WOW he sounds just like his music video, That is amazing that he really sounds like that and it's not all technical alterations like all these other singers use to make themselfs sound better. He actually Sings GREAT
It was about 4-5 years ago I first heard this song. Then I didn't have a good taste in music. And now I love this one. I finally grew up to the song. :)
I have to say, I've heard this song many times on the album, however live and in simple acoustic guitar form, I much prefer it this way. As well, to hear Matt's voice in this video makes me truly love this song. Bravo.
is it just me or does he palm mute for the down strokes and release for the up strokes or would the muted down stroke have anything to do with that tape?
The tape is to keep the acoustic pickup from feeding back. It's the same idea as those rubber cap things you usually see over the sound hole on unplugged sets. Acoustics have a bad habit of screaming uncontrollably if you don't cover that hahaha
Step 1: Go to Google. Step 2: Type "Matt Costa Mr. Pitiful" Step 3: Choose from the hundreds of websites that have the tab. Step 4: Read. Step 5: Play.
No, the tape isn't holding the pick-up in. It also probably isn't a dampener to reduce feedback like radioheadinside suggested. You can clearly see a raised rim around the tape, which means there's a dampener in the sound hole already. I'm pretty sure Matt Costa uses the tape to get that muted...'small' sound - like a 000 or parlor guitar. Kinda slappy... hard to describe... very 'Matt Costa' sound.
no no, its a feedback buster, when you play in front of an amp or in close proximity to one, the electronics/mic on a guitar will pick up the noise coming from the amp or PA system and the sound quality will suck big time, as for the tape itself, I imagine it is just holding the feedback buster in place for w/e reason
i ditched work to see him. totaly worth it
Matt Costa is the BEST.
i think he'll never come to italy..here nobody knows him :(

Since it's an unplugged rig the tape is to silence the guitar
when is this from?

@giggs102 If you're trying to make a cover of it, make it your own! You shouldn't try to do it exactly how it is on the record, make something new!
awsome song
