There is always plan B--for Bacon. Get your mini pig, enjoy the little guy while he's cute and small, then when it gets big, enjoy the bacon, ham, and pork chops. You can give him a good, happy, fulfilling life, until it comes time for that one bad day. You probably don't even needed a specific mini pig for this, as a regular one will work just as well.
My personal experience raising lots and visiting lots of mini pigs, HEALTHY SMALL mini pig adults (5+ years old) weigh under 100 lbs, usually not less than 60 (seen very few exceptions, my smallest 5 year old boy is just over 60 lbs). I've got 1 year old ones, and they still look like piglets - could fit two of them in a large dog crate with space for two more if packed tightly. So, I guess buying them 1+ yo will ensure you that they'll not be humongous in a couple of months. But to be sure that your pig will stay small as it is, it should be fully grown aging 5+ y.o. About mine I expect them to double in size in the next 4 years, but still they'll stay manageable sized.

He would come and go as he pleased, and would frequently go up and down the stairs- that is, until he got so big that one day he went down the stairs and he could not physically get back up. He was a bit over two hundred pounds. Perhaps potbellies were bred to be a little heavier back in the 90s, or perhaps my grandparents were just mislead by the breeder. I have 3 females they are all a year old 2 are smaller and 1 is as big as memphis
I’ve been told you have to limit their diet quite a bit to keep them small
@@WillowRidgeAcres yeah i get that but if i dont give them enough food i have to deal with their attitudes
@@seantbr2019 oh for sure. Memphis isn’t shy to tell us when he’s hungry. lol SQUEEEAAAL 🐷
#1 thing people need to know, "mini" or "micro" pigs still get big like a mid-size retriever
So true!
Have 2 one is still a baby probably 45-50lbs and one is probably 200
Ever think about just shutting the gate to its pen ?
I didn’t think about it in that moment. Lessons were learned. 😅😂
I will have my 3 goats...2 pigs... and a Llama ...
One day...
Gotta have a Llama in the group! 😆 Thanks for watching!
And one day I'll have a partridge in a pear tree and a Santa clause on the roaster. Lmao.
80 lbs?
Close!
I have two mini pigs they live in my house.
That's awesome! How much do they weigh? Thanks for watching!
@@WillowRidgeAcres stinker is almost 2 years old. Guess his weight I say 125lbs the vet thinks 90 lbs.
Miss piggy she is colors to 50 lbs. we love are 🐖. They make great pets. But they are not for everyone.
I trim there hoofs. I have no problem doing that.
Love the names! Stinker and Miss Piggy are perfect pig names!
@@WillowRidgeAcres they are very smart. Miss piggy she is 6 months old. She is full of it.
We learned a lot and still learning. They both can spin and set. In the mornings I have the dogs set and the pigs set for treats. We are changing their feed to sharps. They get a oink book every month. It has all kinds of stuff in it.
Why didn’t you bring the scale to him and close the gate???
Honest mistake. 😳
Well mine should be 130 then he's not to much bigger mines around 2 years old
They get big
That squeal! Your neighbours must think you are butchering your pigs.
All they should have did is got his favorite treat and had him followed like a jar of peanut peanuts and shake them and say come on let's go use your brain
You’re right. We will do better next time.
Why did you let the dogs chase him? Of course the pig is panicking!
Honest mistake 😳
That was so upsetting.
I got lucky, after 3 years Sadie pig is only 60lbs. Sadie's a little bit smaller than the size of a full-grown boxer dog & NO, I Don't Starve my piggy gurl..
Thanks for watching! I feel like we may have fed Memphis too much 😬
