I love that they approached this not as a linear power scale. Yes, Eddie is overall equal to a Beyonder, but that includes all his actions across all his timelines. While he is certainly one of the heavy hitters in his own right, he doesn't have the instant energy output as a Beyonder does. He still is a reality manipulator on a potentially multiversal scale. But that isn't something he does in one clean motion, implementing the change instantly. Instead, he nudges reality into place over eons, one minor action at a time. Peter is a cuckold. Marvel has no idea what to do with that character. When miles and Eddie gets more character development than Peter does, that gotta say something.
I think the pathways changing may also be brought in case if Eddie loses this power due to another writer or regains it, plus multiverse, but yeah seems like a smart way to really make him the King in Black
Man I really strongly disliked the original knull and symbiote storyline from Donny Cates, but I feel like Al Ewing has taken it and turned it into something else and I'm really enjoying it. I do miss venom just being a Spiderman villain tho but maybe that's just me being nostalgic.
I really hate how they're power scaling Symbiotes these days. Symbiotes should be purely physical, material based, not accounting for cosmic energy or godlike beings.
So this revelation that Eddie can keep coming back from the dead because he is a King In Black would mean that Knull is out there, somewhere, alive.....right?
No because the comic said Knull's time was linear because he rejected his responsibility, and so he become a foot path for the eventuality(Eddie), so basically only Eddie is the true King in black, because he is both Eddie the person, the idea(of all timelines being destined) he is and has always been the king in black but only takes different forms, and the omega, eventuality
Finally they made my favorite marvel character one of the most powerful beings in the multiverse. Although it's a little bit mind-blowing that Spider-Man could have became the King in Black as well. And the true history of Knull is also shocking, and not something I was going to expect.
I like this idea of continuing on from King in Black and making Knull more meaningful, but at the same time. I kinda want Knull to just be the tyrant and nothing else.
I think it would've been better if the offer to truly fill the role of the King in Black was offered to him prior to his initial defeat, by whoever the previous king was, but he just said "nah" and used his power to try and reclaim the nothingness he came from by fighting the Celestials instead.

@@universehopper8032 Manhattan had a romantic relationship with Laurie Jupiter, who was 20 years younger than him. Besides, Laurie was only 16-years old when they started dating. You know what , Daredevil with a symbiote would be an amazing story. The symbiote could temporarily give daredevil a form of sight just like how it gave flash thompson legs making for a great story.
One thing I love that ties all this together is that it makes perfect sense for Knull (and all the other Onyx Kings) to be the opposite of the Beyonders; if they’re “from beyond” then the only real opposite to them would be to be “from before”; which Knull predates the current universe so 🤷♂️ With that said; how/when exactly did Eddie become the first “Eventuality”? Maybe it’s explained in the comic but that seems to be left out how he actually came to be and like, what exactly came before him? The Eventuality is the supervisor of all the Onyx Kings, so what was supervising before? And if nothing was; how and why is Eddie so “special” to become more powerful than any other King in Black? (That we know of)
I think this is a proper bootstrap paradox - a temporal loop that has no beginning or end, because the end is the beginning. The Eventuality who is supervising Eddie Brock and ensuring that he becomes the Eventuality is not a previous version of Eddie Brock at the end of a previous version of the timeline, but the future version of Eddie Brock at the end of this timeline. The Eventuality does not cause the origin of the next version of himself, but the current version of himself, which is the only version of himself. If you really want a "before," then I guess you could assume that the Celestials are the ones who set the whole thing up, since they were the ones trying to recruit Knull to be King in Black. It has been revealed in other comics that the Celestials created the Beyonders and their Engine (or that they created The Lost One, whose powers were stolen by the Beyonders and who may have been the original Ivory King in the same way that Knull was the original King in Black), so it's reasonable to assume that they created the other Engine as well.
It had been awhile since I last saw a Rob vid. This video had excellent pacing, great energy from Rob, excellent length, and covered the most interesting points of this comic and the future. Best video in awhile.

my man has been getting the storyline treatment he deserves for two consecutive runs and it's the main reason I've gotten back into reading comics over the last couple of years
This was unbelievable and almost gave me a migraine trying to understand it all....sum characters are just always full of surprises and Eddie Brock is one of them and I have the whole set of lethal protector and it's a great read.
Nope, nope, it was _meant to be_ Wade Wilson. A mind SO broken that it could see every path and every wall (including the 4th one). But the symbiote rejected _him,_ then Parker rejected _it,_ and _then_ Eddie got stuck with it. _That's_ the canon in my head now.
Your enthusiasm is so dope, it makes me want to read any comic I can get my hands on. A company should hire you to recruit. "Man, let me tell you, the benefits are AMAAAAAAAAAAAAZING! The break room is NUTS!! You gotta see it man!" 😂
this along with a lot of other stuff we've seen on peter is really painting a picture of "this man was destined by fate for existential importance but life happened and he managed to just barely dodge all of that to live a normal life"
I'm so fucking hyped by the fact that spider-man was "born for this role" and now I very much want to see the universe where he became the king in black.
If I wanted to purchase every issue in marvel comics that led up to this directly I wonder what issues I would have to get. Because if I could, I definitely would.
So if The King in Black is the diametric opposition of The Beyonders, then does the origin of the Enigma Force/Captain Universe stem from The Beyonders? Because when Venom became Captain Universe and killed Knull, it was said that the symbiotes were the direct opposite to the Enigma Force/Captain Universe. 😮
Venomverse is one of the best things going on right now Eddie Brock has ascended from human to god he beginning to understand his mistake And try to fix it Eddie has accepted his fate as the Eventuality what made meridius not accepted it Between carnage powering up. Eddie Brock the king in black and meridius we got a battle That can wipe out the marvel universe.
If I'm not mistaken i believe you are slightly off on a few points. The hand reveals the king in blacks job is to monitor and regulate the multiverse, not just a single universe. And secondly when the celestials found knull they forced him to be the king in black, he didn't choose to be it. knull being a god of nothing of course would not want the job of making sure something exists. It would be a grand insult to knull's very being lol.
This story borrows VERY heavily from philosophical concepts found in Jewish Kabbalah. Marvel has always had these influences, but it's great to see them tapping back into their roots, especially for Cosmic Entities.
Eddie is now the Ink on the page. Where as the Beyonder is the White space, the page itself. Together they are the comic book.

What issue is this?
I've been waiting for you to cover this!! I love what they're doing with the symbiote lore.
Man I really strongly disliked the original knull and symbiote storyline from Donny Cates, but I feel like Al Ewing has taken it and turned it into something else and I'm really enjoying it.
I do miss venom just being a Spiderman villain tho but maybe that's just me being nostalgic.
wats the damn issue
[insert character] is about to become one of the strongest beings in existence.
So it’s a Tuesday
Welcome back, Comics Explained! It's good to hear that you are well!
I really hate how they're power scaling Symbiotes these days. Symbiotes should be purely physical, material based, not accounting for cosmic energy or godlike beings.
Bruh scaling king in black to beyonder levels is bullsh!t
@@nobodyknowsforsure so u know onyx kings aren’t symbiotes. then what’s the comment for
For me Knull will always be the best King in Black
Right it's like why they do him like that?
Don't worry. Eventually they'll bring him back and Eddie will return to the status quo. Let's just enjoy the ride while it lasts.
I concur🤝🏾
Eddy all day
Bra literally just became king in black 😂 stop dick riding
This is why I love marvel so much. Their writing is impeccable.
You explained this so much more accurately than others I’ve seen!
Seems like Marvels getting tired of people saying DCs hierarchy is above Marvels, so now they're expanding on it like with defenders beyond
Being > Being > Being > Being > then gets BEAT by less powerful character BAWWAAAWAHHHAAAHAHAHAH!!!!
@joneshugh true, the actual nature of comics
@@yoyomayne It's gotten worse w/the new writers since '00's though
This revelation was major character depth to the king in black and the beyonders. And character growth to knull and the celestials.
Cosmic Eddy: "Damn, I though that becoming a God would be the coolest thing ever. How miserable it turned out to be..."
Dr. Manhattan: "Trust me. It could be far worse. At least you still have emotions..."
Cosmic Eddy: "...And didn't sleep with a girl who could be my daughter" 😉
Dr. Manhattan: "HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO SAY THE CONCEPT OF TIME IS MEANINGLESS TO ME?!" 🤬
What's with the daughter thing??! Mind explaining?
@@universehopper8032
Manhattan had a romantic relationship with Laurie Jupiter, who was 20 years younger than him. Besides, Laurie was only 16-years old when they started dating. The expression "who could be your daughter" is a colloquial way of criticizing the fact that your girlfriend is much younger than you
@@TetsuShima ah, I thought you meant Eddie Brock did that.
She is basically Animal Man× swamp Thing
Its okayyyy Dr M... No judgement here bwaahaaha
You know what , Daredevil with a symbiote would be an amazing story. The symbiote could temporarily give daredevil a form of sight just like how it gave flash thompson legs making for a great story.
Welcome back Rob!!! Everyone needs a break every now and then. And if anyone deserved one it was you.
wow what a breakdown so impressed. I love how you brought some historical context to all of this. Really appreciate your work.
I hope Eddie has a nice conversation with Peter Parker about all this.
One thing I love that ties all this together is that it makes perfect sense for Knull (and all the other Onyx Kings) to be the opposite of the Beyonders; if they’re “from beyond” then the only real opposite to them would be to be “from before”; which Knull predates the current universe so 🤷♂️
With that said; how/when exactly did Eddie become the first “Eventuality”?
AMAZING! Thank you for bringing us this story Rob.
I am always here for Eddie Brock Venom content. Plus I am also here for Knull and Symbiote content too.
It had been awhile since I last saw a Rob vid. This video had excellent pacing, great energy from Rob, excellent length, and covered the most interesting points of this comic and the future. Best video in awhile.
Rob’s excitement is everything I needed today.
I really really wish Marvel Unlimited would hurry up with these releases. I can't wait to get my hands on this to read for myself. This run of Venom is becoming one of my all time favorites.
whats the name of the comic?
@@zarfact this is the newest and current run of the Venom series. Believe it started 2021.
It is insane how OP they're making him.
You’re back!! I just got out of the hospital for my second child. I was so excited to binge watch all the new Comic Explained videos… but nothing lol
Marvel has been crushing it lately with Venom and Carnage. Such great storylines.
Top 20 most powerful DC characters hierarchy please.
Congrats on the kid bro
@@DonShotta24 thanks brother. Seven years between my two. I forgot how much sleep you lose lol
finally i’ve been waiting for u to cover this story
I believe this is building up to the Beyonder Wars that was mentioned in Old Man Star Lord.
We need him to write spiderman please.. get our boy back on his feet cause right now it's a train wreck
Venom has had a great run the past few years.
If there's one thing Marvel's been getting right, it's Eddie Brock. Amazing character arc, even if there's been some retcons along the way.
Out of all the time travel stories in marvel this is one of the best ones
Love it, Venom & Hulk are the Beast Storys.😍😍😍😍😍😍
Can't what for more Hulk & Venom Storys.😍😍😍😍😍😍
This may very well be the absolutely more diverse complex and well written plot and story of ANYTHING I have EVER witnessed
Welcome back rob
Love the new editing style
Beautifully written
man writers were in their bag with this one. I just wish we could get an entire cinematic universe surrounding the symbiyotes like not even a big one like the avengers. Just three movies how Christopher Nolan did his Batman. It was it own universe
my man has been getting the storyline treatment he deserves for two consecutive runs and it's the main reason I've gotten back into reading comics over the last couple of years
This was unbelievable and almost gave me a migraine trying to understand it all....sum characters are just always full of surprises and Eddie Brock is one of them and I have the whole set of lethal protector and it's a great read.
You gotta see it man!" 😂
The hand is pretty symbolic too; it's called a Hand of Glory. Legends say that it can open any door
6:37 lol HE SOOO HAPPY
this along with a lot of other stuff we've seen on peter is really painting a picture of "this man was destined by fate for existential importance but life happened and he managed to just barely dodge all of that to live a normal life"
I'm so fucking hyped by the fact that spider-man was "born for this role" and now I very much want to see the universe where he became the king in black.
Eddie Brock is literally HIM. Himmy Neutron. Himothy💯
The goat is back!!!!
The Hand reminds me of Berserk
Guts bad memories😶🌫️
17:06 for more reference, go find and read Venom The End, the Meatgardener Venom storyline 👌🏿
Knull was a villain. No matter where he came from, he was still evil
Poor Eddie Brock, hopefully he won't become the next "Knull" in the next universe after the end of the main Marvel universe. Peter dodged a bullet.
If I wanted to purchase every issue in marvel comics that led up to this directly I wonder what issues I would have to get. Because if I could, I definitely would.
This is 🔥 🔥. Eddie Brock growth is ridiculous in marvel. Definitely a main character! Just as important as Peter Parker not famous but valuable.
This is so epic, just love the reveal !
Muuuuuurn, Onyx Kings vs Ivory Kings, dig the Onyx one 👌
So if The King in Black is the diametric opposition of The Beyonders, then does the origin of the Enigma Force/Captain Universe stem from The Beyonders? Because when Venom became Captain Universe and killed Knull, it was said that the symbiotes were the direct opposite to the Enigma Force/Captain Universe. 😮
The beyonders created an engine know as concordance engine that this engine use enigma force to maintain the universes within the multiverse
Dude now i want to see a peter parker king in black variant holy moly
and looking completely normal and boss
So brilliant to tie The beyonders and symbiotes as they both first appeared in the secret wars.
Omg.. now everybody rivals the Beyonders
Venomverse is one of the best things going on right now
Eddie Brock has ascended from human to god he beginning to understand his mistake
And try to fix it
Eddie has accepted his fate as the Eventuality what made meridius not accepted it
Between carnage powering up. Eddie Brock the king in black and meridius we got a battle
That can wipe out the marvel universe.
wow this needs to be a series of movies
Think venom stories have become my favorite in all comics
Every Comics Explained video:
"So what this DOESSSSS-"
*Obnoxious laughter*
"SO HERE'S THE THING-"
If I'm not mistaken i believe you are slightly off on a few points. The hand reveals the king in blacks job is to monitor and regulate the multiverse, not just a single universe. And secondly when the celestials found knull they forced him to be the king in black, he didn't choose to be it. knull being a god of nothing of course would not want the job of making sure something exists. It would be a grand insult to knull's very being lol.
already was the king in black. just didn’t want the rest of the job
Yooooooooooooooo! Rob this narration was dope brother. Thanks✌🏾
So…. what we’re leading to is a clash of cosmic propositions between Carnage and Venom…
I'm sure Al Ewing will fully specify where The King In Black fits in when he does his next Defenders series, too.
Everytime I watch a video about Eddie Brock I'm more and more amazed
This story borrows VERY heavily from philosophical concepts found in Jewish Kabbalah.
Marvel has always had these influences, but it's great to see them tapping back into their roots, especially for Cosmic Entities.
