You can easily tell this is another Jimmy Jam/Terry Lewis masterpiece. Human League knew their work very much so they had said they wouldve been fools if they had turnt down this song. It payed off hitting No. 1 in 1986.
Yeah which explains why it sounds very similar to N.E.'s Can You Stand The Rain
@@tj5579 Jam and Lewis created an identity no one can emulate. From the first few bars you could tell its them. Their infectious synthesizer/keyboards and drum kit sounds had won them numerous grammy awards starting out with Janet Jackson's Control album and had a huge hit for for Boyz II Men's 'On Bended Knee'
Yeah the sound from this song is all over Janet Jackson's Control album. Especially the click sounds in the background of the drum machine patterns.
They recycled this beat on various songs they did with other artist….. and got PAID… BRILLIANT
Hey Asia! Y'all do know that there is a great group out there that goes by the name Asia, don't you?
This was a mega-hit forThe Human League in 1986! My favorite song by them!❤️❤️
Yep... Worldwide! This absolutely defines the mid 80's sound. That warm fullness of sound... like taking a warm bath.
It instantly feels like "home" to me. Man, i love 86 so bloody much. It will always be my 80's "magic year"
❤
Me, too.
Asia: “I’m like, I wish people in this world would understand that. I make mistakes. I’m only human.”
BJ: I’m only human. I make mistakes. Can I be forgiven ?
Asia: … Nope.
🤣🤣🤣
Women...
Haha that was funny they are cool
Lol
Bj don’t mess with Asia you’re a very lucky guy!❤😊
Their album Dare..huge hit 1980
What a fantastic pop track. Human League were amazing ❤️
This was the first concert I ever went to in Milwaukee in February of 1987.
This is my favorite song by the Human League.
Philip Oakey's singing voice is so 1980s British New Wave.
I was a metal head, hair band fan in the 80's but I ALWAYS loved this song, and I liked HUMAN LEAGUE
This song is sooooo the 80's! We loved this decade!
This is a wicked song. Apt. Its also “hey you cant judge me for doing the same thing while we were apart.” Back together, leave it in the past.
Jimmy Jam/Terry Lewis-produced - as u know (2 hip hop legends). This group never lip synchs. Raw vocals w zero trick up or aids. Iconic pop song.
Another Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis production from the Fall of '86.♥️♥️♥️
*_Asia and BJ_* did not noticed that after Joanne makes her spoken-word cheating confession to Philip, you can distinctly hear Joanne's voice singing with Philip during the chorus, before that you only heared Philip's voice during the chorus.
Great pick Guys.
A real song, beautiful music.
Man, I feel so old! I'm 50. I do remember quite well how popular this song was when I was a teenager.
If two persons can say they never heard this jam, then it must have been a very long time ago.
Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, the original producers who were the inspiration for Babyface and L.A. Reid.
Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis's Foundational Sound for ALOT OF HITS. ALEXANDER O'NEAL, NEW EDITION, JANET JACKSON AND ETC...
Produced by Terry Lewis and, Jimmy Jam of Morris Day And, The Time.........
The is a really piece of Art
I speak Spanish English is not my language
But I listening the song I remember my ex Girl friend I want to cry 😢
Hi From Costa Rica
That Yorkshire accent when the girl speaks gets me every time.
Another masterpiece from Flytetime, Jam and Lewis knocked it outta the park with this one. Their music and lyricism is recognizable from the bat. Y'all should react to a remake of one of their songs done by Robert Palmer, I Didn't Mean to Turn You One. That is a jam.
Great group, try- fascination, mirror man, love action..
I'm only human. I am just a Man!
That is the lyric!
Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis at their finest. Thanks for the share!!!
One of my favourite songs ever. Phil’s voice kills me and the Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis production is beautiful
The true sound of 80's Britain along with the likes of ABC, Level 42 etc.
I got to say ur intro song is fabulous. So smooth and delicious sounding. Don't know who's singing but great voices.
Sounds crazy but if you love this you’re gonna love Alexander O’Neill’s hits too. But he brings tons of Soul to all his massive hits. Thanks Peter from 80s UK. Keep up the fantastic work guys… you still gotta do Terence Trent D’Arby Wishing Well orig video -- the guy has class :-)
hell yes! bad ass!
The whole review was made when Asia looked to the right at the 2:20 mark. That's what a relationship is about right there. The profundity. This is why.....God made man and woman.
One of the most beautiful ,charming ,lovely songs about . . . Infidelity ~ Disloyalty ever dropped , Human Indeed !
🔥🔥 BJ wasn't ready 😆😆
Great reaction guys. One of my favorite songs.
This song takes me back, takes me back. Late 80's gold.
Beautiful song
When ever you get a chance, try checking out Mint Condition "Send me swingin ".
Asia with the quick, "No.". LOL!
At 4:50 I was half expecting to hear
Him: You're human too? Wtf does that mean? ...naw, wait a minute, what are you smiling for? I'm serious t, TURN THE DAMN MUSIC OFF
YOoo...what does that mean?
Her: Smiles
Him: You playin with me? Yo you smilin and I'm serious right now, I ain't playin, wtf does that mean?"
Her: I'm human too
Him: Yooooo don't play with me.
This song is awesome 👌
How come the lives from this past weekend are not available?
New wave music great
We were on a break!
Ok if you liked this then listen to The Finest or Weekend Girl by the S.O.S Band
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣you had Asia shook for a moment right there!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Love you guys Reactions very good and entertaining
Another Jam & Lewis masterpiece.
Love this reaction, 😀 you guys are cool 😎
the human league/fascination
You two are so damn cute.
College Freshman back in the day.
In this song, a guy is coming clean after cheating on his girl, telling her he only did it to fill the empty void inside him while they were apart. He comforts her, assuring her, "No one else could ever take your place." His excuse is a lame one, but it's all he's got: "I'm only human
Later in the song, we hear from the woman, who reveals that she also cheated on him while they were away. She's human too
Terry Lewis came up with the concept by thinking about how cheating men tend to either get caught or spill their guts, while women who cheat are better at hiding their secrets.
Always like the song, because it reminded me of the SOS Band, makes sense now that you mention Terry Lewis.
Women always did just as much as men, most were never innocent, the cheating scale with genders are equal. Honestly, he probably saw some body else, after she left. Women still try and consider that cheating because of them being so insecure. But yet women cheat while married.
This song went #1 on the pop chart & #3 on the R&B/Hip Hop Singles chart. Everyone was loving that song in 1986. Black, White, Latino, Asian..rich,poor, the suburbs, the hood..etc. That song was a BOP everywhere
Great replies to this reaction.
Number one on Billboard's Dance Club/Play chart too!
this song was a huge night club hit, sounds incredible with a great sound system
Slow dance favourite.
This was produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis ( Janet Jackson's producers), as was the album it comes from.
LOL one of the best lines in song history "... while we were apart, I was human too" BANG! 🤣😂🤔😭
This came out the year I graduated H.S., 1986. My favorite song of theirs was the hit, "Don't You Want Me," from 1981. If you ever check it out, definitely go with the video if possible. It's like a movie within a movie. Both songs were #1 chart toppers.
I love that one too! One of my favourite 80’s songs! I saw them sing it live in 2013 in South Africa! 🔥
Asia & BJ, you''ll love their "Keep Feeling Fascination" and "Mirror Man" !!!
Second fascination. Total 80s bop
My two favorite Human League songs. So good!! ❤️
To THIS day - STILL one of my favorite songs.
Mine too ❤
Best song The Human League ever made.
Definitely!
Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis had the sound..this song sounds like the SOS Band. They went on the work with Janet Jackson.
Great 80's song and one of the greatest drum-beats of all time 🥁
You guys should check out Cherelle’s “Saturday Love,” another Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis masterpiece. The album version is much better than the single.
i have the album!
Its a good'un
@@willfromyadkinville me too!
Greetings from The City of Sheffield in the UK, hometown of the Human League ❤ we love the Human league
We're only human. We all make mistakes, even in relationships. Check out some of their other songs: "Keep Feeling Fascination" "Don't You Want Me" "The Lebanon" "Mirror Man" "Together In Electric Dreams" "Love Action (I Believe In Love)" "The Sound Of The Crowd" "Tell Me When" "Heart Like A Wheel" "The Things That Dreams Are Made Of"
"Electric Dreams" is one of those 80's AI movies everyone seems to have forgotten, but there was some amazing music in it. I do enjoy listening to "Together in Electric Dreams" at the finale, never realized The Human League sang it.
The Lebanon ❤
They don't say anything about also being made of spirit...which is why they are able to rationalize adultery I guess. Sad.
If you are close to God you don't NEED to cheat on your partner.
Check out Ashford & Simpson video called ( Solid )
All I can say, "I love you guys!" You know what I`m saying? We human, Right? ALL is forgiven, AMEN
This great song was a mammoth hit and received tons of radio air play during my early HS years. What memories.
Y’all gotta hear another mega hit of theirs called “Don’t you want me.” 🙂💖💙✨
It would be awesome if someone did a double reaction to this and "a little time" by the Beautiful South .
Same topic different take lol
Human League had some amazing hits but this one was always my favorite. I'm glad you guys reacted to this 🙂
Another great song from The HUman League. One of my favourites by them is Mirror Man, which has been described as Electronic Northern Soul. (Men Of North Country did a "real" Northern Soul version of i). And, to see the amazing Phil Oakey haircut , see studio versions of Love Action, and Open Your Heart.
The 80’s were absolutely phenomenal in every possible way!
Yes the 80s and 90s to me had the best music, TV shows and movies ...just my opinion
Human League from my home city Sheffield England 🇬🇧
Probably best that you guys went with the audio and lyrics on this one.
That way you can just groove to it.
I remember watching this video when it was featured on Beavis and Butthead, and when the girl sings 🎵 “I am Just A Man.” 🎵
Beavis was like AHHHHH She’s a man! Lol fun times.
Can’t go wrong with Jam & Lewis
I love this song so much that I have a little cover I did of it on my channel. 😊
Nas and PM Dawn sampled this . Anyways. . I love you Asia and BJ, and your channel . Also, like the way you break the songs down, with honest vibes and real humour .
This song is a prime example(and there are so many) of why I loved music of the 80s.
When I first heard this song. I was like, wow he’s asking her for forgiveness for his mistakes? Then when the female vocalist comes in with her talking part, it’s like she slaps him in his face? Yep I’m human too! lol 🤭😂
FASCINATION is another great big hit song of theirs
I saw The Human League headlining a big music festival in Scotland last week, they played this song. It still sounds great!
Saw them back in ‘95 in Edinburgh, great gig.
In The Heat Of Heat By Patti Austin Another Masterpeice Produced By Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis 🔥🔥🔥
Same town as def leppard Sheffield England
They used to live next to my great aunts.
Phil and Joanne?
Sheffield, England
I don’t know if you can hear it in the sound, but Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis produced this song for them who usually worked with acts like Janet Jackson, New Edition, etc
Love this song! And Asia you are gorgeous!
Love where BJ raise his hand and Asia looks over at him with a huge smile lol & Asias whole change in demeanor soon as she hear "Team BJ" like "Uh uh now here you go"😑 BJ-"Can we be forgiven"🥺 Asia-"NO"⚰️
BJ👉😴🛋️🤣
AHEM!!!! I wonder who requested this one?🤔 *stands with chest out* 😎😁 love where he drags the "Huuuuu-maaaan" part very mellow tune..love the reaction yall
I am a total Metal head, but this is one of the best songs to come out of the 80’s . Great choice. You guys are just killing on the old stuff. 👍🏼🤘🏼
I'm R&B....but the 80s made songs that brought everybody together with the consistent blending of Metal/Pop/Soul.
Asia is right. The music arrangement, the melody and harmonies, percussion and rythm are giving you automatically an 80s vibe. What a wonderful song and the singer has a great voice.
human league/mirror man
The human league is such a unique group. Their songs all sound so different from each other. Always one of my favs from the 80's
My favourite thing about this track (and the "Crash" album) is the artistic collision of the super-smooth Minneapolis Jam & Lewis songwriting & production sound, versus the born-in-Sheffield super-Englishness of The Human League... funnily enough, another Sheffield band who had big success in the early 80s, ABC, also brought out a very American-sounding album around the same time, the very underrated "How To Be A Zillionaire"...
A Weekly Top 40 Number One Hit From 1986!
The human League were great.
I'm a metalhead. That said...this is a "guilty pleasure" band for me. "FASCINATION" is my favorite.
A song of foregiveness.
We are “Human”
They still perform today, albeit in their 60’s.
This needs to be released...my God it's still amazing!!!!❤
Wondering if you have done Spandau Ballet. True... 🔥Like this!!!
When electro-pop became soul aided by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis 🥰 If you like this style, check out Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814, especially the second part and you will recognize the musical style.
Back when jam n Lewis was running shyt, back when they was producing Janet Jackson, the time and so forth. CLASSIC
Yes this is 80s all day. Another great song, my fav, is Don't You Want Me.
