  • I ride to an ancient wonder of the world called Stonehenge. Motorbiking over the Salisbury Plains, with its straight long roads with the sun on your back. A real cruiser ride, feels like cruising America on a Harley Davidson. However I am in the UK on a Triumph Speedmaster!!
With military helicopters over head and and tank zones nearby, you know you are on Salisbury Plains. With its beautiful motorcycle roads, Stonehenge lays at the end. A famous ancient wonder of the world, this formation of stones really is worth the trip. A mysterious piece of history.

When I was a kid in the 1970's I went to Stonehenge on a school trip. Back then there was no barrier to stop you getting to the stones. So we climbed over them. I can see why that's not possible today but it's a shame people can't touch them now. Some of the stones had fallen over the decades and were placed back in what was thought to be their original position in the 1950's. The Sarsen stones have been identified as having come from a source around 20 miles awy. So for them to have been moved over such a large distanmce by hand must have been an incredible feat. There is also evidence of an earlier circle on the site. The area certainly has a magical quality.

Thanks, that was good to read 👍 Yup I suppose as time goes on, restrictions get tighter!! Climbing over them would be fun haha!!
Incredible place, so mysterious as to how they did it so long ago and without modern technology. I like the way so little is know about how they did it.
      All the best

Hi, yea I really like it! Have taken the short cut across the Salisbury Plains many times. Great ride and drive!
Funnily enough it was my first time visiting Stonehenge, even though I have riden/driven past it hundreds of times 😂

I second that, try Avebury too. Somewhat quieter and really impressive with Silsbury Hill nearby. Salisbury Plain is a magical place.

Forgive my poor attempt at humor but Stonhenge should remind you to get busy ordering your skid plate. Seriously enjoyed seeing the view as we never got there either on our last trip.
