The most useful lathering video I’ve seen. Clear, concise, informative. Particularly helpful explanation of when to know the lather is ready to use. And a relief to know that the lathering process can be done in a few minutes. Thank you.
Just had the kit as birthday present and keen to try. Good to see the lather consistency at the end literally hanging off the brush. So that's what to aim for. Thanks.
I always struggle to get such a thick consistency with whichever soap I use so this tutorial has been a great help. Thanks. And I loved the sound effects 😊.
the consistency of this lather is not thick! the thick lather is not runny or has no big volume like this there is one video i stumbled in which shares the same idea what i think. when you do like this u will never enjoy your shave.
I fill the sink with hot water. mix my soap then let the bowl to float on the hot water with the brush inside. this means on each pass the soap and brush are nice and warm to the skin. I use one of those white enameled pie tins with the blue rim. it float and conducts really well
I prefer the soap and brush👍. I'm usually pressed for time in the morning. Splash my face, wet the brush, a few swirls of brush on soap, then get on with it shaving. Love my single blade safety razor. Zero clogs. I don't need a 5 blade disposable getting clogged w wiskers at $4 each. I'm much quicker with the simple shave.
Right? I didn't want to watch some random balding guy shaving. "oi here's how you get a lather". Boom, it magically appears. "and that's how it's done". Cool brah
Damn i didnt know you had to load and then lather. New to soaps and brushes but in the culinary world this is the exact same concept as whipping cream into soft/hard peaks. I thought you just ran your brush in your soap bar and that was it. Gona try this out 1st time tomorrow as i juat got my brush and van der hagen soap yesterday
would you mind telling us the name of the bowl and holder along with the safety razor in the video? looks sexy sitting on the counter and great setup. nice video
Like the tea cup for a soap cup, seems most shave cups are high sided, the tea cup is shallow and wider allowing for for buildup of more lather. Think I'll go find me antique tea cup for the job. Like your "set-up" too. cheers!
I’m not sure if it’s the soap I’m using or what but I can get a lather, put it on my face, it goes on nice and white but by the time I’m about 1/3 done with the shave, it all just kind of disappears and gets sticky almost
I need to try out lathering it in a bowl. I'm trying to lather on my face and it just won't lather, next time I shave I'll try using a bowl becouse I've been trying to face lather for a couple months and it's always so watered down that it looks like I took hand soap and tried lathering
At 33, I JUST got into shaving with a strait razor. Maybe I have too much free time but I actually started doing it because I was bored (and it's just so freaking cool)... But for the life of me, I can't produce a lather like this dude... Have a similar set-up but i'm using Sir Hair barber soap and it just doesn't work!.. I'm literally watching this vid and copying what he's doing and I get just a lil bit of sloppy azz foam. Think I might try that Synergy and see what happens... That was a great vid though. Definitely learned something. Blades don't have to reload!
Holy sh!t! I just looked up that shaving soap and it goes for $90 a can... Whaaaa??? Part of shaving "old school" is it's CHEAP!!! Apparently, I'm simply too poor to shave... Just the B*lls, T*int, and *sshole from now on. Gotta by the cartridges for that, boys. (don't try it with a strait... It will be bloody) They do it for us... Return the favor. Least we can do.
At last a how-to video with a view of the actual process of making lather, and not just a talking head this is in love with his own voice.
I love the sound effects too. Hehe. :3
I use the whisk attachment on my KitchenAid
I hope your joking 😂😂

Well I was wondering how you made it to the shower with all those people in your bathroom. :-) lmao

Great tutorial, thanks so much for being really detailed!
I could shave and then make a meringue pie with that thick lather!
Excellent vid, like your set up, simple and classy. Great idea to use a tray to keep everything together and off a potentially wet bench. 👍
Thanks for this vid man. Just started using a single edge razor and now I know what I was doing wrong. Lol
Great video. Going to try this later. Have always used gel and a brush. Bought myself a nice cup and soap.
Now that's a proper shaving lather. Well done.
Helpful man, always had trouble getting it down to a lather
Best video yet of any I have watched!
Nice demo, well done!
Works like a charm, Thank You

At first I was like dude get on with it! But the clapping was hilarious and totally worth it.
Well done, fine sir!
Kinda surprised he made one video and quit. This is really well done
I always held the bowl in my hand and never pressed the brush hard. Those were my mistakes. Never again! Thank you.
Damn i didnt know you had to load and then lather. New to soaps and brushes but in the culinary world this is the exact same concept as whipping cream into soft/hard peaks.

This guy just did a magic trick
Thank you! I did it wrong the first time, maybe I should have practiced considering I was also using a DE for the first time too Haha
Fantastico!!!
I love the tray and bowl, where can I get them?

Yea i agree. I think the wide bowl is deffo a key factor in making so much lather.
I have *not* been doing this correctly
I MAKE LATHER FROM THE WHITES OF THE EGGS.IT BECOMES FANTASTIC AND A NICE SHAVE
grat men !
i like that !
Legend has it that this guy has been in the bathroom taking showers and shaving for the past 7 years. Wife is not pleased.
Good job
Where did you pick that brand of soap up at ?, great video👍
Hmmmmm.... I was about to start brushing the soap until something happened. I'm glad I took a moment to check.
Simply perfect... 🪒
Like Music 🎹
What is the brand of soap? That box came with it? Looks so nice
I have a badger brush and can't foam Proraso cream. A little warm water on the brush, it stays thick. What am I doing wrong?
Where did you get that bowl? I like it.
I’m not sure if it’s the soap I’m using or what but I can get a lather, put it on my face, it goes on nice and white but by the time I’m about 1/3 done with the shave, it all just kind of disappears and gets sticky almost
white bowl with ear is original for shaving?
I need to try out lathering it in a bowl. I'm trying to lather on my face and it just won't lather, next time I shave I'll try using a bowl becouse I've been trying to face lather for a couple months and it's always so watered down that it looks like I took hand soap and tried lathering
Damn man that’s a nice set up you got there. Where did you get the porcelain tray from?
What brand bowl and white holder is that?
do you mind telling what plate, bowl, and the thing used to hold the tools are?
You know, the thing.
Where’d you learn to move your wrist that fast in that direction?

I want to know where you got that tray That's what I want to know lol
awesome vid! what brand of soap are you using
What kind of shave mug is that? Just curious. Looking for a decent mug for shaving. The one in this video looks perfect for that.
Nice dense and merangue-like consistency lather. Kudos for not using that moronic description if "yogurty"!
so I use the bowl, Genius ....
I was whipping the soap into lather on my face
Ok but how do you clean up after the shave?
Great...
That's my preferred lather I lather like that
Nice
Where did you get the bowl?
Thanks 👍 what soap is that?
Is there any way we can get the names of the products you were using
Why was there no round of applause when you stripped off for your shower?
What shaving set is this?
Can I and where do I get that soap now ??
Nice video with no bullsh**
What is brand is that shaving soap? Plz post link.
What kind of shave soap are you using?
What audio equipment are you using?
I love. Soap. That is. Beautiful to God😣🖤
What shave soap is that exactly?
Are you just rinsing the lather off of your soap puck, and air drying?
In the shave soap, the round divot, is that there when you buy or did you ware it down?
Cassandra Morehouse he wore it down.
Would irish spring count as "good quality soap"?
Tried making lather for the first time today, epic failure. Thanks for the video, I'll give this a try tomorrow.
Where did you get that bowl?
what make of soap did you use ?
