As of 2024, the Tacoma Hill is no longer active. A derail has been placed just beyond the East C Street Crossing and the line has been severed just beyond the 72nd Street/McKinley Ave crossing. All of the railroad crossing signals have had their lights removed or have been turned inwards. At 72nd, they have removed the overhead mast of the crossing. Other crossing from the severed point till 104th Street have had their lights removed. Now, freight is handled by Rainier Rail via Chehalis.

That is really a shame. Watching trains go up that big hill was always a lot of fun. I was surprised it lasted as long as it did.
