    Unimind increases powers of an Eternal, and Sersi's power is transmutation. With her powers increased she was able to physically transform Sprite's body from Eternal to human.

      As well it's very likely that Tiamut wanted that to happen. They are normally cast as like the "good" celestial in the comics. That or they coopted their powers as well and with the will of the others could channel it's purpose to kill them.

    I enjoyed the lore of this movie, loved the historical settings, and there were lots of visually stunning scenes. It was a lot to digest for one single movie though - so much to keep track of and so many new characters getting introduced at once with limited screen time, so it was difficult to get very attached to any of them, at the same time as the movie also felt a bit too dragged out.
    I do feel like it set up for an interesting sequel though - not least since it seems like it will be focused more on my personal favourite characters - Druig, Thena and Makkari - who all had too little screen time in this first one.

    • @Souledex
      @Souledex 2 года назад +2

      I think ironically its because they didn't give it enough time. Like Spider-Man NWH was super long (though it had more build up) but it let the scenes that needed to breathe. It could have benefited from a miniseries tho.

    The sword that Dane has is called the Ebony blade. It's an enchanted sword forged by Merlin, owned by Dane's ancestor who is a relative of king Arthur. With all the abilities the Ebony blade possesses, it comes with a curse, the more blood the sword sheds, the more his mind will be corrupted by it.

      I think they tell us enough to get the job done for the story they are telling. Considering that there is a noticeable difference between "movie effects" and "streaming tv show effects", I think some of the more epic action sequences would have suffered from this being a Disney+ series. They do a pretty good job with effects on Disney+ shows, but it always seems of a lesser quality than what we get in movies. Also, let's not forget how dismally the tv series about the Inhumans performed and I would argue that they are a more interesting group than the Eternals in Marvel Comics lore.

    The Uni-mind channeled all the cosmic power that the Eternals had into Cercei. Thereby amplifying her transmutation powers to a level where she could stop a Celestial. At the end she said she had enough cosmic power leftover to change Sprite into a human, thereby allowing Sprite to grow older. Regarding Starfox and Thanos, going back to the comic books, Starfox is Thanos's brother. Starfox is an Eternal but Thanos is partially a Deviant born to an Eternal couple. A lot more to it so can't explain more.

    Duaffy, without having ever read the comics, my theory is that the Eternals have powers that help serve their individual purposes. While some are supposed to help the development of humankind, others exist mainly as warriors to protect from the Deviants. Kingo, Gilgamesh, Thena are warriors, with Ikaris as the most powerful as their de facto leader. That's why the others are afraid to battle Ikaris in direct combat.

  • @chrisgiles6050
    @chrisgiles6050 2 года назад +1

    I love watching your reactions, Duaffy! You do make good points about this movie. I still enjoyed it because of the amazing visual effects and the use of more natural light and less green screen, and the wonderful chemistry between Gilgamesh and Thena, but I still feel that the plot of Eternals could have used some major fine-tuning. I thought the 10 main characters should have been given equal screen time devoted to a little of their backstories and what makes them tick, their reactions to certain events like the Battle of New York, the Battle of Sokovia, or even the Battle of Earth, how they could have reached Ajak sooner or Ajak could have told the others the truth of their purpose, and not undercutting the serious and intense moments with unnecessary humor.
    I still have hope in Marvel's plans for the Eternals going forward. If and when we expect a sequel to follow up on that ending, maybe they can focus the plot on Thena, Makkari, and Druig finding the other Eternals across the universe and on getting Sersi, Kingo, and Phastos back. It doesn't need to become another space opera like Guardians of the Galaxy, it just needs a good script with a breath of fresh air, a simple and straightforward plot, equal screen time for the main characters, good character development for all, balance between the drama and comedy, and a brief runtime that doesn't feel too long or too short, that keeps us fully engaged from start to finish.

    This one deserves a rewatch on your own time. Yes, there are a lot of characters and there's a lot going on in the movie, but everything that you need to know to understand the story is explained in the film. And for those questions about how something specific is able to happen (such as granting Sprite mortality through the hive mind), it's a comic book movie, so sometimes it's best to suspend disbelief and just go with it. It is part of a larger universe, so a lot of those unanswered questions will be leading up to something bigger eventually.
    You don't need to apologize for expressing your opinion on a film though. If your opinion is truly how you feel, own it. Don't feel like you have to explain that it's just your opinion and that you're sorry if others disagree. We know it's your opinion, and you don't owe anyone an opinion that is not yours.

If God told us to do something would we obey or rebel if we disagreed or didn't understand, and if we rebelled would we not suffer the consequences because he is God and all powerful? What if our family we love was considered wicked by God, would we side with our family against God or with God against our family? Its food for thought to understand his choice in the movie.

    The problem with this movie is that it build a storyline in the first half, and when we learn about the real mission of the Eternals, they throw out completely the Deviants storyline and now they need to stop the Emergence, it was very poorly edited and very poorly conceptualize and ever poorly translate to screen, they only killed ONE deviant in the end, and now they're gone? There's no other else?
    The Uni-mind (as I understand it) amplifies the powers of Sersi, she only can change non-living things matter, but with the power of the Uni-Mind she turn The Celestial into stone/marble, and with the remaining power convert Sprite into a real girl. Once that is drain out, she remains the normal Sersi as we know her.
    It doesn't make sense to Arishem to create both Deviants and Eternals at the same time (I know that is comic accurate) if you want to intelligent life to expand I get that you create The Eternals to protect it, but why did he create something that tries constantly to slow down your main goal? It doesn't make sense ant all in the context of the second half, if the Deviants were the main and only villains ok, you created them, they go out of your control, yo eliminated them (very lazy explanation of why they were exterminated for millenia and they all out nowhere pop up again); but if you only need intelligent life in order to "feed the seed" why did you create the deviants in the first place?

    • @sirmoonslosthismind
      @sirmoonslosthismind 2 года назад +3

      (#1)
      arishem originally created deviants (a life form) to serve him, but they evolved in an unexpected direction and arishem lost control of them, and only then did they begin to hunt the intelligent species they were supposed to be protecting. arishem learned from this and chose to create the eternals as highly complex machines that would not be subject to random mutation. the eternals are solely products of their programming and their experiences, thus arishem's surprise at their actions and his decision to review their memories for himself. all of this was quite comprehensible. likewise, i fail to understand why you think it's "lazy" that some of the deviants were actually frozen in the ice and thawed out due to climate change. this is all quite plausible.
      (#2)
      it's true that the film doesn't cover the extermination of the deviants, but only one of them was really enough of a threat that we needed to see it die -- the one that figured out how to absorb eternals and acquire their powers, and that did absorb ajak and gilgamesh. after that one died and tiamut was stopped, showing us the other deviants would have been hugely anticlimatic. not to mention that in modern day mcu earth, it might even be a completely different hero who runs across them and kills them. it's not essential for us to see the eternals deal with them.

    This script definitely needed another editing pass. If you removed the entire storyline about the Deviants, nothing in the movie would change. It’s never a good sign when you can cut 30+ minutes out of a movie and end up with a more coherent end product.

    • @louisfrancisco2171

      If you remove the entire storyline about the Deviants, then what is the Eternals mission? To protect humanity from nothing? And they could not fight Thanos because they were told they could not interfere unless nothing was involved? That doesn't make a lot of sense.

      @@louisfrancisco2171 I meant remove the part where the Deviants return. A story of a bunch of immortals searching for purpose after finishing their mission is a lot more interesting than a cheap Justice league knockoff fighting monsters.

      @@corynydam2361 The Deviants returning is the cause of the death of two Eternals, and was used by Ikaris as a way to distract the other Eternals from the Emergence. If you think their return is the plot of the movie, then Ikaris' plan worked, at least for a time.
      The movie doesn't work and is not coherent if you just remove that part.

    I’ve watched many different channels where people react to movies and I don’t know why but I never see anyone point out when a movie is bad. This is the second worst movie marvel ever made. And people react like it’s good special effects are nice story is lousy, their interaction and relationships it’s pathetic there is no development of the characters it’s a really poor quality movie there is not much to it other than the special effects. But you never ever see people who react to movies say anything negative about them everything is positive so a lot of the time I feel like it’s disingenuous I’m not saying this lady watching this movie didn’t like it. But there are many films I watch and say to myself well that was a waste of time and yet I never see people reacting to movies say yeah I realize some people like it but it wasn’t for me why is that.

      it's not even the second worst recent mavel movie. _multiverse of madness_ was the worst and _shang-chi_ was the second worst. _eternals_ is actually a pretty interesting movie, but the learning curve is definitely a bit rough. it all flows much better if you watch it after you have a firm grasp on all the characters and their relationships.

      @@sirmoonslosthismind first of all never watched shang-chi or the multiverse getting tired of the direction and writing don't appreciate seeing beloved characters pissed all over and not even having the courtesy of calling it rain. Perhaps you're right and the other two films are even worse than this one thank you for letting me know it means I will have to waste my time watching them. Also I have a firm grasp on all marvel characters as I have collected marvel comic books for more than 20 years and had a very extensive collection so I'm well aware of who the eternals are and who they're supposed to be. What is in the movie is not even a close comparison to the comic book stories. Stopped collecting comic books over 10 years ago. They were just no longer worth reading anymore.
      I used to enjoy Saturday mornings eating corn flakes with ice cold milk and reading a bunch of comic books used to be one of my favorite pastimes. But when you compare comic books now to those of the bronze age silver age and gold age. They're just not even worth bagging and boarding.

      i apologize for being unclear; i meant, "a firm grasp of the film's characters and their relationships". i didn't mean to imply that comics knowledge would have helped, as i don't know the comics version well enough to say that. they were all new characters to me.
      when martin scorsese compared marvel movies to theme park rides, i thought it was an ignorant statement. then i saw _shang-chi_ and wondered if he somehow knew it was coming. _shang-chi_ is a movie in which the leads have no real agency at all, and things just happen to them and they just go with the flow. it reminds me a lot of the prerecorded segments for theme park rides.
      _multiverse of madness_ is just badly-written $200 million fan fiction.
      honestly, i think the mcu has been suffering a lot from the absence of joss whedon. he really built the framework connecting everything from _avengers_ up until _infinity war_ and while he's made a lot of enemies, and i won't say they're wrong about him, his talent is pretty undeniable in my view.

      @@sirmoonslosthismind some of the marvel movies have done a pretty good job I won't deny that. But as a fan sometimes I get frustrated when they change things from what they are in the comic books I feel it's disrespectful to the people who created it originally. And if I'm being honest I really don't like race and gender swapping characters to me it is lazy racist and disrespectful. There is no way I would like to see blade the vampire Hunter a white or Chinese guy it would just annoy the living hell out of me so when I see older characters gender on race swapped I just think it's the ultimate expression of racism. It just makes me want to switch off whatever it is I'm watching I'm walk away. Why I believe it is racism and sexist. The basically saying a character has to start off as a male and white for people to be interested in them. And I believe that's a cop-out and a load of bollocks. This is one of the reasons why I had such a big problem with the eternals.

    When I watched this movie it was like watching a copy of 🐉 Dragon Ball Z. This movie has androids like in Dragon Ball. One of the villains absorbs androids, like Cell does in Dragon Ball with androids 17 & 18. I must say android 18 is one of favorite characters & she reminds me of Duaffy as well, must be her golden hair or blue eyes.... Anyways.... Then we have Superman in the form of an android. There were no new concepts to see in this movie. The plot was so predictable. All of them were the bad guys. This is what happens when ideas are taken from other places & are posted into a story that doesn't have any type of context or true essence or content. My apologies for being such a harsh critic, but d!zn3y- marmol has become such a cliche when they plagerize ideas from others. I prefer the original, Dragon Ball with Goku & Vegetta. More entertaining. Let us not forget that special effects do not equate to superb story telling in a 🎥 movie. What was the purpose of the androids? To destroy humanity, like they did thousands of civilizations throughout the galaxy. That my friends is call nihilism. No special effect can change the intended message. Purpose is center in every story. Just because a movie has a name brand it doesn't mean it will automatically have a good story line to tell. Just to clarify, my intention is not to offend anyone, but one has to recognize that the quality of storytelling in regards to m@ฯvl3 movies has decline in recent years, which is a shame. These writers don't know how to read anymore, especially when it come to mythology. Just watch Thor, one of my favorite myth characters, they turn him into a laughing clown. They could have done more to evolve the character & they didn't. Characters grow overtime, like people. I don't see the same development in this stories anymore. I only see an attempt to destroy Western Civilization culture & heritage. Spiderman No Way Home is by far a superior movie by all means. I wonder why. Maybe the writers selected for Spiderman are from Sony, not d!zn3y or m@ฯvl3. Sony took great care of presenting a great story. D!zn3y-m@ฯvl3 don't care to present a great story anymore.

      For those that don't know Dragon Ball started existing on February 26, 1989. I respect other opinions. I used to be a M@ฯvl3 fan. Now I must admit, I am more a Detective Comics fan. I was baffled to see an exact copy of Superman in here, & sad to say, but Superman is much older than any m@ฯvl3 character ever invented by the legendary Stan Lee. Superman came at Spring of 1939. Is anyone going to state that Ikaris is not a plagerized copy of Superman? Now, Outlander from "The Boys" is a satire of Superman, & I can understand that, but Ikaris? But the quality of their story telling has deteriorated overtime in m@ฯvl3 comic. The stories they tell are not amusing anymore. My personal opinion of course. Respectfully yours of course. I will answer your question, m@ฯble did copy this& I must agree DC comics does the same. For example, Aquaman & Namor, Bruce Wayne & Tony Stark, Green Arrow & Hawkeye, just to mention a few. Problem with corporate monopolies is that they don't bring new ideas to the table. There is a difference between story telling for the sole purpose of entertaining the audience, & story telling for the sole purpose of making money at the expense of a naive audience. The second one sell the audience a cheap, unimaginative story, with no fresh ideas, no inspiration, no good story line to follow, or to be appealed to. By the way, Athena is the Greek goddess of wisdom & war, the daughter of a kick butt god of thunder, Zeus, she is not a malfunctioning robot or android. It reminds me that m@ฯbl3 tends to destroy lore & history, just like they did in Thor Love & Thunder. Thor allegedly killed Zeus. These writer are so lazy that they don't even read anymore. Story inconsistencies maybe?
