      +Arvin Roundstone I really don't and I wish I did. But it's more than that though. Normally, I value content over sound. However a really great rapper/producer team, makes it sound good. You know that feel when you listen to college dropout or late registration? You know, it's just a feeling you get inside, that says: "Wow this sounds good". After a couple of times listening, you really start to rock with the lyrics. That creative approach. mixed with purpose in the lyrics and dope production, is why I can still listen to those album today. Yeezus didn't give me that feeling, and that's why I'm not down with it

      Remember The Manifesto? Talib at the time was about sharing his truth. Hell, his name means truth seeker. So it's easy to see why he would be incensed at some guy who he feels he's already helping making him lie and do theatrics. Now might be different but this was a long time ago.

    At the end of the day I'm a fan of both artist but Kanye makes better music than Talib...Talib may be more lyrical but it all comes down to how make the best music, music isn't meant to always be lyrical but to make you feel some.type of emotion don't nobody want to listen to depression and oppression all the time you need something that you can let loose too

      Talib on top

    • @bboyfan22
      @bboyfan22 11 лет назад +8

      That's ONLY because Kanye's beats are dope. Give Kweli and Kanye the same beats and Talib will have the better songs, but that's not solely a testament to Kweli's lyrical abilities either it's also a testament to his song writing abilities (which are 2 different things). He's a better song writer than Kanye AND he's a better rapper than Kanye. Kanye makes incredible beats and he knows how to ride the beat flow wise but his song rarely have substance, and rarely go any deeper than the surface, especially not recently.
      For a long time I've been saying that if Kanye was humble enough to recognize his strengths AS WELL as his weaknesses and acknowledge that he's not a great rapper and give his beats to better song writers he'd be a huge part of making some truly great music.

    • @julianisrice
      @julianisrice 10 лет назад +4

      bboyfan22
      but you know what the problem is? Kweli CAN'T and DOES NOT HAVE THE SKILLS to make beats likewise to Kanye, so you cannot do that comparison.
      Kanye was introduced to the game by making beats for other rappers like jay-z and that's why he prospered and had the power to be a rapper if he wanted to. He already did that, and hes producing beats for pusha t so yeah

    • @bboyfan22
      @bboyfan22 10 лет назад +3

      Julian Baile It's a perfectly legitimate comparison. I'm comparing their abilities as song writers and rappers. Kweli is better. Kanye has good beats because that's where his strength is, it's not in rapping. I really don't see how you can say it's an unfair comparison.

      Kurt K When you think about it, it takes more skill because the piano keys are easy, of we could just press one key to get the same chords, on any of those other instruments, it would be the same, honestly , learning all those chords is cool but when it comes down to it, not everyone can do it which also brings me to , what if someone has this dope melody but can't play?? and it only sound right on Sax. , they may never get that idea out into the world to be used like all the piano melodies we already have and new songs constantly coming out from pianist

    sure jay may think he can, but I've never seen anything from him lyrically to back up that claim...yeah jay has his niche (speaking on the ups and downs of the hustler life) and mastered it, but talib pretty much has no limit lyrically...dude drops knowledge like a college professor...not surprising since both his parents were professors

    I work with white guys, black guys, and latinos. I guess I'm 1/3 partially privileged then, huh? anybody want a beat? hit the channel.
    I don't give a shit WHO is rapping, WHO the more knowledgable fan is, or WHO is making the beats. Good is good and shit is shit - and good is for everyone.
    I pay my respects to black culture for ALL it has done for our American music, including country and rock. (Back beat BELONGS to Africanisms in music. PERIOD)

    I gotta agree with talib. He's such a better producer fthan artist. I understand producers are underappreciated by people, mot rappers but the public. The beat is so important as far as the quality of the song. So to get famous to the dumber public you do what kanye did even tho he's not good at it imo. No disrespect to kanye cause you cannot take away his quality as a musician, just feel his production way more than his rap.

    Kanye was in the wrong for not respecting Talibs wishes, BUT when you believe in YOURSELF more than the next person does in you. ..then thats the risk you take. Talib wouldnt mind opening up for Kanye now:)★

      Some have suggested that if you want to know a person's true age check the rings on their neck. It's close to checking the rings on a tree stump.

    nah, i think he's kinda right, man. I mean, as far as EVERYONE in a racial group (those comments get stupid quickly, though), blacks DO tend to know more hip hop culture than whites. shit's relative... two fans who are both obsessed would know pretty much the same - white or black.
