I was born in 1950. The Seekers came into my life when I was about 15 years old. They were my absolute favorites. I was extremely saddened when Judith left the group in about 1968. I was shocked and delighted when the group came back together years later and still very good. I was playing music by the Seekers the night Judith died. (actually I don't know if she died that night or the next day)
At 7:19 when the stunning beautiful Judith walks towards the camera and releases her incomparable voice I reckon at least half the men at home fell in love instantly. The other half couldn't see her because their wives would turn off the tv set.
Thank you for uploading the Seekers videos . I am born year 65 and I grew up with their music because of my elder brothers and sisters . I love the Seekers so much . Thank you 🙏❤️
Some renditions of songs the seekers have covered from other groups have been criticized by people who complain the style has been altered from the original. The point is that when you have a singer like Judith Durham you've got to adapt the rythm to her. Judith was capable of singing the entire scale at will and the unique power of her delivery dictated the rythm. These features ended up as a distinguishing part of the seekers's sound.
You're correct about Judith's voice. Also, in the sixties it was common for singers and groups to cover other's songs but put their own spin or twist on it. I had many discussions back then with friends about which version of a song was better.

She says she tried to look like the Queen. But I never saw the Queen look that good.
Incredible range Judith has. A rare gift from God.
