Imagine a scenario, I am a gay man in a same sex relationship. I get into an accident, now hospital will need a family member to go through some terms and conditions. My partner will have no say in it. Why? Because in the eyes of law we are nothing but strangers. What if i die an unfortunate death? What if i haven't written a will yet? My partner will not get anything i own instead it will be given to my family and since in the name of law he's no one to me, he wont get anything. Now many of you might say that why would money matter to him? What if i bought something for him, its under my name. It will go to my family and not him. I cannot adopt with my partner. Sure one of us can do, but what if the the one who adopted the child dies? The partner will not have a legal guardianship of the child. I get it the marriage is a religious sentiment, but has Sanatan Dharm ever prohibited it? As much as I know, it hasn't.
But the biggest problem I think is that Hypothetically speaking if Supreme court permits them so, they will only reform hindu marriage act. They can't even touch muslim board or other community. Just imagine court ordering the muslim personal board to legalise same sex marriage. We all know what will happen in the whole country. So, In my opinion first implement UCC in the whole country then introduce this laws in the parliament for the betterment of this community.

Even if getting to imply ucc is difficult, same sex marriage can be placed under special marriage act. Though I agree that UCC is an important step to be made.

Even if marriage is not a fundamental right, there are many benifits that come along with marriage. I'll list those down.
Imagine a scenario, I am a gay man in a same sex relationship. I get into an accident, now hospital will need a family member to go through some terms and conditions. My partner will have no say in it. Why? Because in the eyes of law we are nothing but strangers.
What if i die an unfortunate death? What if i haven't written a will yet? My partner will not get anything i own instead it will be given to my family and since in the name of law he's no one to me, he wont get anything. Now many of you might say that why would money matter to him? What if i bought something for him, its under my name. It will go to my family and not him.
I cannot adopt with my partner. Sure one of us can do, but what if the the one who adopted the child dies? The partner will not have a legal guardianship of the child.
I get it the marriage is a religious sentiment, but has Sanatan Dharm ever prohibited it? As much as I know, it hasn't.
But the biggest problem I think is that Hypothetically speaking if Supreme court permits them so, they will only reform hindu marriage act. They can't even touch muslim board or other community. Just imagine court ordering the muslim personal board to legalise same sex marriage. We all know what will happen in the whole country. So, In my opinion first implement UCC in the whole country then introduce this laws in the parliament for the betterment of this community.
@@Mohit-58 yeah, ucc will do so much good. But I'm talking about Civil union, it is not marriage but the couple gets the same rights as one in a marriage does. Even if getting to imply ucc is difficult, same sex marriage can be placed under special marriage act. Though I agree that UCC is an important step to be made.
