ABOUT THE IMAGE : In the manga, he is just a boy here !! He's broken.. and it shows !! The boy simply gazes at the moon in wonder.. Where am I going? (Those were his exact words), and as he gets up.. A pack of wolves confront him.. And the boy does what he is destined to do; he survives.. Because he is the struggler, the one who bears it all.
"Would've been easier just to lie there and die like that." We all know what this feels like, but most of the time we get up and struggle on. Even though it is likely our trauma isn't as severe as what Guts endures it still captivates and motivates us to press on.
This track is so important to me honestly... Not only does it make Guts' story in itself a relatable master piece, but the song itself conveys so much meaningful emotion without uttering a single word about life in general. I don't just listen to this track because I love Berserk so much... But instead because... it really makes me reflect on my own life. The song itself feels like a sort of... warm, faded memory... or perhaps like a warm blanket... a moment of comfort from all of life's hardships. Probably all three. Maybe I'm just really emotional right now simply because its late at the time of writing this comment, but this song has the emotional impact to make me shed tears when alone in complete solitude. This song, to me, is the definition of longing, broken dreams, and failed expectations... but also... hope. I think this song is the very definition of the struggle of mankind. I don't think I would be in this good an emotional state if I didn't have this song to draw out my deepest emotions.
when my dad was a teenager, he would lay underneath his car in the middle of the night to keep warm while staring at the stars.... and this song made me think of memories like that. it's such a self-reflecting song.
Listening to this driving home from work after finding out about Miura's death. RiP to a legend who gave us decades of an incredible tale that touched so many and inspired so many artists and industries and his fans to keep struggling on. Thank you, Miura!
Guts might be the most tragic character in all of fiction. The things he endures cannot be rivaled. I'd say maybe Jean Valjean is probably second, but good grief, Guts has an extremely difficult life. Pressing on despite everything that has happened to him. Because he's a fighter, and he'll never give up.
Imo Kaneki is right up there with guts. I read both but I feel more sorry for Kaneki than guts. Even through all the struggles Kaneki has went through he is still nice to people. Guts on the other hand is brash and kind of rude even though he’s doing it to protect his heart and sometimes others due to being hurt so much.
In my personal opinion i feel kaneki has went through more and feel more sorry for him. Maybe it's because kaneki isn't an asshole all the time like GUTs idk but i sympathize more with kaneki.
Berserk is many things. Dark, brutal and edgy, but with humour, drama and moments that makes you want to think about things. Like Life and Dreams, what lies ahead of your journey, showing ones willpower, strength and emotions, and discover what you believe in. This song, sure can bring up these things.
This is the version of the song I remembered. When I heard about the passing of Guts and Kentaro. It’s finally over. But just because they are chilling and resting now. Doesn’t mean we all give up. Keep fighting. For them both!
I used to listen to this all the time when I felt really lonely trying to fall asleep and it really helped me to improve. We are forever grateful for the story and lessons Sir kentarō gave us, so many memorable characters and Life lessons. I hope he finds peace like the one he gave us. Rest in Peace Sir kentarō & thank you. ♥️🖤♥️🖤
back when i was a kid, i used to run in the open grasses of my hometown, now they're long gone, i have yet to find another land of grass, to put them on. Nothing will be wrong afterwards
Outside on deck, watching the stars come out one by one, thinking about my own solitude, Guts' pain...and destiny...ours, his, mine, yours, and how this music reaches deep into your soul and pulls your heart inside out....
Dangit, HOW? When 1:27 hits I feel this surge of emotions that i can't quite identify, and I haven't even watched the show. HOW?? How does something I know very little about hit me that hard?
The picture makes me think of a possible ending scene of Berserk. Guts having beaten Griffith and removed the brand, is for the first time since he got it able to rest and look up at the night sky without being attacked. Happy ending Casca is lying to his right, unhappy ending everyone in Gut's group has died in the defeat of Griffith and his army. I can't say which one I'd prefer, or to be more accurate, which would be more appropriate given the tone that Miura has set out.
I feel like he’s gonna kill Griffith and then ultimately take his spot as king as he only knows to fight and survive. This quest for vengeance is eating him alive, consuming him
I have seen people begging for Guts to have a happy ending. As much as the humanity in me wants that, it would feel wrong. It would burn at the back of your soul in the way Griffith's betrayal hit Guts.
@@jesschilders2333 i'm thinking about the ending where guts consumed by berserker armor and just slaughter Griffith and everything in sight. friends or foe he'll kill it and at the end of the chapter he died because his life drained by the armor(i'm thinking about this Ending after see golden age arc and i think miura just gonna give guts a little good time and at the ending he just give US crippling depression like we got at golden age arc)
As I sit a top the hill and gaze out it's almost as if I can see each of their dreams flickering in each little light in the roaring fire that is Griffith's dream. Like a bonfire of dreams.
Guts was created in the absence of beauty, guidance and love. He was instead born in blood, death and horror. He is a creature of tragedy. However, it is through the interactions with other people, which he at first feared so much, that he became able to percieve something greater than the past that scars and haunts him. Very occasionally, the red haze fades, and he can see beauty. Beauty in nature, beauty in other people, beauty in everything. He is not a monster, but a human. it's not written by me n.n
Guts deserved an ending where his heart could just be what he always was. A gentle person with kind desires. He has been trough a lot of darkness and being confused for so long. I wish he is resting by a bonfire just thinking how life is great even with so much problems. Be well wherever you are, my friend. I learned so much with you. Rest in peace Miura.
Yes. An excellent transition of Guts’s theme to befit a medieval rendition of his song in the world of Berserk. Also the description about dreams fits well with this photo of Guts battered and broken as a child gazing up at the sky struggling and without a dream. His strong will and tenacity in facing every obstacle pushes him to find a dream even though he may not know it.
Ah yes, The Legend of Casca: A Guts to the Eclipse was such a great game! But really, the hurdy-gurdy sounding part reminded me of the soundtrack from Majora's Mask.
This is so beautiful...it means so much that moment when Guts is shown all his friends dreams like little flames and he thinks he has finally come to a place where his wandering can end...and then all of it is sacrified...it's so horrible when you already know it and not only everybody's gonna part ways and stuff but here this is so brutal and this is for ever... I see this song as a last goodbye to the good and fun times (like, I can hear Judeau playin it on harmonica or some kind of instrument like that -dunno- on the hill behind...) it embodies the few pieces of hope a band of mercenaries like them could have... I believe there are times in people lives like that (and as for me too) when you think you has finally come to some sort of 'shelter' from some kind of unforgiving world, and then the world reminds you nope you cannot escape it shatters and then all is left is to go on and walk... Berserk is an outstanding work 'cause it shows 'your' dreams (and most of all dream for power or potency) can break people lives and once it's done there's nothing to do about it but to walk and fight, even if like Guts you're disenchanted and have no more dream and quite nothing left, even if you know the little remnant of 'light' you still have shall not prevail, even if in the end what you seek to realize will not... It also shows about the structural violence that goes on in the world, about suffering that cannot be healed - there is no natural 'justice' and 'fairness' in such a world of violence, and I think it's true for our own too (I don't think it's part of "human nature" though it's more complicated than that). People who seek to end some sort of suffering and poverty for instance will probably have to face a life of disappointment defeat and powerlessness like Gut's one... but nevertheless, we walk. #strugglers #WalkinTheDark
There is something about that instrument that sounds like a flute or a horn...something magic, like nostalgic happiness...i love how sad it sounds but also how it resonates in my soul..
I don't know how and why this appeared on my recommendations, but thank you! This is beautiful. Makes me wonder when can we see the end of this beautiful masterpiece of a manga.

This scene in the manga is so deep to me, it represents Guts life as if his early life was just a glimpse of what's to come: it's bad but it WILL get worse so get stronger.
This art piece is prior to the eclipse guys. Bonfire of dreams references the scene where he discusses dreams with Casca. It gives the vibe of him being dreamy about his own dreams and ambitions.
