Great singer from the early to mid 80s with an incredible voice. She was classically trained, and if you want to hear her chops, and how good her range is, try "We live for love". Plenty of great songs - "Heartbreaker", "All Fired Up", "Hit Me with your Best Shot", and "Hell is for Children" are more rocking, and there are also some showing her softer side, like her cover of Alan Parsons' "Don't Let it Show".
These 80's videos slay me! Not just because of the dancing, it's just that so many of them are so distracting from the music itself! Oh well, that was the MTV era!

This was the middle / peak MTV era so it has the 80's synth pop sound but her first album is more straight forward rock. This was commercially successful but I like here early stuff better. Still waiting for some Emmy Lou Harris (but don't do Pancho and Lefty, it's popular but more of a story)...

The song is about child abuse and was suppose to bring awareness to what some children live through. One of my favorite songs by her was, Hit Me With Your Best Shot.
She does have a great voice but she always seemed a little pre-packaged to me. I like Chrissie Hynde with The Pretenders better. She wrote material for the band (and her solo stuff) and was part of the scene in London with the Clash, Sex Pistols, etc. before coming back to the States. Official music videos In order of production values 😅 : *Tattooed Love Boys* is early and pretty damb raw. *Talk of the Town* Very Chrissie. I love this. Also the video is very two-tone 80s *Back on the Chain Gang* has a sad backstory. -------------- *Brass in Pocket* was their big breakthrough hit. They also did a great cover of *Creep* in later career.

She definitely had/has some pipes! This was never, particularly a favorite of mine. The video is sooo corny. The '80s were corny in general IMO. MTV was corny as hell. I can't think of a song from her at the moment that fired me up, but she really was a great artist.
