Haven’t watched the final part yet, but am excited to do so! I decided to watch from the beginning while I work on some boring work tasks. Thanks for keeping me company!
Thank you for documenting this process. I’ve been dreaming of having a greenhouse for ages so it’s nice to see what all goes into such a project. Also, my ears totally pricked up when you mentioned Jeff City. I graduated from the high school there decades ago. Go Jays 😊
Ty ty ty so much for being able to share with us so many interesting things! This planning for the greenhouse is super helpful & entertaining !! I am so looking forward for the build & final results!!
Hey Becca, love the ingenuity! Also I wouldn't be too worried about pt lumber. Prior to 2003 it was treated with harmful chemicals but it's a lot better now. Obviously do whatever makes you most comfortable but just thought I throw it out there to hopefully lesson your worry. Hope you have a great rest of your week!
$4200 might be the "go away price", because they are busy and don't need the work. FYI, when you order material from a drawing it is called a take-off. Also the bracket would be called a ridge hanger bracket. (and you definitely need to use the special nails).
Oh man I’m so hype to see the building vlog! I love background info like this cuz most how to building things skip this planning bit and it’s so so much work
I got my shade cloth at Mega greenhouse. Binded and reveted at a great price. I have a 12x20 greenhouse. I keep mine temp at 45 degree’s. I have Pothos and heartleaf philodendron and a lot of other house plants out there and it does not hurt them. I have tin at the bottom of my greenhouse. It helps when weedeating around.
My besties outdoor greenhouse (in South Georgia so a different climate) stays in thr 60s-70s in winter without heat. The sun just keeps it warm. She spends about 75/month to heat it in winter to the low 80s. I have an indoor greenhouse (10x10 grow tent) and I run 1 small heater only at night, the same one you run in your plant room, and it's like 30-50$ in electric in the coldest months. Just for a small idea of what it could cost you. Not sure on the differences of weather but it actually surprised me how cheap it was to run. I only run it at night as the lights keep it in the mid 80s no problem.
So excited for you!! So nice of your friend too draw up the plans. 💚 Gonna be awesome too see it go up!! The only thing I would of done different would be put ground cloth between ground an gravel. Weeds can be such a pain. May be you did an didn’t say. Happy your family is coming too help, gonna be awesome an such a special GH having them help. 💚
For heating you could always run an outdoor extension cord out to the greenhouse and run a greenhouse heater. If your greenhouse is south facing, you may only need heat during cloudy days and nights in the winter. I am going to build a greenhouse out of old windows so I have done some research.
@@BeccaDeLaPlants i am a orchid grower so dont watch other planty vids much but your is the exception. your personality and your i can do it attitude is admirable... 🙂
Oh Becca I can't stress enough of how well you tackle these projects. The garden, the plant wall. Girl you are fabulous. 👍😊
