I've survived hurricanes, floods, burying 2 of my children, covid, almost dying myself, and more than I care to even divulge.. My dad was a doctor at charity hospital. I've seen more horrors than I ever deserved.. it's the New Orleans spirit in each and every one of us from that great city. God has his hand on us. He is with us. WE WILL PREVAIL.

Some of us think funerals are a weird ritual that really isn’t needed. Huge segments of the population die with no fanfare and the world keeps turning. Funerals cost like $30,000. That’s serious money that could be spent on something better- it’s basically vanity. Go ahead and have funerals, it’s ok but I think it’s a waste of money.

Hopefully when this mess is over New Orleans will have a celebration of life jazz parade for everyone that lost love ones that couldn't have a proper sendoff. It would not only help the local community it would touch people all over the country

Not sure I quite understand your question but the jazz celebration at each funeral in New Orleans is traditional event each time there's a funeral as I understand it.

@@yengsabio5315 The jazz procession is a service which includes a small fee that is included in the funeral services, I'm not sure how many parishes but i only know of a few. Upon the death of a loved one the funeral home will ask the grieving family if they want a jazz celebration included and its usually included in the fee of funeral costs. I don't live in New Orleans but I'm there visiting all the time and have been to several of those jazz events.

What were their government and elected leaders thinking though? From Seattle ... we saw this coming. At the time- I was completely flabbergasted that their leadership allowed Mardi Gras to go forward. Like lambs to slaughter. The citizens of New Orleans deserved better leadership. It would’ve saved countless lives. They’ve endured enough.
Mardi Gras occurred before the federal government announced that COVID was a threat in the US. The mayor has been more stringent with the restrictions than the rest of the state. If local officials had known, they could have taken appropriate action to prevent Mardi Gras from becoming a super spreader event.
