As I live in Latinamerica (Mexico) where new movies in physical media are no longer sold or manufactured (we can only buy new physical releases imported in Amazon) this store is a dream to me and this makes me miss those old days when I had the chance to be at a Blockbuster for hours only walking through the store and seeing all the movies they had and finding opportunities to buy new ones.
How come they let you in these shops with your dog? Are you blind now?! Also YES to you filming yourself out and about. Allow us to make the journey with you…where else you might go in town, where you go for lunch etc. let us live vicariously through you! 😉

Or a video going into your history with the medium, your journey as a collector/movie-liker? I know folks who have watched your channel from the start have probably formed a pretty coherent picture of your tastes, but I think a video like that would be super helpful as a bit of instant context for relatively new BB converts (like myself)
As an American, I'm very jealous of Brits that have access to HMV with all the amazing boutique labels in one physical location. It looks like a throwback to the 2000's of physical media shopping in the US. I would gladly pay a flat $30 for if they'd ship to the US. Awesome video, would gladly watch more of these!
It’s the only physical media shop left in the UK. I make a point of going and spending money regularly because I don’t want it to go away. Twenty years ago we had three in my town and on a Saturday the queen to pay for your goodies went all the way out the door! The good old days.

Seeing as your gaze briefly alighted on Breaking The Waves I was wondering whether you ever watched Von Trier’s “The Kingdom” I’m sure you’re aware of the recent MUBI release but if you’ve not watched it then I’d heartily recommend it. Surreal, haunting, dreamlike, shocking, baffling, engrossing, nightmarish and frequently utterly hilarious it’s a great package for a superb original show (Yes, forget Stephen King’s inferior rehash) Very Lynchian in style plus the third “season” being a much more recent 5 episode “event” that pushes the button marked meta it’s a boxset that can easily be devoured over a weekend and one that will equally boggle, baffle and bewilder. Plus Udo Kier is truly unforgettable and the third series even brought in Willem Dafoe! Anyhow, would love to hear your views if you’ve seen it or plan to do so. A perfect side dish to the Curzon set despite there still being a big Dancer In The Dark hole left in my collection. Oh, and thanks for reminding me to buy The Hunger. Dug out my DVD only last week and watched it but been wanting the Blu and forgot it was already an HMV exclusive.

Nice video, love Blossom, Really cute. Absolutely used to love browsing HMV and Virgin Megastores back in the day. Now however I’m very much an Amazon guy. The offers and the returns policies are absolutely brilliant, especially for the boutique labels, but you really have to keep your eye on the price drops. Preordered Fear and Loathing on 4k for £14.99 and I remember purchasing in December ‘22 the first three Dario Argento 4K Arrow boxsets for £19.99 each. Certainly a nice drop from £29.99 advertised when first sold. Revolution for £15! Bought it a few years back during a BFI flash sale. Think I spent £7 on it.

Hey, does anyone know when the best Criterion deals hit the UK? I know the US has annual half-price sales, but do we have anything similar in the UK? If so, when and where? Cheers.
HMV have label specific sales (incl. Criterion) from time to time. Just a case of keeping your eye open on the website drop-down menu, or popping in your local store if you're lucky enough.
Certainly on my 'to buy' list. It's an old Section 3 video nasty. The same label (Treasured Films) also put out 'The Last Hunter' which is another section 3 movie.
I have the first Columbo (Series 1-7) box set on Blu-ray that came out in December 2023. It's a standard Blu-ray but the original 35mm film was scanned at 4K.

HMV in my town closed years ago apart from CEX and Asda with a very limited Dvd library nowhere in my town sell physical media anymore
