I just bought this and will try it in full sun Ontario zone 6. The only bigleaf hydrangea i had luck with was Bloomstruck. Hopefully, this will get blooms next year.
Wonderful, and be sure to keep us posted of your progress. Bloomstruck is one of the most reliable remontant selections, so it will be interesting to hear how this compares for you in your area. It is probably only a matter of time time until it reaches you in Sweden. Plants this good, usually get distributed quickly. We don't know a variety called "Bloomstar", perhaps you mean Bloomstruck from Endless Summer? If so, it is also very, good😊👏👍, it is one of the most remontant selections we grow, and also well worth planting. In fact, there should be a place for both of these two excellent selections in everyone's garden!😉 Stay tuned because our testing and trialing is on going, and David will be reporting on more of our findings. With that in mind, have you subscribed to our channel? Thanks for explaining this gorgeous plant! I saw it in the nursery yesterday and because they were not in the flowering stage I could not tell the difference between this one and the other ones in the Proven Winners colour choice series! Perfect for my zone 5 🌸❤️🇨🇦. Back to the nursery I go ! I just need to find space in my garden! 😂

I have question, what amount of lime or sulphur do you amend into the soil to make these beauties shine bluer? I love this plant. Mine is potted that i will over winter in a covered non heated shelter. I should have planted it but didn't have space in the garden. Edit: love David's enthusiasm for plants and he always injects me with excitement for the plants I try to care for. God Bless!!
Thanks for your question and kind comments, David will be pleased to hear you are enjoying his efforts. The amount of Lime or hydrangea colorant depends on your soil pH (and obviously) the formulation of the product you are using. The back of the product will usually specify the amounts and directions, and of course the experts at your favorite garden center: grownbyoverdevest.com/retail-locator/ will be able to guide with their preferences and guidance too. To help you a little further, here's a link to another of David's videos that will take you through the process and procedure that he uses: ruclips.net/video/DpO8JC27_Io/видео.htmlsi=TUKjqLt7FjeP391Z. Note that sometimes in soils with a high pH, it takes a while, and more that one application to get the results you may be looking for. Have you subscribed to our channel? Thank you so much for the details you provide on your plants. I garden in Iowa, zone 5A and I seem to do best with panicle hydrangeas. Your video on the Firelight tidbit hydrangea insured me to find some locally, which I did! Only one garden center had them at the time. However, upon closer inspection, many of the plants that were sold in individual containers and looked like one plant from a few paces back actually seem to be TWO separate small plants with bases a couple inches apart at the soil level. Please let me know if is this a common or acceptable practice? In the future should I avoid buying a pot that looks like two plants vs. one? I did go ahead and plant some, so is there anything different I should do with pruning, or should I try to separate them somehow? Thank you so much for the information! I do keep my eye out for plants you have suggested and am learning more about taking care of them.
I meant to ask if the Skyview would last in a container in my zone. I’m not sure I have a shady enough spot in the ground for it, and to keep it away from the deer!
Some nurseries put two liners in a pot to finish and sell them quicker. There should be no reason why they shouldn't turn out OK and you can't just keep growing and treating them as "one" plant. Except when growing Hollies (when we deliberately grow a male and female ones together to make berries), we only put one liner in a pot. And as you've probably noticed, even though it takes a little longer to grow bushy, well finished plants, this is something we do. The nice thing about buying your plants at a garden center is that you can examine the plants before purchasing, so it is always good to be discerning and give them extra scrutiny. It will grow very well in a container, but the roots (which are normally insulated by the earth when in the ground) will freeze in a pot. So, you would have to protect it by bringing it into a garage, basement or cool room. Alternatively, David says "plunges" (buries) the root systems (in the earth) of some of his plants in late Autumn and lifts and repots them again each spring.
I live in Hamilton ON and need to find a few of these ASAP. Also, how can you not love David ❤…such a gem 💎

BTW, have you subscribed to our channel yet?

Hi, any update? Does it tolerate full sun??
This is a variety I really want! Haven´t seen it in Sweden yet though. Do you know how it compares to Endless Summer BLOOMSTAR?
It is probably only a matter of time time until it reaches you in Sweden. Plants this good, usually get distributed quickly. We don't know a variety called "Bloomstar", perhaps you mean Bloomstruck from Endless Summer?
If so, it is also very, good😊👏👍, it is one of the most remontant selections we grow, and also well worth planting. In fact, there should be a place for both of these two excellent selections in everyone's garden!😉
Stay tuned because our testing and trialing is on going, and David will be reporting on more of our findings.

Yes, this is a gorgeous new introduction and we are quite excited about it!

Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.

Thank you, its great to hear that you are appreciating our efforts.
We grow these in 3c pots which roughly equates to a 3 gallon size.

Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge from the trade. I am subscribed!
I truly appreciate your reply. Knowing that, I feel much better about taking care of these plants, thank you.
