Our lack of electrical power is a POLITICAL failure. It is singularly foolish to pretend this is merely a technical problem. If anything the current corrupt dispensation will birth an environmental problem in addition to the existing socio-political disaster that the ANC has foisted upon us. This is not just a matter of corruption and incompetence. Gwede is not even wrong! Placed in charge of such an endeavor, he will endanger something far greater than the economy.
The ANC has adopted the Stalinist approach (adopted by Mao) of "better red than expert". Gwede is employed as a political tool in support of Cyril. He only knows breaking things. This is fine if one wants to destroy a state (Apartheid or otherwise), but it is the opposite of what is required in building a state. His is a mindset of destroying initiative, in a country that desperately needs productive ideas.

South Africa's coal reserves are estimated at 53 billion tonnes and with our present production rate there should be almost 200 years of coal supply left.
WE HAVE AN ANC PROBLEM! NOT A RESOURCES PROBLEM.
If our country was under an honest, skilled government the people would all be RICH!

And often the abuse of the court system to stall SA energy projects is done by foreign-funded environmental NGOs used as proxies to delay development by their governments.
The less development the easier the extraction of resources on the cheap for foreign developed economies.

Really? We must trust the government and PASA to ensure that no pollution of ground water will happen? The areas will be rehabilitated after the process?
The people in the Karoo rely on ground water almost solely. Once its polluted...what then...
As they say better to ask for forgiveness than for permission?
We shall woe the day we approve this fracking in the Karoo...no matter what is said...most are lies. I am amazed that buznewsTV...is even entertaining this.

Rob Hershaw was in my view 100% correct (Sure there are some complications). In uncle Cyrils first state of the nation speach he spent a lot of time talking about the vast amount of Gas offshore near Sedgefield and close to Mosselbay. He got accussed of dreaming and went silent on this topic. FFS, this is what we need. Just look around us, Angola, (Namibia going that route) Mozambique are all going that route and we are sucking the hind you know what. Re Fraking, do we want jobs or do we need more sheep in the Karoo? Jobs, Natural gas booming economy are there for the taking and because of a handfull of greenies we hold back and suffer. We have all the skills and people able to do this, but if Government spend our tax money to try, it will die as have all the other state entities they manage under BBBEEEEEEEE (Not sure how many more B and E's there are) i.e Eskom, Telkom, Postoffice, SANRAIL, SAA and and and. Who wants to Invest hard earned money in something run by the Government. Let the rich invest and save the poor. Remember, nowhere has it been proven that by killing the wealthy, will benefit the poor. 7% of tax payers funding this country. That figure could well grow to 20%++ and more and very quickly, up the unemployment rate, up the tax box, up the services etc....
JUST DO IT CYRIL, small government controls with big business initiatives is the only way to save South Africa going forward.
Lots more can be said on this, but bottom line are the Greenies who doing the big state capture. Look at the Amazon debarcle, that could have been up and running long ago. Millions of hecters of grazing sheep fields in the Karoo wasted. Eish shame on us. Now the Germans wanting to open coal operations again thanks to Ukraine war. Just provesd when the Greenies chips are down they suddenly want to revert back to proven methods. Government must support business, remove restrictions and allow the best person for the job to not feel thrersatend because of his/her colour. Todays generation is being penalised for previous generations failures. We chasing our children away with BEE. In 10 years Mr Mantashe, You me a Cyril will most probably be dead or at best old and senile. Let the next genraion take the controlling lead and Mr Mandelas dream will be fulfilled. South Africans dont need the west, we need the best and weve got it now. EFF want contro the Mugabe way for the few at the expense of the poor and look at Zimbabwe today. Dont let us go this way please. Open your eyes, surround yourself with the successfull brains still there but old before its too let and the drains happened. You and Cyril can have a legacy og successfull non hatred mending the country or go down in the history boooks as failures just like the those before you. Jail the crooked, get them to pay back the money and fund/support private enterprise to invest and you will still see the change in your day. Thanks Alec for the information you brought up. Its natural that a Karoo farmers Lawyer will take the stance he has in this video. Too mch talk and too little action stops progress. Drill a few holes and lets see. Farmers should be supporting the risk before the communists take the farms later and do it fgor the elite. Mr Little is a lawyer respresenting farmers on this platform against Mr Hershaw. That natural, but hes no expert making statements like "I dont know, but Robs wrong" WTF.

It is very interesting how the Energy Companies create organizations, financially support them but at the same time seems to be the Champion of the People, so if they take the side of the Energy Companies we just go with them because if they say it is OK, then it must be. It reminds me of the person who opens 2 Fish & Chips Shops in the same town, because he is hedging his own bet, i.e. He creates his own opposition before somebody else does it.

How exactly will we benefit? SASOL has not brought down the cost of fuel, and we pay SASOL even more if the international fuel price drops. The price will be exactly the same maybe even more then the international price. The employment will be nowhere what they say with next to no local jobs, because the people do not have the skill. Ground water and food security will be decimated. There are already problems with lack of water. Easy for the rich and those in government to walk away once things go south. Fix what you broke or keep your hands off something that works.
