  • Continuing on from our trip to Greyabbey Classic vehicle show, the next day found us at the Brian Steenson Memorial run. We stayed in Killyleagh on the Saturday night and made our way to Crossgar, stopping at Ernie's house to view his excellent collection of bikes

It's the weather that really makes it. Imagine good weather like this in September. I'm getting plenty of miles done.... you've probably seen me!

Yes Cecil, we also met up with Ed Coulter on Saturday night in the pub. Some chat about the old days in Stateside.

Another good day out but the organisers of the parade lap need to sort something out. I was sixth away with the first group and the leading marshal along with a few sports bike riders simply buggered off leaving the rest of us with little idea where we were supposed to go. I was told later that the leading group was seen going through a small village at about 80 mph in a 30!. The police turn a blind eye to the parade lap so that some people can bring classic racing bikes out for a run but if this nonsense continues a few riders will ruin it for everyone..

I agree, as you can see in the video I stopped outside the village to film the bikes going past so I ended up a lot further back. I never intended completing the whole run turned right at the Quoile bridge, out on to the main road then a quick left for Ballynahinch and home. The last time I did the cavalcade I was overtaken by a race bike on the main road. It's all fine until something happens then the shit hits the proverbial fan.
