I just found your channel and am LOVING it. I've lived in Taiwan for nearly 3 years on a smaller island and definitely agree that Taiwan has made me almost too comfortable and soft. Haha such a relatable video. Taiwan is amazing!
Sounds like a great place to retire. I have been to Taiwan twice for a short trip and yet I agree with what Jonathan said. I feel very comfortable and Taiwanese are extremely polite and helpful. Gave me the same impression with Japanese. I am learning Mandarin now just to be able to live in Taiwan one day.
Hello, I'am a filipino worker here in taiwan and work as a factory worker and i want you to teach us some factory worker mostly used words or phrases, it helps us a lot and since i do self study taiwan mandarin and practice pronounciation to my taiwanese friends.Thank You anyway🤗🤗🤗

Thank you💕 I love this listening practice! You both covered a lot of key points. Everything Jonathan said are things I guessed on my own even though I've never been to Taiwan 🇹🇼. He just confirmed my thoughts. Especially regarding the calm atmosphere, work, and safety. I'm glad he mentioned his female friends & their thoughts about going home alone & not being bothered. I would like to study, work, and live in Taiwan. So I'm really happy to hear the government is encouraging remote work. Hopefully their borders will open soon.
I've been living in Taiwan for a year and I can definitely attest to this! I almost forget that walking around alone in the dark back in America was unthinkable. Now I do it all the time! I agree with everything Jonathan said. It's almost too safe and convenient. It'll be realllly hard to move back.
❤ My new course just released! How to Master Spoken Chinese mandarin-with-miss-lin.teachable.com/p/conversationtrainingcourse If you often find yourself stuck in conversation and wish to speak Chinese naturally, I'd highly recommend you this course!
Miss Lin, you should upload more conversation videos with foreigner (not native) like this. I feel, as a beginner, i can follow the conversation better rather than native conversation.
Thank you for this - even though it is from years ago. I've floated the idea of visiting and maybe living/working there (especially if my work would be okay with this arrangement) especially when my friend tells me it is welcoming/inviting to foreigners who look into living there.
Hello! I've been following your channel for quite a some time now and I just came across this video and it was interesting and enlightening as always. I would love to see more videos about living and working in Taiwan. Because I'm about to return to Taiwan after a long time and I still can't grasp the idea of how is attitude of people there and stuffs. So i really hope you would do videos like these more in the future. Love you! 💙
I’m from Mainland China and my parents want me to go to the college in Taipei. I quite like the idea since I’m living in the US and I strongly miss the Han Chinese culture and specially the food haha 🤣🤣 But I’m also a little bit worry about how would I be treated since I’m from the mainland and you know, the political issues... I don’t really care about politics so I hope I can make a lot friends in Taiwan but I would like know more about what ppl in Taiwan think about us Mainlanders
as long as you don't really mention too much about politics, you should not worry. IF someone attacked you just for being a mainlander, that guy prob cares too much about politics and you can ignore him.
One question. I heard Jonathan mentioned that if you have a master's degree then you can work here. My son is a US citizen and is graduating next year. Does he need to get a master first to come work here in Taiwan?
I remember as a beginner and elementary and even low intermediate Chinese learner I was really interested in hearing how non natives were able to actually pronounce Chinese. Now as a solid intermediate I try to avoid listening to it too much. The only white dudes I listen to now are Lele Farley, Chris John Pasden, and sometimes people that come on Voices of America, this channel, Mandarin Corner. Not to say this content isn't absolutely amazing, which is usually is on this quality channel, just as a message to the proud learners that will continue to conversational and even fluent: "it's super motivating to hear people who actually did it and got there, but try not to spent too much time listening to people who are inevitably butchering the language despite their best efforts."
I agree. If you want to learn to speak Chinese with good pronunciation, you should listen to people speaking Chinese with good pronunciation. This guy is not one of them.
I kinda disagree that Taiwanese are good in lining up haha. Maybe in Taipei, but in smaller cities some could a bit disrespectful and pushing others although people have been queuing haha. Just speaking based on my experience here.
To be brutally honest, i didn't like listening to this. I think his pronunciation needs a lot of improvement, it might be the french accent, i don't know, first time i've heard a french person speaking chinese.

It’s better to listen more to native speakers, though. Or at least foreigners with native-like pronunciation. His pronunciation is not very good.
Thank you, Miss Lin! Great content as always :)

Mme Lin, votre français est formidable !
Merci c’est gentil! 💗

Taiwan is a rich and democratic country. Its people is sympathetic and hard working.

I lived in Beijing for 4 years and have many Taiwanese friends etc. I doubt anyone there will bother you especially if you don't care about politics
Very good
More learnings miss lin. Thank you

It has a better salary than Indonesia though, while cost of living in Jakarta (its capital city) is way too expensive.
thanks you, btw which video that recommended for new..can i say i want learn taiwan mandarin from the scratch..

My city
je savais pas que vous parliez francais
Over exaggerated
🤩 so handsome
