That tune (Autobop, or at least parts of it) predates Transformers. It was previously used in Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends. Very first episode, in fact. I couldn't tell you if it was used before that. Hopefully, there are no rights issues with this particular track. But don't say anything... I don't want the lawyers to edit my childhood like it was an episode of WKRP.

It’s even got a bit of a jazzy and espionage vibe to it, I like it. I didn’t grow up with transformers G1 (because I wasn’t born in the 80s I was born in 2000) but I do like this show a lot, and this franchise is definitely a favorite of mine among pop culture

I missed this some much! This is clearly what is missing in today’s animation. It was like magic to me as a kid. Marvel comics story telling; the voice acting; the characters with personalities; the music all ties together. It made a thirty minute cartoon so epic. I must admit that I do prefer the G1 soundtrack

My thanks to Robert J. Walsh, Johnny Douglas, Anne Bryant and Ford Kinder for making the best soundtracks in history of the Saturday Morning scores period. AUTOBOTS, TRANSFORM AND ROLL OUT!
The opening theme gives me a type of vibe I can’t really explain. I wasn’t alive when this was on g1 was airing but my dad loved transformers and used to watch it when he was little. It’s a little thing I can share with him.
Maybe it's partly nostalgia talking, but a lot of these tracks evoke some genuine emotion. It's a well written animated soundtrack in my opinion. It always carried the stories very well. Nice to finally be able to listen to just the music without dialogue over the top of it and just appreciate the music.
This was the one series where Johnny Douglas and Rob Walsh out did themselves. The Season 1 soundtrack is what defined the series. As for the show itself, it had a writing style that separated it from many American animated series especially during the 80's & had a large & diverse cast. Little did Hasbro know the potential it would have. It is what helped Sunbow and Marvel Productions (along with "G.I. Joe," "Jem," & "My Little Pony") become viable competitors to Hanna-Barbera & dethrone it from dominance.

This soundtrack is def a masterpiece, I've always found it to be one of the best ever. I love the arrangements, how the composers rendered the diverse moments / feelings and movements while "citing" the main theme here and there, their choices about which instruments to use for a certain "situation"... Also the blend they've made from diverse musical styles results in a huge and clever display of musical greatness and fine taste. A work like this one has truly nothing to envy about any million-dollar budget movie coming from H(e)llywood or elsewhere. Hasn't it?

Season 1 G1 Transformers was possibly the greatest cartoon series ever. The stories, dialog, music, animation, characters...it was damn near perfection.
It must have nearly every single check box ticked off for boys. Robots, Sci-fi, Fantasy, Dinosaurs, Jets, Tanks, Military Vehicles, Trucks, Construction Vehicles, Emergency Vehicles, Sports Cars, Aliens, Transformations, Combinations, Good vs Evil, Wars, let alone the story, the voice acting, the dialog.

The funniest error was one of them said "energon tubes" instead of "energon cubes". XD

I’d say that the season 1 soundtrack is my favorite- the way that some of the tracks are so versatile astounds me. Some parts of the songs are just standard, kinda cheesy sounding 70s-80s cartoon music, but you also get a lot of variety in the general vibes and tone of the songs too- some, like “life”, the first half of “facing disaster”, and the bassoon part of “Decepticon drama” manage to legitimately sound eerie and offputting, while “explore ! Repair !” Encapsulates the sort of feelings you would imagine exploring an alien world for the first time- much like the autobots and decepticons were on earth. The season 1 OST really just feels appropriate for the tension and confusion found throughout season 1, as the marooned cybertronian factions on earth were exploring their new environment and picking back up a war that had been on hold for millions of years.

This soundtrack definitely added a lot to the series, can’t imagine what it’d be like without it. It’s very nostalgic hearing it again. Wasn’t alive when the series was new, but watched it a lot as a kid since they reran the whole thing on the HUB network alongside TF Prime in the early 2010s. It’s a great show and holds up pretty well I’d say.
More like you can find this "Spider-Man" track on "Amazing Friends" and "Transformers". It doesn't really belong here, despite its ubiquity on this series (they weren't paying anyone to create a new track for "radio" or "dance club" scenes). The "Cold Slither" instrumental is in this series too, but it's properly not included, because it belongs in "G.I. Joe".
There's still one missing from all of these... that more rock sounding music that usually accompanied Blaster. It was used, in among others second season episodes, when Blaster and Bumblebee rescued Cosmos from the Morphobots. It was a solid loopable rock riff.

@@eloptimusX149 Well, during the 40th anniverary cinema event that just happened this week, the voice actors performing the table reading of episode 1 made six obvious mistakes. You did better than them. :)
The worst mistake they made was saying "Starscream, only a select few ever leave." instead of the correct line "Starscream, only a select few ever lead."
The funniest error was one of them said "energon tubes" instead of "energon cubes". XD

I was born slightly too late to get into this show but I am loving not just the fact that these are real instruments played by real musicians but how much brass there is! We need more cool brass like this these days!

i’m seeing myself btwn ages 3-4 1985-86 watching this animated series at home or at my babysitter’s house with her 3 sons who were huge fans of the toys and cartoons 😅
I’d say that the season 1 soundtrack is my favorite- the way that some of the tracks are so versatile astounds me. Some parts of the songs are just standard, kinda cheesy sounding 70s-80s cartoon music, but you also get a lot of variety in the general vibes and tone of the songs too- some, like “life”, the first half of “facing disaster”, and the bassoon part of “Decepticon drama” manage to legitimately sound eerie and offputting, while “explore ! Repair !” Encapsulates the sort of feelings you would imagine exploring an alien world for the first time- much like the autobots and decepticons were on earth. The season 1 OST really just feels appropriate for the tension and confusion found throughout season 1, as the marooned cybertronian factions on earth were exploring their new environment and picking back up a war that had been on hold for millions of years.

This soundtrack definitely added a lot to the series, can’t imagine what it’d be like without it.
It’s very nostalgic hearing it again. Wasn’t alive when the series was new, but watched it a lot as a kid since they reran the whole thing on the HUB network alongside TF Prime in the early 2010s. It’s a great show and holds up pretty well I’d say.
Best cartoon ever aired My Friend!! Of course I'm partial. I was a child of the 80s during the initial run. Transformers G1❤

You can find Jazz soundtrack on some old Spiderman and friends episodes especially when there's a party going on.
More like you can find this "Spider-Man" track on "Amazing Friends" and "Transformers". It doesn't really belong here, despite its ubiquity on this series (they weren't paying anyone to create a new track for "radio" or "dance club" scenes). The "Cold Slither" instrumental is in this series too, but it's properly not included, because it belongs in "G.I. Joe".

The pieces feature such great titles that show how well the composers/musicians captured the essence and intent.

There's still one missing from all of these... that more rock sounding music that usually accompanied Blaster. It was used, in among others second season episodes, when Blaster and Bumblebee rescued Cosmos from the Morphobots. It was a solid loopable rock riff.
That's the "Cold Slither" instrumental; you may already have realized it belongs in the "G.I. Joe" soundtrack.
