#2 First days at our cottage on the Lake

- This week we saw our lakeside property for the first time and spent our time assessing the condition of the main cabin and cleaning up. We got the main fireplace up & running enjoyed the beautiful sunny days in the snow.

The place has so many little cabins full of treasures some we haven’t even been inside yet! We will definitely be starting a collection as we go through each cabin finding all the old gifts :)
The mirror 🪞 with the little watches 🧭 in it is beautiful . I see a message there. The sides of it 🪞 look like dragon 🐉 heads on each side . Marking your journey through the seas to your destination to the North . Vikings are smiling upon you ❤

It is a perfect location for a cabin. It looks like the dogs love playing in the snow, which I assume they have never seen before.
That kitchen stove seems a bit odd. Most of those have a visible flue pipe going up to the ceiling or wall and over to the main chimney.

Yes they love it, it’s their first time in the snow.
The kitchen flue shares the chimney with the big fireplace but it has a separate flue which is probably blocked…..
location of it is not ideal so probably will relocate it to a better spot anyway :)

Oh! It’s a very special place we’ve worked hard from the ground up over many years to get to this point and even still the road is long ahead, but you can definitely reach your goals, don’t give up and just go in baby steps. Every little bit counts 💙

Yes very lucky with the wood situation. The old owner passed a long while ago but we felt a connection to their spirit, the place had been visited by the family but no work done for over 30 years. Very fortunate for the state it was left in. ☺️

We definitely felt a connection to the old owner who built the place up, he passed away 30 years ago but the place was very loved and we hope we can respect the past while bringing our own special touch to the place 😊

Single glazing and here am I thinking all Scandinavians had triple. At least the sun comes in the windows ... In respect to cleaning the adage cleanliness is next to godliness comes to mind
Technically speaking this was a summer house so it’s not yet been properly winterized for the winter months, the windows are double glazed right now but we will likely switch to triple glazing during renovations for extra coziness 😊

There is a water source but it’s not winterized yet so that will be one of our big jobs for spring/summer :)
