The Duchess of Gloucester Steps Up To Support Queen Camilla

- Birgitte, the Duchess of Gloucester, has stepped up to support Camilla in King Charles’ absence.
The Duchess has always kept a low profile, and rarely courts publicity. But it’s reported that she has attended an amazing 5,000 royal engagements since marrying into the Royal Family.
Birgitte has accompanied Camilla at a number of recent events, just as King Charles has been forced to take a step back from public life. King Charles is currently being treated for cancer, and attends a more limited number of official engagements.
The Danish-born Duchess married Prince Richard, the youngest grandson of George V, in 1972. Prince Richard, the Duke of Gloucester, has also attended dozens of engagements this year. The pair met in Cambridge, where Birgitte attended a finishing school while Richard attended Cambridge University.
The Duchess also has a portfolio of more than 60 charities, and spends a lot of her time supporting and promoting them. Birgitte holds a number of honorary military appointments, both in the UK and the commonwealth.

I’m so glad to see this support for Camilla. I would like to see more RF members helping. Princesse Beatrice could be a huge help in both appearances and the heavy load of behind-the-scenes work.
The duchess has been doing her duty for quite some time while the duke continued to work. Now they have been called upon to support the new monarch and they continue to do so both separately and together. At one stage her listing in the Royal Family was before her husband because of the work she did with her patronages. The duchess is a class act.
Thank you to the Duchess of Gloucester for moving more front and center in support of the RF. Maybe King Charles can put more of a spotlight on this group as a part of his reduced monarchy. I'm much more comfortable seeing her out and about than Camilla's sister. The Dutchess appears more dignified and rightly so having been part of a court that included a king since her younger days. There is something to be said about folks who have been raised as part of a royal court rather than someone plucked in off the streets with little awareness of their environment or protocol. The difference is obvious. You can tell the difference even in the way that she walks and moves through a room.

Birgitte, Duchess of Gloucester is pure class. Everything she does is done with grace and dignity. Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester married a true gem in the British Royal family.
She looks always have a positive attitude and love every event. Nice couple. It was also a pleasure to see and Camilla together hosting this event.

I'm sorry but there is no stepping up The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester have always been there doing their bit in the most wonderful of ways as did the Dukes Mother Princess Alice who was carrying out duties well into her late 90s and indeed outlived HM Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother!! The Gloucester's have always been there! And withe Steady Eddie the Duke of Kent and the wonderful Princess Alexandra they were and still are the background oaks that forge the mighty tree of state!!🎉👍

The Duchess is another commoner who married into the Royal Family and has been a gracious and lovely addition. That makes Camilla, Catherine, Sophie and Birgitte who did not fit the "mold" Harry talked about. They all had problems and difficulties to overcome, not just Meghan. So Harry, there is no mold.

The Duchess of Gloucester is a hardworking person, putting duty above self. It must hav edbeen so difficult for her to adjust to royal life but she did extremely well on her role. The royal family is blessed to have an amazing member, and Prince Richard is so lucky to have her by his side. I also admire her fashion sense and vast collection of incredible jewels. May God give her a long and happy life.

Nice to see the Gloucesters getting a bit of publicity. The Duke does about the same number of engagements as William does each year, and has done for quite a while. He just doesn't get the same level of publicity. And I've always admired the way Birgitte has coped, considering she wasn't expecting to become a working royal, or a duchess, when she married Prince Richard, who is a second son, but became the heir to the dukedom when his older brother was killed in a plane crash a few weeks after their marriage.
It really is a shame that there are this many people not receiving the recognition that they should. However, we don't need compare them to what other ones are doing, we need to celebrate them on their own merits. As for his brother, it was not if but when he offed himself. Racing pipers is not the most intelligent thing to do. Not to mention he had porphyria.
