Would you want to eventually move back to Penn State to be a teacher? Weather is cool and showers. You need a jumper to be outside and a handy umbrella just in case.
Oooh interesting question! I love State College and Penn State, but the weather and landscape make it so hard for me to live there! It's always cloudy - even throughout summer - so it's challenging for a vitamin D deficient person like myself. But you never know! Oh my goodness! How do you like chilly weather in the summer?
I miss your dcp stuff, that's when I joined! Here it'd high 80s/low 90s and humid. Cicadas and occasional relief when it rains. I'm actually really interested because I have no idea if I could ever FOLLOW THROUGH on it, but I would love to teach. I had a misdirection for most of my twenties though.... what would you say to someone about to go back to school?
Ah so long ago! I know, I miss Disney so much!! As far as going back to school, if you want it then go for it! Look for programs that are affordable and figure out ways to make the most out of the tuition cost - for example, the schools I've been to charge one flat rate for "full time" whether you're taking 12 units or 18! Take community college classes for GE's and then transfer them over to save money too. If you're working while going to school, then you could see if the university has a tuition assistance program for staff and potentially get a job there and use those benefits (at Minot State, staff get [I think] 1 free class a semester). But honestly, my "adult learners" have been much more committed than my typical aged students because they WANT it! If that's how you feel, then I'd encourage it!
Greetings from Omaha, Nebraska. My question is this can you get tenure at one University and then transfer to another university (universities not associated with each other) and have tenure at the new university? Have you set up your membership yet?
Have to apply for a tenured position with all the docs etc. Academia is inflexible, but I think admin class can do it: transfer to the same position at another school.
Good question! No, you cannot transfer tenure BUT at your new institution they might put you on an expedited track so that you can apply for tenure after a year or two!
Been watching you off and on since the Disney related videos. So great to see you grow and succeed.
Thank you so much for your continued support!
Good information.

That's a lot of docs to get travel reimbursement. Especially to compare different airlines. Who does that ?
Government entities 😑 I'm trying to save them (and taxpayers) money, but they make it so complicated that it's not worth it!
