this is the man that put alcohol in our gas.So please put the blame where it belongs
Robert Sutton If you would have read my notes in the description where it says, "PLEASE READ THIS!!!", you would have seen that I have made several corrections and explanation to the video there. Please come back and comment once you have read that. Thank you.
I have used ethanol gas in 3 cars and 2 lawn mowers for years now. I've never had a problem. I don't so much believe it's the ethanol. I think it's more the people that don't or won't keep their engines maintained. It's more "user" error than anything else. All carbs, from a small lawn mower to a big V8, are brass and aluminum. Withsome fuel injected systems, about the only problem I've seen is with late-model cars is the rubber or plastic hoses. The ethanol is rough on them. But, changing the hoses fixes that.
GALAXIE 500XL Bother than the issues you mentioned, the unseen issue with ethanol, is it runs hotter. Small air cooled engines, including motorcycle engines can get overheated and destroyed. Air cooled engines don't have temp gauges, so you don't know until it is too late. If you never work a small engine very hard, you can get away with it. The other issue is less mileage goes down with the addition of ethanol. Right now, the government wants to increase the amount to 15%, but it will require more pumps at each station, with the pumps to have warnings to not use the fuel the fuel in air cooled engines.
Comment made about an automatic cutoff valve incorporated in this is critical. Use only metal gas pipe and test for leaks. Vibration of engine will eventually cause leaks...........test of leaks in the pipe/flex tube (POW!) Lots of things to consider when setting up one of these conversions. The engine needs to be further from the house and protected from weather. Ventilation for engine is critical and grounding the engine properly is critical. Now, a final note, SEA FOAM fuel additive has solved all of my 2 and 4 stroke engine problems with respect to ethanol-gum up jet/hose damage. Label will tell you the volume to add per gallon of gas based on whether you are treating gas in 2 stroke or 4 stroke engine.
Well folks when you use ethanol you have a mixture of alcohol, gasoline and water, there’s not enough water to affect the way your engine runs but there’s enough to cause the mixture to gel when left to sit in the bowl of the carburetor and jelly won’t go through the jets or gas lines for the ones who don’t know what carburetor jets are but the simple way to solve the problem is to install a gas shut off valve ahead of the carburetor if your machine doesn’t already have one so you can turn off the gas and burn the gas out of the carburetor bowl until the machine stops running. I don’t like ethanol in my car because it affects the gas mileage and can cause fuel system problems in older cars that I prefer.
Everything on this video is correct except for one minor detail Ethanol was introduced to gasoline in1988,. If memory serves Ronald Reagan was the president who passed that inovation. lets put the blame where it belongs
I would add Black pipe to this and would move the exhaust away from the gas line coming into this. I also would move the gas line shut outside and get rid of the rubber hose. If the gas company fines out they could RED tag you. Great video , I would like to try this.
old video, but it shows you can plug in LP or NG and an engine will run. not efficiently, but it will run. thing is, that LPG in the portable quantities youd put on your mower are more expensive than ethanol gasoline. even figuring in the cost of a replacement carb, you're still ahead financially than running LPG tanks. $3-5 to mow my lawn with LPG vs under $2 gasoline gasoline has more potential energy than LPG or NG. nowadays we'll just clean the carb more often. $3 can of Gumout once a year maybe 2x I found my 3.5hp B&S mower uses 0.6 gal gasoline for my small lawn or 2.4lb LPG for the same. factor in the danger of using compressed gasses, and safety can be a concern. filling a tank, hooking up regulator or valve, isnt something youd like to do often. much more caution is needed when refilling LPG tanks. *Bottom* *line*. NG and LPG conversions just are not practical in summer 2017 with gasoline prices right around $2.15/gal (Ohio) and LPG about $1/lb..
But the damn gas destroys your equipment. I never had trouble with lawn equip before they screwed the gas up. A bit more money for propane, less efficiency: who gives a squirt!, OR 500 dollars every 2 yrs for blown engines, hmm let me see ! If you want to have no ethanol gas you have to drive to find it, then pay much more per gallon usually bc they only carry hi octane non alcohol gas. So, common sense outweighs the scientific analysis.
Very true, new cars use stainless steel, brass (high quality material by the way) , and polyethylene parts in modern fuel injection systems, therefore are not affected by ethanol. Small engines use plated steel parts and aluminium parts that oxidize and corrode with ethanol therefore u need to buy a new carburator every two years.
You need to check your facts a bit closer. Back in the early 80's they came out with a new product called GASAHOL, it was 10% alcohol. They tried to sell it. NO one would buy it, so they stopped trying for a while, Then they didn't ask you anymore . That;s all you can get. The gas company's did that. Its cheaper than real gas. more profit for them. It used to eat fuel lines carb's, till they changed the material they were made from. It's still junk, but it does work sorta. Not real sure why Obama is taking the hit for that. But it was around long before he was. Used to be 5 places that sold real gas, now there aren't any, It all comes from the same place, The more stuff they take out of gas the more they charge for it. To run a car on alcohol in a race car uses about 3 times as much as gasoline . It used to be cheaper , like everything ,supply and demand, you want it , we have it, but you get to pay for it. I have worked on cars over 50 years, so I have seen many things, GASAHOL is still now and always has been junk. But their profits went way up with it.
Haha Trump 2020.and berry did make it easier for the gas companies to sell crap in America. I live in Oregon and u can still find the good stuff cost more tho. Fill up a glass jar with ethenol gas then pour a oz of water in it. as it falls the water will bind with the ethenol. Then pour out good gas problem solved 👍...
It wasn't the gas companies. It was a federal mandate called the Renewable Fuel Standard. Ethanol is not cheaper, it's much more expensive. Ethanol contains about one-third less energy than gasoline so you have to use 30% more. Trump 2020 in a landslide!
lawn mower , use the brass torch assembly, small and can adjust the flow with the knob! PS. have not tried it yet, but should work better than a turkey fryer assembly!
Another good point missed is that in a natural disaster the electricity that runs the gas pumps is normally out, so you can not pump gasoline. Propane and natural gas are on a pressure system that doesn't need electricity to allow it to be pumped. And not to forget that using this form of fuel, is easier on your engine's moving parts, allowing it to run cooler and therefore longer.
Could the Turkey fryer regulator be used in-line with the house's Natural Gas line? I know there are hi pressure regulator vs. low pressure, but which is which? Tank Hi or low? House Hi or low? I never understood why the tri-fuel carb kits have this huge-assed regulator for both NG and propane while bbcue grills only have small regulator for propane, but yet the tank is under very high pressure?
I don't know if a turkey fryer regulator would work with NG gas or not. That kind of regulator is designed for propane which is around 200 psi. NG gas is less then 10 psi. Thank you for your comment. I make these videos to help people. I am glad it was helpful to you. Can I ask you a favor? Covid has hit everyone hard, including me. I would really appreciate it if you could help me too. If you found this video helpful, I would sincerely appreciate if you could share it or my channel one time with someone else that it might help. Thanks again.
Here is what I would do to modify your system: 1. Replace rubber hose with black steel pipe. Soft hoses are ripe for catastrophic leaks that result in explosions. 2. Keeping the gas valve identified in the video on inside of house and add a gas regulator valve on the outside of house to the end of the steel pipe that I strongly advise in step 1. This valve will allow very precise tuning of gas flow that a plain ball valve cannot achieve. 3. Use a corrugated metal flexible pipe to connect from regulator valve to the engine. This flexible pipe is available in any big box store where gas stoves or dryers are sold. 4. Add a shelter to prevent animals or small children from causing harm to you or themselves.
One more thing, those regulator valves for gases can be had in a variety of specifications. A welding supply house should be able to offer the right kind that minimizes leaks, and offers good control. A simple pneumatic valve may be cheaper, but might not be good over time in an outdoor application. Another good reason to have secure and waterproofed shelter.
The thing i am wondering about is the tube for the crankcase pressure. that sometimes has allot of pressure that come out of it. Now its just going threw the float jet? thats not enough? I am surprised you dont have oil everywhere? Maybe you can just run it into a filter ? but yea pretty cool video thanks for sharing.
+nekbiodieselworks, I agree with that 110%. Every Tecumseh I have ever had was junk from the beginning. I put $80+ into a carb and a couple of hoses & filter for a push mower that had hardly been used and was given to me for free. I used it to mow 2-3 times and now it won't start and run again. What a waste of time and effort that was. Never again.
What do you do with the take-off engines; some of my yard equipment Tecumseh engines are upwards of 20 years and probably are near their end so I'd be interested in worthwhile replacements.
Why would you pay 80 for a carb when you can get one for 10? That is what was stupid. Theirs nothing wrong with Tecumseh engine's, its the user's who have the issue. Tecumseh was the biggest maker of snowblower engine's for 50 years. 90% of Snowblowers ran Tecumseh and the great thing, they swapped straight from winter engines to summer engines with a simple swap of the heater cover box to an air filter to the carburetor. Tecumseh was also big in the small engine racing world. Reliable, easy to work on, hard working engine's. I have a 46 going on 47 year old Tecumseh on my snowblower that turns into a lawnmower, how is it possible its the engines fault at 46 years old and still working hard. Sounds like some people just don't know how to operate an engine. You got the engine for free and you did work to it and it still didn't work. Sounds like whoever had it before you messed it up and you didn't do any better. The Tecumseh on my generator works great, built in 1999 I have no issues. Although I take care of it. The Tecumseh on my Tractor made in 1998 no issue. Nah not Tecumseh, your the issue. I hate when people whine about Tecumseh when the people don't know what the hell their doing. Tecumseh's are fantastic motors, an American engine company out of business 9 years now with after market parts at your disposal dirt cheap. Give me a break.... SMFH ruclips.net/video/mONAMgp6xlc/видео.html Tecumseh.... ruclips.net/video/QYKybks_QFM/видео.html Tecumseh.... ruclips.net/video/spMwC6tRYLw/видео.html .....and Tecumseh A carburetor will get messed up and the jets will get gummed up on any small engine carb if you leave untreated fuel sitting in their. Tecumseh carbs were so simple to work on and the adjustable ones were great. Now you have the honda and clone carbs which are also very easy to work on except most of those are non adjustable. Tecumseh is not the issue and true small engine people with experience knows that and where the blame truly belongs.... Uhh Tecumseh stinks, everyone I worked on was junk, blah, blah, blah, blah. I am so tired of pussies whining about bullshit because they don't know what the hell their doing. Shut up already. Tecumseh's were great. I have enough proof of that right above.
Average lifespan of a taken care of Tecumseh is 40 years. Theirs are literally tons still on machines going from the 60's and 70's. When they do finally die, the Predator works very well at the best prices, built by Rato and Loncin.
Pull them off and give them to me, I'll take everyone, just don't be jealous when they are all running fantastic after I take them off you people's hands....
lawrence p kortuem ovomit did not start the use of ethanol but the simpleton passed legislation to increase it to the damaging levels it is at now! Either way it is the government running your life as they want it!
@Jungle Explorer; I have not yet watched the video, however, after reading your description notes, etc... I am convinced you are more than likely the real deal. Thank you for your work and for sharing your knowledge. Also, I've decided to subscribe to your channel and excited to get started learning. So again, much appreciated. New, Loyal Viewer, Aaron Andrew.
Thank you. I very much appreciate your words. I hope I can live up to your expectation. I am just a real guy trying to share what I know. This video in particular is by far not my best work, but for some reason it is my most popular video. I made it on a spur of the moment with no script for a friend, and threw the intro stuff about Obama in as a sort of infomercial parody. There are a lot of things I wish I could correct, but RUclips does not allow editing once the video is live (as you know from the description). Thanks again for commenting and subscribing. If I can ever be of help, just let me know.
I have 3/4” pipe with shut off attached to 1” black gas line. I also have 30 ft of 1/2” hose with quick connections. I asked a few people on RUclips who talk about NG and told him what I just wrote. He told me the size and length of my pipes would deliver 36,000 BTU and my 13hp 420cc Generator only requires 28,600 BTU to run and I’m fine the way I set it up. I am looking for other opinions so I don’t waste time and money with inadequate pipe and hose sizes, what do you think will it or not work from 17 ft of 3/4” to 40 ft of 1/2” hose to 1.5 ft 3/8 hose to generator? Thanks
HAHAHA LOVE YOUR ANNONTATIONS! anyways, my question is how do you regulate air-gas mix? or does it kinda regulate by itself? ijust recently started digging into generators and LPG ones (aint gonna lie, LPG bottles make me a bit nervous cause there HAVE been a few blown up apartments here and there, but price is OK so it's still interesting) so ilearned that LPG can burn a bit too hot if not mixed with air... anyways, brilliant video and great narration! wanted to cut and skip but uh uh, you got me riveted throughout.
Thanks. I have to be honest. This video was made to be kind of an infomercial parody for some friends and years before I ever thought about having a youtune channel. It was made on the spur of the moment with just a smartphone and no planning. I could have never in my wildest dreams have imagined that it would become such a popular as it has become. That is why I had to add all the annotations in the description. I never thought anyone outside of my friends would ever see it, or even want to watch such a poorly made video. 🤣 But to answer your question, the carburetor has an on this generator (and most others) has an automatic governor that kind of controls the air mixture by adjusting the choke flapper. I have used this system several times in an emergency, what I have done was adjust it to run a little rich while idling, so there would be extra fuel when the unit was put under a load. Here is a video I made not too long after this one during the worst blizzard in the last 300 years. My neighbor froze to death sometime around the time I was making this video, but my family survived. ruclips.net/video/9Sa9M8Kn8Ik/видео.html

i f you need power you need a propane carburator whit large jets
@@jeanguytherrien933 I knew there was something you had to do but that was so long ago for me . I am thinking these particular generators you could adjust the richness right on the throttle body with a screw . I need to look into that . I have the manual somewhere in my junk pile. I also believe the regulator before the throttle body is a but different.
Dang .. classic youtube videos, the nostalgia, very nice .. description alone has solid morals than most content on RUclips these days.
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.
Hi. Thank you for commenting and promoting my channel. Please read the description below the video before commenting. Thank you.
Public Law 110-140, which required the addition of ethanol to gas, was signed by President in Bush in 2007. Just saying.

Well done. Well said.
My pleasure. Glad you enjoyed it.

Your welcome.
It isn't nothing, it's just garbage to people who aren't technical enough.
@@soupflood yeah but we may not be technical enough unlike me im smart but no one wants to deal with that stupid ethanol shit
Excellent work. During hurricane Sandy, we couldn't get gasoline but propane was plentiful.
Thank you for this great information Jeff McCrea. I appreciate it very much when viewers contribute useful information as you have here.
i am a nat gas and propane tech and other than that hose which you state is a proof of concept good job i would say if you want to do this either use black pipe or copper (check local codes) and please look up a spot test for gas and run one then you know your system has integrity and is gas tight

Lots of comments on here about engine rpm, all generators use governors to control engine speed, this is not a problem. Great job on video.
Thank you for commenting harold edmonds! I am so glad the video was helpful.
Jungle Explorer qa
I just bought a brand new little 2000w 4cycle generator tonight for $150 ,, I was thinking about buying a Tri Fuel conversion kit but they can cost over $300 bucks ,, Two times the price I payed for my little generator,, this is a great way to save money :)
I can easily add a , auto shut off valve to the gas line that would turn the gas off if the generator stopped running, for a little added safety to your awesome setup :)
Thank you for this great information WABU Mini Farm. I appreciate it very much when viewers contribute useful information as you have here.
Awesome! That was the whole point of this video. Not to show "Exactly" how to do it, but to introduce the concept of how easy it is to do it.
Very clever, I don't get all the haters though, what I took away from this video is it could be done proof positive, in a real emergency situation your generator is tri fuel capable. When SHTF I want this guy in my neighborhood, not afraid to think outside the box !

Wow,,, really enjoyed your video and it's helped me alot
So glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for commenting.
You need a valve to shut down fuel flow if the engine should quit running. Gas will still flow making a dangerous situation
There's an idiot light that indicate the engine shut down. In fact, everything will shut off including the lights. If he's watching TV and the electricity goes off, just go shut the valve. Probably not a good idea to run it when sleeping though.

Thank you for commenting One ANGRY CANADIAN! I am so glad the video was helpful.
They make a kit to put on there to make it work on natural gas! Unless you are going to stand out there and adjust it as the load changes

Actually, it's called "white gas" and is available at many farm supply stores.

Be glad you live where you do. Housing inspector would have a case of Apoplexy seeing your set up. I love it however.
The only thing that worries me on this set up is running the engine too lean and it getting too hot and burning a valve. With out an "orifice" on the gas line, you take a chance of doing that. How long have you run this under load and one time?

Hi. I know what you mean. My video is more of a proof of concept then anything else. It simply shows what can be done. It is not intended to show the BEST way to do it.
I've got a 400 gallon Propane tank at my house, it would be simple to tee off from the line and run my genny. Thanks for the tip.

Actually, I did have not run the motor on natural gas for too long, but have run it for days on propane, using this same set up. It was during a power outage (during a blizzard) that lasted for three days. I actually powered my house off of it (lights and essentials only. Not appliances). You can watch the video of that event here. The video was actually produced in my house powered by the generator.

That may be true
They used to run cars and trucks on coal gas in times when gasoline was in short supply. Since I want to try to make my own gas (methane) from decomposing plant matter I came here (and to similar places) to investigate the possibility of running a small generator on it if I'm successful. It looks simpler than I thought. I had the notion, quite possibly totally erroneous, that gasoline provided some lubrication to the top end and that its absence might be a problem. But it seems that engine life (not just carb, but the whole thing) can actually be extended if various gasses are used as fuels. Good video - thanks for posting.

Water is corrosive to aluminum and brass.?
Yep ask anybody that has a background in Navy/Marine aviation, the aluminum will start to exfoliate if it does not have protective coatings like anodize or alodine along with zinc chromate to protect the surface. Brass will start to tarnish and pit, just look at any pistol or rifle casing that have been wet for a while!!

It is not the way it supposed to be done, but it is the way he has operated, because he has no respect for the constitution.
jungleexplorer You're pretty much back to the days of King George III; only the taxes are now much much higher!

What does anything you said have to do with ethanol? It seems like you, like so many others here, have difficulty understanding plain English. The video is about getting a few more miles out of an engine that has a bad carburetor and would otherwise be thrown away. The video is not about how to get more longevity out of a brand new engine as you want to imply by your statement, "If you want shit to last, build it out of $tainle$$ $teel." In the future, please try to understand what you are hearing before commenting. Thanks
+pirateman
Von is right about the purpose of the video.
When one adds a load I just opened the valve more to allow more propane
I ran my 4 kW Generac for awhile after Katrina with a tube down its throat and used Natural gas, when I ran low on gasoline.

Thank you for this great information Nate Rowe. I appreciate it very much when viewers contribute useful information as you have here.
It's brilliant that this is running on methane or propane, but I think it will stop the governor from working when the electrical load changes. The governor wants to throttle the engine up to maintain voltage and frequency to the load, but it doesn't have control over the fuel delivery system anymore. Still, great for static loads.

Some people may not know but you can extend your oil changes Much Longer if you are Running on Propane or Natural Gas...

no doubt ethanol is trash for current small engines, thanks for the practical video showing a clean solution for running small engines, but keep in mind its swapping a non-renewable resource for another non-renewable albeit with some extra benefits.

Natural gas and propane are better than gasoline whether the gasoline has ethanol or does not. Aluminum and brass are used because of their corrosion resistance. Companies are now making engines specifically to run on natural gas and propane.
Those metals are use because they produce no sparks so you don't get an explosion.

Thanks for the video. No need to worry about keeping fresh gas in my gen.
Thank you for commenting Mascotal! I am so glad the video was helpful.
Thank you for this great information Melanie Branton D.V.M.. I appreciate it very much when viewers contribute useful information as you have here.
👍
Everything on this video is correct except for one minor detail Ethanol was introduced to gasoline in1988,. If memory serves Ronald Reagan was the president who passed that inovation. lets put the blame where it belongs
Thank you for supporting and promoting this video and my channel. Please read the description under the video before commenting.
We didn't see that crap in Texas until after 2000. Small engines haven't been the same since either
Thanks very much Sir, I will be converting my outdoor equipment soon, thanks again.
Thank you. Please read the description under the video before attempting this conversion.
I have this same model generator!!

$3-5 to mow my lawn with LPG vs under $2 gasoline
gasoline has more potential energy than LPG or NG. nowadays we'll just clean the carb more often. $3 can of Gumout once a year maybe 2x
I found my 3.5hp B&S mower uses 0.6 gal gasoline for my small lawn or 2.4lb LPG for the same.
factor in the danger of using compressed gasses, and safety can be a concern. filling a tank, hooking up regulator or valve, isnt something youd like to do often. much more caution is needed when refilling LPG tanks.
Thank you for commenting Paul S!

Obama screwed up a lot of things. Gasoline was just one of them. The Obama EPA also forced small diesel generators off the market.

I will use this method not unattended and I'll shut off the propane tank if I the motor shut off as it is fairly loud. Thanks for the info.

Of coarse Facts are usually lost on trump idiots duh

Hello and thanks for the great video. How long does a generator run on a 20lb propane tank?
Until it's empty.....

lawn mower , use the brass torch assembly, small and can adjust the flow with the knob! PS. have not tried it yet, but should work better than a turkey fryer assembly!

Do you save money with LP or NG over gasoline?
No
Interesting how some people HAVE to politicize EVERYTHING.

Another good point missed is that in a natural disaster the electricity that runs the gas pumps is normally out, so you can not pump gasoline. Propane and natural gas are on a pressure system that doesn't need electricity to allow it to be pumped. And not to forget that using this form of fuel, is easier on your engine's moving parts, allowing it to run cooler and therefore longer.

wow he said y2k! I remember when that happened
Yeah I think what's happening with Covid19 is kinda what we were all thinking Y2K was going to be like.
Thank you for commenting Ounce Sounds! And yeah, that whole thing was weird haha
Fell asleep watching this.he just goes on and on an on.
A good nap is always a good thing. 😉
Here is what I would do to modify your system:

Maybe you can just run it into a filter ? but yea pretty cool video thanks for sharing.

the biggest issue is the tecumseh engine on that generator. I wont even work on them. I pull them off and replace them
+nekbiodieselworks, I agree with that 110%.
SMFH
ruclips.net/video/mONAMgp6xlc/видео.html Tecumseh....
ruclips.net/video/QYKybks_QFM/видео.html Tecumseh....
ruclips.net/video/spMwC6tRYLw/видео.html .....and Tecumseh
A carburetor will get messed up and the jets will get gummed up on any small engine carb if you leave untreated fuel sitting in their.
Did you remove the carburator float?
Nope
Obama? I don't think so
lawrence p kortuem ovomit did not start the use of ethanol but the simpleton passed legislation to increase it to the damaging levels it is at now! Either way it is the government running your life as they want it!

I like your disclaimer. I like real Americans. I am one. I have a generator exactly like that.

@@thejungleexplorer Cheers thats me
I have 3/4” pipe with shut off attached to 1” black gas line. Thanks
Thank you for commenting Captainkleen! I am sorry, I do not know how to answer this question.
But to answer your question, the carburetor has an on this generator (and most others) has an automatic governor that kind of controls the air mixture by adjusting the choke flapper.
