Small detail: Hanako was sincerely reciting the definition of shogi Maeda had previously taught her in the previous episode, when the shogi club came to fight them for the classroom. That's why she was genuinely shocked when everyone politely asked her to give up trying to make her insane argument. Kasumi and Olivia probably taught her what shogi actually was off-screen, explaining her sudden change in attitude towards the butt beam lol

In case you guys don't know yet, the Lord of Pastimers girl looks like that because she's a member of the Gyaru subculture. Some of a typical Gyaru's traits include darkening skin; wearing bizarre makeup, colored wig and provocative clothes; and hanging out at clubs and joining "pleasure seeking" activities. This is not a racial mockery by any means since the main purpose of it was to rebel against the standard idea of how a Japanese woman should look like (light skinned, black haired, wearing modest clothes and pleasant makeup, staying away from frivolous lifestyle, etc). There's also a male version called Gyaruo.
The fact that Asobi Asobase dared to show an example of this subculture in their show (a very shocking one, even) is a very bold move, especially when they know damn well that international audience is starting to pay more attention to anime.

Ah that's what it was! I know I heard the term Gyaru before as well but I completely forgot what it meant. Now we know; Thank you so much for explaining that to us! -Alex

@@vmvengsub3812 Exactly. A thing I want to add is, that like in every culture world wide, progression never ends and Gyarus become more and more accepted. You can compare it a little bit with goth culture in the west, where till the 80's 90's it was a very secluded subculture but became more and more represented in media (especially 80's synth like Depeche Mode, The Cure and New Order) same goes with Gyarus in Japan through anime. Technically Marin from My dressup Darling is a light Gyaru and that anime became a huge hit. Just as example. Yeah that's just what I wanted to add.

@@Mandred85 oh I love the goth subculture. Definitely won't claim that I am one or that I know a lot about them, but I find their fashion style fantastic. One of my favorite goth youtuber is ItsBlackFriday.

I lost my shit the first time I saw the laser scene. I couldn't believe they set up the joke in the previous episode, and it not only paid off, but led to an entire backstory explanation involving aliens and a redemption arc. This show is wild.

The author is the wild one here. Amazing story telling and god-tier humor. I can re-watch this show time and time again and with each next rewatch I wheeze the same amount as I did before.

In the Manga the aliens come back to take their laser in his butt, turns out the aliens used it to make some kind of love letter for their lover
