Elrond kissing his mother-in-law is a weird play (especially the swelling music), even if it is to slip Galadriel a means of escape. Fun fact, the dwarves chant (Baruk Khazad!) means “The axes of the dwarves!” and is usually followed by “Khazad Ai-Menu!” (There are accents there that I don’t know how to replicate in RUclips’s app), which means “The dwarves are upon you!” Interesting fact about the rings: in the books, it isn’t the 1 (Sauron), the 3 (elves), the 7 (dwarves), and the 9 (men), it’s the 1, the 3, and the 16. The 16 are a kind of prototype that “Annatar” helped with over centuries. Celebrimbor smells something fishy and forges the 3 in secret, but they aren’t used after Sauron forges the one, which reveals his betrayal to all. Sauron then leads the orcs to attack Eregion, killing Celebrimbor and taking the 16. He gives 7 to the 7 dwarf-lords and 9 to great lords of men (three from Numenor and at least one from the East). The 7 don’t work quite as intended because the dwarves are literally too stubborn to be affected, but they do cause great greed, which leads to the unearthing of the Balrog in Moria, and dragons becoming interested in other dwarves lands (imagine Smaug from the Hobbit, but worse), which ends up weakening the dwarves anyway. Also, orc metal (the credits song) rocks! Edit: I completely missed that Vox Machina drops next week! Next Thursday is gonna be awesome!!!
Joking aside, this episode was absolutely incredible. I think the kiss was a rare unforced error that shouldn’t have happened, but it wasn’t a huge deal and the other 99.9% of the episode more than made up for it. I hope Charlie Vickers and Charles Edwards get awards for their performances this season. Really incredible work.
@@LouiseJulie_ Agreed, I don’t think anyone is confused that there was no romance in the kiss, it was clearly a distraction and an effective one. I just think something like a kiss on the forehead, between two close (plutonic) friends who’ve exhibited no romantic tendencies before, would have allowed the exact same distraction moment for the narrative without feeling weird and skin-crawly, with Elrond kissing his future mother in law. I dunno. Like, in-universe I think it works fine, mostly. It’s for the sake of the audience that I wish the show had made a different choice. Anyway, it really was a very small thing in the grand scheme, the rest of the episode was incredible.
Celebrimbors actor did such a good job this episode. I’ve been rooting for Sauron the whole series but the actor made me feel so bad for celebrimbor and reconsider. But Charlie Vickers has killed it as Sauron in both halbrand and Anatar form. I hope he becomes halbrand again when he ends up on numenor
I really am disappointed in Peter Jackson for misusing Elrond so. Had he accurately displayed his teleportation abilities, LOTR would have ended so much quicker. All jokes aside, bro has been all over Eriador in the last four episodes
Amazingly breathtakingly epic episode. So effing great. Charles Edwards gave a masterpiece of acting.

100% agreed. Pretty sure it was just a distraction. Also I think elrond said forgive me because he was going to kiss her lol
there was nothing romantic about the kiss, it was clearly a distraction. a hug would have been too obvious
this episode was so poorly written i don't understand how anyone could defend it.

@@Adam-xg1ch shhh, the adults are talking right now
After watching the behind the scenes stuff I think the kiss meant nothing like Leia kissing Luke especially when you look at Galadriel's face lol

Wow first hour
One bot to rule them, and in the darkness, bind them

Best show ever, and better than the Peter Jackson battles - thanks to Amazon for this
LOL
