- This is a 28mm wargame AAR using the Spectre Operations rule set. The LSW Kota Bharu, a Malaysian cargo ship is captured. The Marines of the Maritime Raid Force attempt to retake the ship before she is scuttled. The 9ft. ship in this game is entirely scratch-built. All miniatures are from Empress Miniatures. #SpectreOperations, #Wargaming, #28mm, #AfterActionReport, #Terrain
Stop the madness! There's even little drill presses in the workshop, with schematics on the table? What level of badassery is this? Awesome work, gentlemen.
Thank you for the view and nice comment! Stay tuned we have more to come!
I'd love to see a video of how they made the ship
Outstanding ship terrain! The overall structure is great, and the internal levels allow for some challenging room-to-room clearing, but those little details like the Pepsi machine and the unrolled map are even more immersive
Thanks for the view and comment. That boat was an obsession project for months. So i am very appreciative to hear someone noticed some details!
Loved the irony of the “Safety First” sign behind the final shootout
I love the, I assume, "de-milled" Bren gun as it makes for a very striking conversation piece! I saw a similar one for sale at an antique store years ago and was instantly anamored with it.
Definitely love the game set-up and play as well. Pre-Covid, did something similar with a deralict off shore oil-rig in a Post-apocalyptic type of fashion. Sort of a Waterworld meets Road Warrior scenario to emerge as Water Warrior!😆
The guys loved my set-up, but, to be quite honest to game mechanics sucked and found the attacking boats to be very problematic.
Thanks Dave. Yeah Bren is a valued member of our club. I'd love to see your oil rig, I bet that was a cool set up.
I never subscribe to a channel with only 3 videos, but you guys have such great AARs that I couldn't help myself! Subscribed!
Thanks for the sub! We have some cool stuff planned for 2022!
That is a impressive board you had for this game. I never had the desire to wargame anything GWOT related but if i did i hope i could do it in that kind of style.
Thanks for the view @ Ranger Miniatures and Gaming !
Let's go man! This looks killer, even better than I had imagined; well done!
Thanks brother sad you missed it! We need to make sure you're down for the next one. Its been to long!
Top notch on all aspects - terrain, minis, narration, visual aids; the whole 9 yards.
Thanks for the view and comment Matt!
Great stuff! Love Spectre!
You guys have just set the new Gold standard for ship scenery..wow!😎
Glad you like it James! Thanks for the view.
@@LongShotWargaming Have you cataloged it's construction anywhere?
@@kickassmailorder9095 Unfortunately I didn't really think about capturing the build process. But it is almost exclusively MDF construction. The interior spaces are 1/4 inch MDF and the Hull is 3/4 inch. A six month passion project!
@@LongShotWargaming Well it really turned out! Quite the signature set piece! Keep it up.
Another great AAR guys, looking forward to the next one. Good to see something that is out of the ordinary. Great set up and well done with the ship build. Good looking Bren gun too!
Thanks Brett! we had a great time playing this one.
Excellent work on the AAR! This is top quality stuff, for an underrated game, with a superb set up. Great stuff! You just earned a subscriber. :)
Thanks for the view/sub Tontis!
This is top quality in all aspects! The good maps help to understand the action on board. Really great Battlereport. Thank you.
On a Ship!!! Very good presentation and a great ship you have built there. Missing some Booby Traps. Very nice AAR!
Thanks Ben! Yes, will definitely be adding some trip wires, low light, and alertness next game. All the goodies possible in Spectre Operations
Great looking game, amazing ship model!
Outstanding battle report, thanks for sharing.
Thank you Pete for the view and comment!
That ship is fantastic. Funny watching this playout my Son was on the LHA4 Nassau carrying out a fair share of VBSS near and around the horn of Africa. Great ship design and layout and excellent narration for AAR. Thank you for an entertaining vid gentlemen. Are either of you Marsoc or have you been? In over 50 years of gaming have never seen this layout or play of this nature before today. Very very cool setup. The details are stunning and exemplify a very serious builder and gamer who loves his hobby and it certainly shows. Bravo Zulu !
Thanks for the view and comment! We are glad to hear you enjoyed it. two of the four members of our club are marines, a combat engineer (7th ESB) and a red patcher (11th MEU). We also have an army artilleryman,.......but we don't talk about that, ,Semper Fi!
Great model, great narration. Again - Thank you for your work!
Outstanding battle report. Excellent stuff. I love the Spectre Ops book and this definitely makes me want to get cracking. Subbed. 👍🏻
Thanks Daniel! Spectre is great, we actually just started a new Spectre project. Stay tuned!
Wow that game room is museum quality. I’m very impressed with this report hope to see more.
Thanks for the view/comment Burro C! We hope to have a new one out very shortly!
That thing is HUGE!!!....but a wonderful space for game play!!!...and yeah, the drillpress was a cherry on the top!!!🤘
Great gaming lads! Love it. Great game room too.
Best terrain of 2021.
Wow! That is quite a proclamation! Glad you liked it!
Absolutely stunning gameplay! Spectre Ops is such an amazing game for cool narrative play as shown here- the beginning sounded like something straight out of a documentary! Excellent work, I hope to see more soon :)
Thanks for the view Sean!
Incredible AAR, excellent combination of showing actual gameplay, game progression and narration. The board is amazing and your game room inspires me in how to decorate my own. Sub earned! Keep up the great work
Thanks Brian! Stay tuned we have some cool projects planned.
Great after-action! The maps really helped with keeping track of where units were at different points of the operation.
Thanks for the view Elroy!
Perfect video ! and that ship is just awesome.
Thanks, glad you liked it! Stay tuned for more!
I started building a cargo ship in 20mm about 15 years ago. I finally feel motivated enough to get back to it. Thanks!
Do It! I used mostly 3/4 and 1/4 inch MDF. What is yous built out of?
@@LongShotWargaming @Long Shot Wargaming Mostly MDF as well. I used some 1 x 1's as "ribs" I only have the basic hull done. Haven't started on the superstructure yet...
@@LongShotWargaming I always planned on doing mine with stacks of shipping containers on the deck, making a bit of a maze to fight in, but I haven't found reasonably priced pieces for what I want to do...
Another great after action report! I can’t wait for the next one
Thanks Wendy! We have more coming make sure to subscribe!
Nice to see the recon guys getting some screen time. Considering we had to haul them everywhere when I was on an amphib, lol.
Damn that was one great set up and game. Very well presented.
Thanks for the view/comment Christopher!
Very professional video. A pleasure to watch.
Thanks for the view Daniel, stay tuned for more!
This terrain map is awesome! I presume used for lots of things, otherwise a huge effort for one game!!!😂
Bit disappointed the table tennis table didn't have a net! 😉 Otherwise not a bad effort! Only kidding - very professional video and great viewing
Thanks Chris for the view and comment!
Outstanding video, we need another explaining how you made the ship. Great job.
Thanks Sparkey! I do wish i documented the build process a little better.
wow, thank you for the very nice battlereport.
Thanks for the view/comment!

Thanks MILITARY WARGAMING! We are subscribed to your channel and look forward to more videos!
@@LongShotWargaming thanks chaps and sorry I don’t check subscribers but we are doing loads with more professional elements in our wargame coming up, including operational planning, analysis on tactical decision making. In the next bound we have green team joining in with red and blue and they will be doing the asymmetric. Lucky we have several staff officers involved in the project all whom have done wargaming in the military so learning loads. Your work is too knotch so keep it up. Are you members of military wargaming if not please join and post there as quite a few military guys there

Great stuff guys 👍👍👍
Thanks for the view Walk About Games!
Such an amazing setup
Thanks Chris!
Great terrain. Great game. Thank you!
Thanks for the view Bryan!
Sound effects are a little loud compared to the narration but other than that, this was unique and good.
Hell yea brother! This is the kind of table we need more of!
Holy cow man.
Thanks for the view/comment!
Awesome, just awesome!
I've always viewed Spectre as a more solitaire style game, but seeing two people play like this, maybe I misjudged.
I'm also ecstatic to see people playing with minis that aren't painted to an ungodly high quality (please don't take that as a jab, it isn't meant to be) but rather painted by someone who wants to play, and know what each figure is loaded out as, and represents. It is doing wonders for my own shyness at my painting.
William thanks for the watch! There is no need for shyness in this hobby! Build, paint, create, play, share! Give Spectre a try if modern warfare is your thing. We usually play WW2 in 15mm but had a blast with something new.
Always remember, any paint on a figure is better than no paint at all. Try things out - you won't break your minis with a bad paint job. And at the end of the day, you can always soak in Totally Awesome and start again.
@Tontis as someone that plays warhammer I much prefer a new players completely painted army even if it looks bad up close to an army with 1 and a half well painted units!
Very unique BR, great work
Thanks a lot!
This is great! Please more spectre ops
Thanks for the view Scott. We had a fun time with these rules and will defiantly play more!
ship was wicked
Thanks! It was fun to build and play.
That ship is amazing.
That ship is epic!
Love the content. More Battlegroup please!
Thanks Filip! we are working on a BG project right now, stay tuned!
@@LongShotWargaming Which book or is that a secret :)?
Battlegroup KURSK!
Great job!
Thanks!
Oh wow!🙌🙌🙌👏👏
The ship is really awesome
Question, how easy would it be to adapt to rules to WW2 scenarios? I was a fan and player of a old computer game Commandos Behind the lines. Where you played a squad of British Commandos. Doing daring small unit raids on axis targets. Like taking out a communications tower in Norway. Or attacking a radar site to collect intelligence.
Thanks for the view Jonathan. These rules could be adapted very easily to that period. Really all that you would need to do is develop weapons data for second world war weapons. But other than that Spectre operations would be fantastic for the scenarios you're describing. There are alertness, detection and hidden troops rules. In fact you've got my mind racing on all the possibilities. I think a french resistance game involving sabotage would be awesome!
It you are looking at a French Resistance style game. Check out S.O.E., O.S.S. or Jedburghs. Any one of these agencies or projects would be great for a WW2 behind the lines operation. Jedburghs were allied personnel. Specially trained to work behind the lines in WW2. Each Jedburgh team was three people. A Demolition/Engineer, A Weapons expert ( who was familiar with both allied and axis Weapons), and a Communications expert. Then those three people would be cross trained in one other field. So even if the team lost one person. The team could still function. The Jedburgh teams were made to specifically to help resistance groups in occupied territory. Each member would be able to speak 3 languages. For example English, French, and German. For a team headed to France. Jedburgh teams worked in all theaters of WW2. With the exception of the island hopping campaign. Gen. Douglas MacArthur forbid the Jedburgh teams working in his area of operations. However Jedburgh teams did work in the China, India, Burma theater, and did work in British area of operations in the pacific.
I find it hard to believe an assault on an occupied hostile ship would be that simple
and yet the boys who train for it will absolutely make it look that easy.
Cool!
Thanks for the view William!
Pour one out for the Chief Engineer.
R.I.P.
Where did you get the metal lathe and drill press props please? Great video thanks
I ordered them from Shapeways.com
this would be awesome to replay xcom : terror from the deep's cruiseship mission
Did you make the ship just for the game or was it borrowed from something else?
Custom built just for gaming!
Do you have the plans for how you made the boat?
Unfortunately i didn't keep good record of the build process. But the hull was made of 1/2, and 3/4in MDF, and the superstructure is made of 1/4in MDF.
Seems like it wouldn't be much fun to be the terrorists
Admittedly it wasn't, we made the force attributes to far out of balance.
@@LongShotWargaming I suppose it goes that ways sometimes
