Dreamcatcher is the ultimate underdog story in Kpop. The Minx failure was SO hard on the members, they were really down and depressed, and had no idea if they even had a future in the industry. Then in 2020, they missed out on more wins for Scream and Boca, Handong got stuck in China for a whole year, members got the covid in 2021 and missed out on more wins.. and then in 2022 they started saying they weren’t expecting any wins at all, and then boom we got a full album with solos, A FIRST WIN where even Show Champion producers were crying when they finally won, a second win and then tours.. and then an industry award, AND THEN THEY ALL RE-SIGNED THEIR CONTRACTS and two more wins this year finally in front of a live audience. It’s like a movie with the seven best leading ladies 🥰
I saw Dreamcatcher live at the beginning of September. What you hear on Spotify and Apple Music is EXACTLY how they sound live. Their vocals are absolutely insane and the energy in the auditorium was electrifying. I am SO HAPPY they are still around cuz it was the best concert I’ve been to so far.
@@Shikiouji it was Toronto. I can’t even remember how many times we did the ending of Silent Night at the end of the concert. Was it the same in Montreal?
KARD and Dreamcatcher keep the music and uniqueness alive just by existing, seriously one of the most consistent and hardworking groups/idols. Wishing them ultimate success 🌊
sameee, KARD and Dreamcatcher are some of my favorite groups in the industry right now just for how unique they are. First time I came across Dreamcatcher I was hooked.
I have no doubt that Everglow's agency had a hand in getting the group's first win. Everglow is under Yuehua Entertainment, a very large wealthy Chinese media company that has business ties with several South Korean agencies including SM and Starship Entertainment. Yuehua spent a great deal of money developing and promoting the group including hiring well known Western songwriters to create songs for them. They wanted that win and they got it. The Show has since dropped the 'Expert' category and cleaned up their act. The sad thing about Everglow is that they have been so badly mismanaged by Yuehua that their initial promise has never been fulfilled. Dreamcatcher has gone on to become the inspiration for a number of 4th generation groups and many Kpop agencies use their songs for teaching and evaluating trainees.
Which is ironic given that Yuehua has now thrown Everglow under the bus in favour of their other artists. It really sucks for Everglow, they deserve so much better.
I don't hold Everglow/The members responsible tho. I love them. They deserved to win as well, it just sucks it was done in that way (allegedly) when their own talent could've given them that win eventually.
Not just that. There was probably a pissed off bitter old man, with huge power in the industry, who didn't like that he lost JiU from his claws and was even sued. That was the prevailing theory of the Deja Vu and Odd Eye era. At least now, the Show made up for their past misconduct, twice. Oh yeah, there was also a big scandal with Odd Eye voting in 2020.😮
Many new Dreamcatcher fans never knew how tough it was for them before, how hard these girls fought, and why their story is such an inspiring one. The stairecase idols we see in Reason, rose slowly, year after year, facing heartache after heartache. But they prevailed. Dreamcatcher now have millions of fans internationally. They also achieved being the 7 best sold KPop girl group in 2022, right there with the best. That's why their first ever win was a trully amazing one, and they were supported by many fandoms, just to achieve this. ❤
Gotta say, this is one of the best edited kpop "documentary" type video I've seen. The way their story is told here is captivating and the edits and one liners are all perfectly timed. My favorite was "Dreamcatcher had basically sailed off the island before the volcano erupted" followed by the scene from Game of Thrones. I will say, I do feel some of the way the narrator described situations/things seems a bit exaggerated for the sake of story-telling and there were some inaccuracies like Gfriend actually debuted about 7 months before Minx's "Love Shake" comeback and it was Gfriend's "Me Gustas Tu" that was released around the same time as "Love Shake" but at this time, Gfriend was also a little known group so their comeback didn't really alter Minx's results. But those bits didn't really change or affect DreamCatcher's timeline in the long run. Anyways, overall this was a great video and it does tell DreamCatcher's story in a captivating way. Now on to MixNine, that was a trip of a survival show. It was like combining Girls Planet with Boy's Planet and had the winning group compete against each other for debut. There were many great performances and memorable moments. But I feel like YG himself and his trainers were unnecessarily mean and rude to the trainees (yes this could just be evil edits where they only put in the negative comments). It just was a harder survival show to watch compared to The Unit, which was another survival show that aired at the same time that consisted of both male and Female trainees and idols. Anyways, it sucked that the winning group ended up being canceled because all the hard work and sleepless nights the trainees put in resulted in basically nothing. It wasn't a bad show by no means so if you're interest in checking it out, please do because a lot of currently active idols did appear on it (various members of Ateez, Loona, ONF, A.C.E, Treasure, etc). Ok I'm done with my long winded comment lol.
A few days ago, during the promotion of their new comeback OOTD, Dreamcatcher cruised through the 1M album sales milestone and are now at #16 of the Most Successful K-Pop GGs of All Time. Right behind Mamamoo, and ahead of legends GFriend, Kara and WJSN!!! And right after four wins, including two on The Show. These girls are really unkillable. And I disagree with some people, including InSomnia President Sera Ryu. This was never about "success" or fame that they shouldn't have touched. It was all about giving your best, working till you drop, fighting against all odds (and creepy old geezers). It was about Justice and being loved by the whole World, instead of simply the K-Music market. Go show them girls! Again shout out to Mera. I wish we would get a Part 2 of this, with more current info, showing us the whole amazing story of the Little Girl Group That Could and Did.
First time seeing you react to Gfriend lmao. Dreamcatcher and Gfriend have some of the coolest growth stories in the industry and I've always considered their concepts kinda like two sides of the same coin but I've never thought about how Gfriend's immediate (kind of out of nowhere) success was probably a big reason for DC's concept change. I love both groups so much ugh.
I wish I knew Dreamcatcher years ago. Especially because my birthday would have been epic on 2017 Yes, that means I was born on January 13.... and in 2017, I was 10 years old 😅
Having a company that never gave up on them and believe in their amazing talent❤️❤️🥹 even going to the point of changing the name to Dreamcatcher Company, this is a family 😍😍
Sebastine! I hope you have a playlist where you compile all your reactions about things (commentary?) like this (excluding Rotten Mango/Stephanie Soo!)...your reactions and the videos are educational but it's hard to search for them in your channel as a RUclips viewer😅

This video got me into dreamcatcher and mera makes some of the best videos I highly recommend her analysis of bts’s On and about dreamcatchers music videos
Preferring to do horribly over being in the middle is a hard pill to swallow for a couple of reasons. First of all, it means that, while talented enough among regular people to be in that given field, within that field - they're just average. It's like getting a bit of hope that you could really to make it, only to be told 'almost, but not quite.' Which leads into reason two; it's easier to accept defeat for some people if they come in the bottom tier. It's like how some people say 'I would rather be last than be second.' The idea comes from hating that you were so close, but, AGAIN, fell just short of enough. It's hard to love something and be good enough to impress so many people, but not enough to make something of it.
Yeah but its easy to say that as someone on the outside. As a member of the group, at least being middling you have a chance to stay together. Tanking makes a more interesting story but the group will likely disband. And we're talking about ppl's dreams, and jobs here. Middling is bad for memoriability, but tanking if def worse.
I love watching people reaction to this Mera video, but "Show win stolen" segment is wrong though. Fandom miscalculated SNS score because of not knowing tracking period (Saturday to Saturday, not Monday to Monday), so actual judges score was over 0, like 300-400. Not a lot, so we can split hairs there, but math made sense. I'm just super happy we have 4 wins now
DC the only one K-Pop GG that I used to listen because they're different, put some Japanese rock element with their music but now mostly their music slowly change to similar with others group.
Sadly , i have to agee with this one.. they have become softer and softer by days.. It,s not like the new song was bad. Its just ... soft.!! Maison forward just not dc .. Missed that old genuine dc sound .. 🤞
