What do you mean? Season 7 brought Hank the greatest challenge yet, the final and ultimate distraction to pull him away from Karen. And Hank nailed it, after 7 seasons of struggling he got his shit together and was ready for her love... Greatest show in history!
This scene actually brought tears to my eyes. each season usually ends on a good note of happiness, minus season 3. But this just hit me where Hank goes up to the door and knocks waiting for his bird
As much as I don't like to admit it Faith wouldn't have been happy with Hank, as he is simply unable to love another woman than Karen. I think that's his biggest fault and mistake in the whole series - not being able to let go of somebody who he will NOT be happy with. As I started watching the series, I was all about seeing Hank and Karen finally together, but as the seasons went by, I was left out with the opposite impression. In my eyes, the seemingly obvious thing to do - blame Hank for not being able to keep the zip of his pants closed is wrong, as his love, Karen, couldn't make up her mind whether she wanted to be with him and proclaimed that they're not together throughout the entire series.
Exactly. They perfectly mirror each others emotional blindspots. Neither can commit because they would have to face their own fears of abandonment. That's what the show is about. That's why it's so heart wrenching. Because the love is there and all the amazing possibilities of a harmonious union are right there for the taking but neither can get over their fears. All of Hanks shenanigans and Karen's flings are just distractions. Karen might be worse because she engages and marries men while Hank let's women know he is damaged. It's what makes him so endearing. Either way what is the net result? Neither party really dives into their own inner struggle or takes responsibility for it. Karen runs from it. Hank is victimized by it. We all have faults and we all have shortcomings. But what a wonderful life is available to us if we could work them out.
He wasn't in it with his heart. I do love (in a heartbreaking way) how she pretends she could have gotten him to stay if she wanted to. Shows how much she wanted this to be real.

Lots of people arguing about when this show should have ended. And I get it, I absolutely do. But let's just appreciate how this show ended pretty much every season in a way that would have been satisfactory as a series ending - and a notch or two above the average series ending, too.
Once again despite all of Hanks flaws as a person the core of his essence shines brighter then most and once again the last scenes of the finale with the right songs just makes me a bigger fan of this show more then ever......
Question for all of you. There are -- as far as I know -- 2 scenes in Californication wich contains the same song. First there is the scene where Hank and Becca arrive at the wedding in S01E12, the second is when Hank drops Jacky off at the stripclub in S03E02, near the end of the episode. It is a hard rock/metal song with a killer solo. I can't find a single thing on Google about that song, so please, if anyone knows that song, please reply! TIA
2022 What hurts me about this episode is that I can relate to it, there's just someone in my past I can't seem to let go of, no matter how hard I try to have new beginnings, I just can't, I wanna be with her, now and forever... However the storyline should've ended with Hank and Faith being together, for she loves him for all he is, Karen yes loves him, but loves him for who he was and not who he is now. And somehow feel like Hank gets drawn to wrong doings when with Karen cause he tries hard to not be who Karen won't like and ends up just doing that...
Great video! And the perfect song to end this season. Can't wait to see what's going to happen. I will be there in January 2014, hope you guys too. It's only 9 Months, piece of cake...
Beth Hart does some great music. I liked her since she did LA Song years ago. I haven't watched the last two seasons of Californication, but this tune could go with nearly any episode of the series. My favorite episode ender is still, Dylan's If You See Her, Say Hello. This one's number two.
For Hank to go with Faith would have done her a disservice, because Hank had/has not let go of Karen in his heart. I don't know how he'll let go of Karen. Until he does, he couldn't truly be with another woman; even though Faith would probably eventually bring him happiness. If he had really loved Karen all of these years, he would have kept Mr Happy in his pants, no matter what, and PROVED to Karen she's always been his one true love. It takes a big man to give himself completely to one woman. All of this liberal BS about 'we're not together, so we don't have claim on each other' never really has/did work for Karen deep down. That's why she's always been so elusive to Hank.
U dun really get artists do u ? I dunno if u r one but speaking as one i would say dat my muse always comes from wat i could not get. Its like the night and day, they co-exist but they just can't stay together at the same time n datz wat makes it so beautiful. The pain, the misery, the heartache and the wait really does bring out the best in u. Everyday u wait for the sun to come up but imagine if it was there all da time, how wud u feel bout that then? we drive the people who love us away from us so dat we can love them even more n they live like immortals in every piece of art dat we ever make. Imagine living with dat for life,it is painful but we r who we r.
This is my rhythm.. I only think of you my love and you know what you mean to me. Will soar high and sail away around the worst storms.. we will endure it all and give in to eachother.. this song is us.. you and I..!!
Got myself a ritual for this show. Season 1-4, skip 5 and 7, watch season 6 and end it right before he gets off the bus. That's the ending. On the road with Faith and Atticus. I imagine it like Almost Famous, Hank Moody style.
Hank was stuck in his love for Karen. But she didnt really love hum...she loves the man he could be. Faith really loves him the way he is... I think that this épisode really ends the show! Season seven is irrelevant. I wont watch it!
+Jeam Meysmans The thing is that Hank probably understood that Faith was just a younger version of Karen. Watch season 7, it isn't the best, but it is quite decent. I think the best season is the one with Lou Ashby.
He would definitely have been a better fir for him. And as she even said she could love him. But the thing is that hanks real love would be Karen. Even though things might not work and stuff... She will still be the one he is in love with. Thats why he had that dream about her at the bar and woke up shouting Karen. I dont wont to argue with you in any way, this is just my opinion and i respect yours as well. Californication has become my favorite series ! Have a nice day !
The final episode of Californications season 6 is like the final episode of Scrubs season 8: a perfect ending for a briliant show which didn't need a continuation nor an explanation.
I agree with those who say that the series should have ended in Season 6. I LOVE Beth Hart and her music and the fact that they use her songs in Season 6 shows someone had real taste ….. besides the perfect ending song for the season, it implied that Hank would go back to Karen and remain in California …… The only value is that at the end of Season 7 is that they end the series by going back to New York.
@@Wanderingsoul263 That's the Core of it......Even though the faith/atticus situation appealed to my inner love of being Wild as Shit, I eventually sided with Season 7...... Maybe it was me being in my early 20s when the show began, but Hank Moody had a BIG part in my life. I was a lot like that character, minus the constant shacking up....I did okay, but even my heart couldn't deny all feeling for every girl I was with, whereas Hank was only stuck on Karen.
This scene really broke my heart, this is where Hank chose misery over real happiness when he walked out on Faith and went back to Karen. He hadn't yet come full circle at letting Karen go completely because he felt obligated to her. Hank only hurt himself by doing this because deep down he knew he and Karen just aren't meant to be. I think Karen always loves Hank in her own way, she loves him as someone who he could be. But Faith loves him for who he actually is. With good and bad. That's unconditional love. Karen likes Hank based on what day it is. If things don't go the way she wants, she dumps Hank. Karen was constantly messing with him, she was trying to change him. She never really understood where he came from. She always strung him along, treated him like garbage and blamed him for her own mistakes. She acted very childishly and became very petty whenever he was with another woman when they weren't together anymore. She excepted him to accept it when she was with someone else but when he was with someone, she lashed out. Karen is two-faced, insensitive, cruel and very selfish towards Hank and he deserves better than that. It felt like they were getting along a lot better when they weren't a couple but when they were, it was pure misery. Even Becca was against her parents being together, she always protested their relationship. Hank knew that he loves Faith more than he loves Karen. With Faith, he felt free and alive perhaps for the first time in his whole life. He actually felt real happiness. He just got freaked about his love for Faith, that's why he run away from her. From the moment he met her, he was instantly attracted to her but she didn't reciprocate. She was the only woman who was immune to his charms. It really bothered him that he had no effect on her. He knew that this time he's going to have to earn her affections. He played it cool with her while letting her know that he cares about her. He was being patient with her because he respected her and really cared about her. When she kissed him the first time, he was over the moon. Their first time on the airplane was the most intense and powerful experience for him because it was more than physical union, it was an emotional one.
As much as I understand Hank getting back with Karen, his baby mama and love. I still feel as though Faith were two peas in a pod, perfect matches. Maybe I am just seeing something that ain't there. Best show ever, and Hank Moody was the man.
It is funny how something can grab you in an emotional way that is just pretend. I loved this show. And of course they had to end it with this song that just emotionally ends me in a loving way that I have for my SO. I am lucky enough not to have to deal with the idiots of this show in real life, he is amazing.
I love Hank's love letter to Karen it is so beautiful but he mentions that he does not know how to be with her right now. He seems to never get it together and at the end of the last season they should have had him grow up and have gotten his life together with Karen and Becca.
Is there a way to get this song, but only the instrumentals? I dont like the voice, but really like the melody. If anyone knows any songs that has similar sound, then please post them here :)
Great end the knock on the door. Abandoning his happiness with faith to go back for Karen. Season 7 felt like an anti climax... found it more sitcom territory (compare season 7 with season 1🙂) But I still found it enjoyable with levon.. I think we need a revival and more seasons

That's why she's always been so elusive to Hank.
speaking some rare sense here on youtube i see bro.

thanks I guess. It's true, though. I've always thought this about Hank and Karen's dynamic.
jasonscorsese
I second that
Thats just series man, dont get so serious -.-
U dun really get artists do u ?
I honestly consider season 6 ending and season 7 one big fever dream Hank has while still on the tour bus
when the world forgets my name..
to my mind, this is the best song from this amazing show!
i love every people in this story, but! Charly is the BEST mother..cker )))))))
"In the end it's all about her
fking miss California had my best days there
summer 2017
Hank was stuck in his love for Karen. But she didnt really love hum...she loves the man he could be. Faith really loves him the way he is...
I think that this épisode really ends the show!
Season seven is irrelevant. I wont watch it!
+Jeam Meysmans The thing is that Hank probably understood that Faith was just a younger version of Karen. Watch season 7, it isn't the best, but it is quite decent. I think the best season is the one with Lou Ashby.
@@kennetheriksen8502 I loved that season. They were good together..
Don't, it's a waste of time
@@kennetheriksen8502 Seasons 1-4 were magic
@@StanleyStifler Hardly. It's far from perfect, but it's still decent TV, and the ending of the show was solid, if not the season that led up to it.
What a show...I will never forget Californication :) Can you guys recommend me any other similar tv series to watch? Fairwell Hank Moody
Nothing like it
+Constantinos Kyprianou Try Bojack Horseman, dark sense of humor, drama and great music.
+Constantinos Kyprianou
Nothing like it
I don't know if this one qualifies, but give Shameless a try
Nothing like it will ever be made again!!
My California...
He should have stayed with Faith
no) he need to stay with heather graham)))))
The "Karen drama" was literally the entire point of the show
He didn't love faith. Hank truly loved karen.
Now that's a Honest opinion shared by me!!
As much as I understand Hank getting back with Karen, his baby mama and love. I still feel as though Faith were two peas in a pod, perfect matches. Maybe I am just seeing something that ain't there. Best show ever, and Hank Moody was the man.
This was one of the deepest scenes in the whole series. Could have ended with this.
if californication has given me anything, it's a fucking great taste in music.
They ended every season with a wrap up just Incase they never was picked up.
This had it all.
Hey thanks for your reply! unfortunately I didn't found the song. Too bad, but thanks anyway!
Please can someone from america tell me whats the obsession every musician has with california? honest question
Please does anyone recognize the song aticus is playin on guitar in the bus as hank is chatting with lew in the bar.
The Flame Still Burns
What the motocycle appears on the final scene? (s6e12 Californication)
I Love both of them! I hate goodbye's :/
Well done!
Is there a way to get this song, but only the instrumentals? I dont like the voice, but really like the melody. If anyone knows any songs that has similar sound, then please post them here :)
Great end the knock on the door. Abandoning his happiness with faith to go back for Karen. Season 7 felt like an anti climax... found it more sitcom territory (compare season 7 with season 1🙂)
But I still found it enjoyable with levon.. I think we need a revival and more seasons
I like this song but I love the count of monte cristo. Well done, Mr. Dantes.
