Great to see you guys! American friend chiming in. I think we all study Poe (I did in the 80s, my daughter did a few years ago), and most probably read the Raven, but did not memorize it. I think it is one of those things that is referenced enough in popular culture that most people recognize it. Love your Nevermore, I stitched that one too!
Love you two❤❤ Loving the queen skellie stitch, can't wait to see the king! I love using a ball tip needle, pricey, but secure to your stitching so you don't lose. In the states, they run about $10-12 for two. I enjoy backstitching but I do like when it lays relatively straight!
Yes it was Gwhitney (LOL) who was stitching Big Stitch on 40 count. I'm doing 36 count but with some really funky CGT floss! Lovely to see you both giggling this week xx
A month late but another American chiming in on Poe. We read The Raven in 8th grade - I can remember the year clearly because my 8th grade English teacher loved silly humor and showed us the Simpsons version of it! Quoth the Raven... Eat my shorts! I also did an entire presentation of Poe short stories and poems for speech team in high school and of course I included The Raven.
American here. I agree with another poster, I studied Poe several times across the years, 'Cask of Amontillado,' 'Fall of the House of Usher,' 'The Raven' etc., but was never required to memorized it.
In the older days , ( I am almost 54)we did learn the poem. Especially, if you lived in the east coast. (We lived in Maryland ,on a field trip we we went to the house)When I moved to the west coast Nevada ,many did not know any Poe works. I was 12.

We learned Poe’s The Raven in Texas, but the last couple of years our school didn’t teach it. I think it depends on the teacher.
Did I immediately like the video? Yes 🖤 🎃

@@mizscarlettdragon thanks for answering the question! That’s fascinating - so more likely if you lived in the east.
Speaking of enabling, Owlforest got fab new pattern out (but that castle is sooo big) 0_o
The Black Roses design? Yes, that one is gorgeous. And as you say, big. 33 x 69 cm on 32 count! I'm assuming over 2
