To Richard Boudville,, I am so disturbed by the way U. Kyaw Nyein former deputy prime minister treated Htike Su Phayar Gyi. The Government of Burma at that time period should have been given financial support to the princess.
The Chief Librarian at the USIS in those days was Mrs Zelma Graham. Her signature was on my Library Card. This lady (Princess May) was appointed the Assistant Librarian at the USIS Library by Mrs Graham. She later worked at the Australian Embassy in Rangoon for 17 years. It was her good English from St Joseph's Convent in Moulmein that got her the job. God Bless you Princess May and may you live long.

One day the king showed off to an Indian merchant, touting the ruby as the world's biggest. The Indian took out a ruby almost the same size and showed it to the king. The king realized Nga Mauk had split the ruby, giving half to the king and selling the other half to the Indian merchant. Nga Mauk was condemned to death by a slow fire and his wife Mae Oo was made to watch from a hill forever known as Mae Oo Hmyaw Taung ( hill which Mae Oo looked from)". I believe it is now the centerpiece of the Queen's crown. A ruby with a history like that will only bring disaster to the British royalty. They can have it for all I care.

Interesting. Pwar May is probably my friends the late David Taw Paya and Richard Taw Paya's aunt. You may not like what I will say. The only Konbaung King I admire is U Aung Zay Ya. Most of the others mismanaged the country the country to ruin.
