    I think you’re pretty harsh with your evaluation of Jalen Green this game. Overall, he was a net positive. And he didn’t force the issue. Your review would be much more scathing if he did force the issue with a negative outcome. He slipped into a more, complementary role for this game and I won’t fault him for that. OKC is really good at collapsing the paint and providing perimeter defense. There’s a reason why Sengun also had a modest offensive game and Amen and Tari didn’t get too many points on the board. It would’ve been helpful if he could’ve facilitated more, but until he solidifies that skill, OKC is not the team you want him experimenting with. I agree he could’ve attempted more three-point shots. But this was not the matchup for him to attempt to take over. Honestly, it could be deemed as sign of maturity that he recognized that. Jabari and Reed on the other hand need to feast in these matchups going forward.

    • @LockedOnRockets
      @LockedOnRockets  8 дней назад +1

      "Slipping into a more complimentary role" would totally be fine if his "normal" role was producing at a high level, but it's not. THIS has become the new normal for him, and for this Rockets team to reach their ceiling, they need Jalen to step up CONSISTENTLY.

    • @jeremiahumoh7952
      @jeremiahumoh7952 8 дней назад

      @@LockedOnRockets I agree with that, but within the context of this particular game how pertinent is that? I feel he deserves some grace with this matchup. That being said, he needs to average 20 ppg over these next six games or he is indeed underperforming.

    Even though we are 1-1 against all OKC, keep in mind that they destroyed us on their court, while we needed to give it all for a close win last night, and they were without Chat and Caruso, very vital players to their game.

    Jackson! Dude come on…I was with you until your comments about Jalen ….why are you always harsh on Jalen??? I’m happy for this rockets win because we ALL played well no matter who scored or not. Jalen only took 6 shots because the ball wasn’t coming back to him…there were multiple times throughout the game where Jalen was wide open and other players decided to take it themselves…Fred missed him on some fastbreak opportunities…I love the fact that Fred was on a heater this whole game but he should’ve let Jalen in on the actions a little. I don’t even like doing this because I’m happy for the win…but it absolutely kills me when people start harping on Jalen knowing what this guy is going through. We say it all the time that Jalen can go score whenever he wants but he’s sacrificing because all he cares about is winning…I watch your videos all the time because I like your views on the game but I don’t like the comments like that because that’s the type of narratives that could drive a player to requesting a trade

    me: anytime jg drives in, you can put all your money as a defender he will try to score himself. he just needs to change this and make more assists.
    chatgpt: Jalen Green's tendency to drive and try to score rather than dish out assists is definitely something he's been criticized for. If he starts looking for teammates more often, especially when defenders collapse on him, it could elevate his game and make the team more dangerous. It’s about finding the balance between scoring and facilitating.
    me: was there a good player who had same issues then fixed it?
    chatgpt: Yes, Russell Westbrook had similar issues early in his career, focusing heavily on scoring and driving to the basket. Over time, he adjusted and became a better playmaker, particularly during his MVP season when he averaged a triple-double. He learned to use his speed and vision to create opportunities for teammates rather than always going for the finish himself. It took time, but his development into a more well-rounded player shows that it’s possible for Green to make that shift as well.

    My only fear about this team is that they will push the motivation to fix bad shots to the background with the feeling that we are good at defense anyway and we will win the ball back anyways. This is important, poorly chosen shots, missing more shots than necessary can be tiring in the long run and injuries can start again (Yes JG issue). This needs to be taken care of, other than that, the Houston media, on the field and off the field,players coach and finally fans everyone started to act as one man, all these are the clues of future success.

    Jalen Green has no excuses for not comfortably averaging 22+ ppg. This team has player after player who can cover for him on the defensive end. He should feel free to be more assertive and take 20+ shots per game. Lord knows he’s not completely busting his ass elsewhere on court. He is improved on defense but only with regard to his defensive skill set. The effort hasn’t changed much. If he’s only going to average 17/18 ppg, then he needs to 1) shoot a better % and 2) fill up the box score elsewhere, a la a Malcom Brogdon kind of 16/5/5 kind of guy with nice shooting percentages. (Spoiler alert - no one pays a Brogdon type player the type of money JG is getting paid on his extension.)
    So is it a coaching fail that JG isn’t more involved in the offense? Or an effort and consistency problem out of JG? Or both?

    Hey Jackson, the guys over on Locked on NBA were picking on this video - stating that your announcement of the Rockets arrival is premature. I posted a comment that Matt Moore was just afraid that the Rockets had over taken the Nuggets and they actually took down my post. I must have hit a nerve. He can dish it out but it seems he can't take it.

He saw the Sqaud he had with the Celtics win a championship this year and I know it hurt him. So he is getting this team where they need to go. The team is maturing and learning to play thru adversity. Hold it down for H Town 🤘🏿🤘🏿🚀🚀

    been to some of the best games this year, clippers, t-wolves and then this okc game last night. There definitely was definitely a playoff intensity in the crowd. The refs were so bad, all of the Toyota Center lit em up with a roaring "Refs Suck!" chant after 3 fouls in like 10 seconds on invisible contact. @LockedOnRockets, do refs actually do an audit of all their games? To improve their eyes and not guessimates, It's like the Bucks missed call that would have given us a better chance to win.

    What type of weird politics is going on with the rotations. Rather us play our best players and win games by better margins than experiment with Reed. Holiday clearly gives us a better option at point guard off the bench and after his solid play last year has earned the minutes. With Cam we know what he does when given the opportunity. The guy was so lethal last year people were calling the him Mr. points per minute. No idea why we shelf the guy after a few bad games given the type of talent he possesses and play a rook whose given us a minimum amount of impact night in and night out.
