    I'm the same way in my trailer. A couple of 'homes' for some items and A LOT of places for miscellaneous. You can't have homes for everything, so I've given up. It's all miscellaneous. lol

      Nice Video clip! Sorry for the intrusion, I am interested in your opinion. Have you heard the talk about - Rozardner Successful Handyman Reality (just google it)? It is an awesome one off product for how to start a handyman business minus the hard work. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my BF at very last got amazing success with it.

    I like this tool trailer idea. As a one man handyman who works out of a Ford ranger I plan on building a tool trailer camper out of a 5x8 enclosed.

    I believe I may have that same Makita table saw. I've had mine going on 30 years and its a real work-horse. The best part is that it's very light - under 40 lbs while everything today is 50+. Great for setup and takedown at a job.

    Putting as much as you have, it's hard to make it look organized, You have done well. I agree with the height as well. It would be nice to have a place to work with a vice or mount a mitre saw. Or a place to stand when it starts to rain. Nice job. Your trailer shows that you work for a living.

    I also have a 5x8. What are some of the dimensions you used? I.e. the depth of the drawers, depth of the bench/saw horse garage? I’d love to build mine out to be more functional.

    • @handymanjourney
      @handymanjourney  Год назад

      I think the drawers were 18" deep, I can't recall and then everything else was built to fit so we just measured our saw horses and built a cubby for them!

    Hey Lee i know this video is a bit older but what did you pay for your tool trailer and curious why you didn't get like a sprinter van or a Ford metro van tap a vehicle?

    I love it, man! How your trailer goes into the week, is not how it comes out of the week. If I can go through the week, without digging for stuff, I’m doing good. But, it gets cluttered up pretty quick.

    A tool trailer is one of the best choices I ever made... it places everything at your fingertips , this way if I need a hammer I know exactly where it is, also have a foldable wagon in it to transport my immediate tools needed inside the jobsite. If you're a handyman as Lee said it's almost a necessity!

  • @carlosaraiza0331

    I been looking a 6x12 enclosed trailer at Lowe's that's $2,899. Ramp back door. Side door. V shaped front. You're right, putting tools in the bed of a truck gets old fast. I like your set up. Simple. Functional. Rough. It's great! Do you plan on decals/wrap on the trailer? Man I can't wait to get one of my own! Is there a certain way you roll your extension cords? Also, what brand/type of caulk do you prefer?

    • @handymanjourney
      @handymanjourney  6 лет назад

      Nice man!! Thats exciting! When do you plan on getting it? I bought my trailer off craigslist for $1200. I don't Plan on putting any decals on my truck or trailer, just my magnets. I had thought about putting advertising on my trailer in the past but dont see the need for it right now. Who knows though. I found this cool way to wrap my extension cords in a chain! I love it, It makes storing and moving the cords so easy and no knots! Maybe I should do a video on that! I like the Alex brand caulking.

    • @carlosaraiza0331
      @carlosaraiza0331 6 лет назад +1

      Here in Corpus Christi, Texas, Craiglist is not as fruitful as other places. But dang it'd be nice to score a deal like you did! I'll probably have to buy new, as soon as I knock out some personal debt Dave Ramsey style! I'll make a video! For now, I'll keep loading and unloading my pickup truck. 💪

    These Ron Paulk guys are amazing, but I don’t see how it applies to us (3-4 job stops a day guys, with a lot of different materials to pack with us). Tools are important, but I go through a lot of materials in a day, and in a week. I don’t have time to make 4 lumber yard trips in a day. If you shove some sheets of CDX, or drywall, you can’t access all your tools, and that gets frustrating. Real life..... how do you keep your materials accessible, and dry, and be able to get to your tools?

    Do you wish you had gone bigger (besides height)? 6x10 or 12 v nose, so you could have a work bench in the front. Easier to move around and possibly a work bench, but more room might make keeping it somewhat organized less if a priority.

    I don't agree with tool trailers unless you have a single trade - like trim carpentry. You would be better, faster, and smarter to have a handyman service truck with a utility jobsite topper with flip up sides. Trailers can be stolen in a heartbeat. Also you have no room to haul appliances. Gas mileage goes way down, and a breakdown or accident is a total disaster. But, to each his own.
    Handyman 101 is to finish a job and get the hell out of their driveway, causing junky trailers and trucks. However it's better to take the time to replace everything where it goes straight away, and clean as you go. It took me YEARS to admit this makes the most sense.

      It's funny you say that, cause my work rig is a 36 foot goose neck trailer with 7'6" tall ceilings and it is Jamb Packed.
      On the plus side, it's so freaking heavy and it's a goose neck, it's not likely to be stolen, I never leave it anywhere that doesn't have a gate and guard on duty, otherwise it goes home with me.
      I do have a $%&! load of tools in it, but what I value the most is all the hardware I can keep with me, Iv'e tried everything over the years, I couldn't do it nearly as efficiently without the trailer.

But if you want to be an asshat and criticise then show us your set up. Put up or shut up mama's boy.
