For inquiring minds that might want to know. The amount of overhang of the shelter off the rear of the bed was determined by being able to fit a 5 gallon pail in front of it. 😂
@@NEILSWORLD I'm out of the 4wd world at the moment, and playing with a 2wd beater dodge from the 80's. (The cummins drgged me in.....) Oh, and my barbie bike wouldn't even block your door. Yamaha TW200. ;-)
Superb! It's a bonus when you can use something that you have created for multiple purposes beyond its main purpose. What else do I like? Yep... fabrication! You should show your builds so that others can better follow your lead. Turn one video into 4 how-to videos... habitats are not my thing, but watching fabrication is... just my two cents. Great build... keep it up!
I'm with Dave! I would love to watch a build series of this lift gate project! Also, I'm with you regarding the mechanical winch.. One less problem, and isn't that the goal? Fantastic job!
Thank you Neil. I’m 100% that I’ll copy your carrier model except mine will be for the lift to come out of the rear you garage. Thank you so much. This was a great movie.
Looks good! One of those 90° electric drills would make that job 100x easier when your at home, then do it manually when your away. Editing hint: I don't know what editing software you're using.. When you edit the video in fast forward, you should be able to separate your audio from your video to keep your narration at regular speed. Looking forward to the next one. Love watching your videos!!
Thanks Mike, I believe it's best to do it manually all the time unless I'm not able to. The more you do it the easier it is. I did separate the audio for some of the narration, I guess that worked out pretty well sounds like you didn't notice it 👍. Some of the stuff I was saying wasn't important so I didn't feel the need to separate it and use it.
So, is the shelter and lift deck available as a kit for the LMTV truck with modification to be able to lift racks on wheels to the door level, with pins at that and the motorcycle level from where and how much?
At 1:20 in the video you can see the ratchet straps that I use on the rear. they go from the rings on the corners of the shelter down to the frame rail. I can do this because I have slid it back and it overhangs the bed. in the front I have an angle iron that sits right on top of the front bed rail and I plan on bolting that down there with two large bolts.
Very nice! We are thinking of building something similar. I’d love to know how the up-down system works; sliders, wheels, or what? Thanks for uploading!
Nice Job! I ended up putting my GS on the front of the truck due to the shape of my overland box. In hindsight I might have changed the shape of the box to accommodate the bike on the back like yours. Next build I guess!. One question .... does the drum of your winch have a partition for the two cables from each side? Or do they just "co-mingle"? Thanks!
It is one cable that goes up from the winch through a sheave across the top through another sheave, down and connects to the vertical post that is connected to the liftgate
I do not have a trailer to test. My guess would be you could with the liftgate folded up but not with it in the flat position. Too much overhang so the lift gate might hit the trailer going through a dip.
That is a really well thought out design. Stop giving me ideas I have enough projects to work on around here...it makes my OCD go nuts... LOL

What comes around goes around 😁👍🤪
I loved the flip in front tire chock to clear the deck, nice detail touch!
You are having way too much fun with your urban assault vehicle Neil!
A clear deck was one of my main goals. The attachment points for tie down straps will not be above deck either 👍. I am having loads of fun aren't I 😁

I like the simplicity of the hand driven line, and the extra space it would add to the living space.
It's a lot nicer than stepping out the door onto a ladder 👍

Simplicity works every time. Love the lift gate.
You got that right. I recall you did away with your air over hydraulic pump 👍
Very cool ideas 👌👍 . I’m busy with S280 shelter . I will put the shelter on my M35A2 . Very nice video thx .

LOLOLOL.. I have no idea what sounds they were.. Great job engineering this truck and lift gate system.

I built the lift deck myself.

Hey Neil. Great work brother. How did you anchor your shelter to the bed of the LMTV? If you used bolts how many and what size?

cool build, subscribed
Thanks for the sub!
This is a really nice build ! Tell me more about your cycle.

@@NEILSWORLD Very nice! From the grunt it makes, I suspect lots of torque.
Yes. Single cylinder. I also put a smaller sprocket on the front.
Awesome work! you are giving me some great ideas for mine when I get it👍🏻
Oh yeah, you'll have all sorts of work to do when you get yours😁

I used unistrut trolleys and unistrut that I reinforced with iron channel around it.

Yes, I wanted a nice flat deck surface without any obstacles. 👍
The winch is anchored to one side of the liftgate and moves with it.
@@NEILSWORLDDoh! I feel stupid! Of course. Thanks
Would the pingle hitch still be usable for towing?

Well thought out!
I think there was some steam coming off my head there a few days. 🤣
Nice job.
Thanks!
Show me how to make it
Welding a nut to that handle crank and using a cordless drill should make it easier and faster to load and upload
I bought that one specifically because it has a hex on it and I do use a cordless drill and socket. 👍
well done!
Thank you
A power drill would be nice.
I do use a power drill on it.
