- I upgraded the stock bridge of my FGN LS10 with the Vintage ONE 50 Bridge by KMS (kissmystrings.de).
Bridge material "milled out of highly compressed, custom made zink alloy blanks". With Fat-Flat 50s Saddles (Brass, Nickel).
The guitar seems to have a little more "snap". A little more tele on steroids. This is what I was going for - I'm happy with the results.
("Amp": Fractal FM3 - 50w Plexi)
Cool
KMS better with more open mids and more high chime. Gotoh sounded good, but KMS gives wider tonal palette. In my ears.
I agree, the Gotoh doesn't sound bad at all. I like the added highs from the KMS, though I would tweak the low pass filter of the mic pre amp a little different if it wasn't for the comparison. The sound has been dialed in with the Gotoh bridge. The KMS works great in a live mix.
Unplugged the KMS sounds more open and resonant, did you get the zamac or brass version? Wich one do you prefer?
I think he got zamak (see info bar with zink alloy blank mention)
It's zamak. I was surprised about the big difference of the unplugged tones. After this little experiment I started to think about changing the bridges in my other guitars as well. I wouldn't say the Gotoh bridge sounds bad. So far the KMS works great and cuts a little better in a live environment. The guitar works much better with darker amps now. No regrets :)
+ the option to cut the saddle slots and tweak your string spacing is awesome. Didn't assume I would like that this much. Now string spacing is perfect - great for my slight OCD ;)
Thank God we don't play electric guitar unplugged
KMS=200€ / Gotoh=30€. I prefer the Gotoh.
I liked the kms sound unplugged better but the gotoh sounded better with gain.
