The definition of cinema has been quite debated recently due to the Scorsese-Marvel ordeal, but to me personally, cinema is an art form that doesn't rely on sequels, spin-offs, or prequels to make money. It's the love in filmmaking that makes it cinema, and that love is slowly reviving through the recent releases (mostly 2019) we've seen, imo.

Theaters are EXCLUSIVELY dedicated to plays before the 20th century but in the mid 20th century, movie theaters became thing so... movies themselves ARE the cinema, no matter where it's seen. Netflix has been churning out absolute bangers like Marriage Story and The Irishman and Netflix is mostly a home streaming service. I don't live in the U.S. or U.K. so I don't know if the movies mentioned were screened at theaters, but in my case, they weren't and they were only accessible through Netflix.

Honestly the dance scene in Lovers Rock where there is moisture dripping off the walls, easily one of the most atmospheric and dense scenes of the year.
Very happy to see Soul there, a lot of people should start looking at it as more than just ‘a movie for kids’ or ‘an animated movie’ its a beautiful journey.
What Even more amazing about Another round is tvat fact that the daughter of Thomas Vintberg was killed by a drunk driver just before filming of the movie started. Which made him change the course of the theme to a more dark and realistic look.

as soon as I finished watching this I went and watched Kajillionaire, with high expectations of course, and WOW. It did not disappoint. I have never experienced a story like Kajillionaire. Do yourself a favor and watch this film if you haven’t already.

Another Round is a modern masterpiece. And it makes me truly proud to be danish. The clear winner of the best international feature oscar and Mads Mikkelsen really deserves a nomination for best actor. Absolutely astonishing filmmaking

I loved Kajillionaire. It was weird (heard that's what you can expect from Miranda July), but I got it, and I loved it. And that score by Emile Mosseri. Might be the best score I've heard in 2020.
I've only WATCHED 20 movies this year and like half of them were stand up specials. Glad you liked Kajillionaire though it was a weird and wacky time, and also the only thing I saw in theaters this year.
