    We really enjoyed trying some UK fast food chains that we had never tried before. Let us know in the comments if you have been to them, what you thought, or which restaurants we should try in the future. We still have a few more videos coming up in the UK, including a few snack and fast food ones, so make sure to subscribe so that you don't miss them. In the next video we will be in Belfast for the first time. We absolutely loved it there and we can't wait to show you what we did and ate there! Thanks for watching! 😊- Brandon & Anja

    This is fun. Watched Beard Meats Food do a few fast food vids. I don't like Nutella, way too sweet for me, it was like frosting. Never heard of German doner kabab, like the cabbage addition. Never heard of Whimpy but the food looked good. It is pretty cool how the McD in England does seasonal variations.

    I just discovered you guys today and I'm binge watching right now. Watching you eat onion rings reminded me of my high school years. (Very long ago!) I was born and raised in Panama City, FL, USA, and there was a drive-in called Jimmy's. You simply parked your car there and the waitresses came out and took your order. You rolled down your window a bit and they clipped the tray onto the window. The onion rings there were famous. They were so thick and so crispy! I liked them with ketchup and mustard. So good! Have you heard of Wendy's fast food place? They serve a shake called a Frosty. It's so thick you have to eat it with a spoon to begin with. I'm so curious--how do you guys eat like this and not gain weight? Lucky you. I've been to London only three times and I wish I had seen you try out these various places to eat before visiting. The steak sandwich looks so good. I once bought a bacon sandwic near Hampton Court Palace and the bacon was like ham and the sandwich was stacked so high I couldn't eat it all. I couldn't chew the "bacon" either. It was tough. I prefer my greasy American crispy bacon. The Donor Burger looks delicious! I do love my fellow foodies, so thanks for taking me on a food feast in your videos!

      That sounds super cool! We would love to go to a fast food place like that. I'm not sure how many places like that exist anymore, but we'd love to go to one. We plan on doing a big American road trip at some point - but that likely won't be for a few years! We'd love to hit up a drive-in theatre while we're there as well. I LOVE them!
      Yeah, we have Wendy's in Canada where I (Brandon) am from. Anja only just tried it recently, when we were there visiting my family. She loved it. That's what I was thinking of, when I was dipping my fries into my shake. I always dip fries into my Frosty. So goood.
      I love both types of bacon, but if I had to choose, I'd go American style as well. Anja agrees!
      Thanks so much for binging and commenting!

    UK kebab is pretty similar to turkish kebabs to me, i mean i was just in turkey last week and had a kebab and even their kebab sauce was similar to my local in the uk. And all the workers at my local kebab shop are turkish too haha.

    • @wherearewe-yt
      @wherearewe-yt  6 месяцев назад

      Not really. In our experience, if you get a authentic kebab in Istanbul it usually just has meat and bread. No lettuce, no sauce inside. Maybe onions and tomato. The meat is lamb and thicker cut, not chicken or anything like that. Of course, there are probably touristy places that serve similar things to abroad, but that's not how their OG kebab is over there. There are also other kebab versions in Turkey like the İskender kebap which are totally different. Kebab shops everywhere in the world are usually run by Turkish people, but they still differ everywhere. The Berlin Doner Kebab was invented by Turkish immigrants and pretty much all German Doner shops are run by Turkish people.

    I personally love German Doner Kebab, they are very good - BUT... they are just what they say, the German version, for German tastes. The meat is good, the salad is fresh, and the sauces are tasty (but far too sweet, imo,).
    I generally get their 'Gym Box' delivered, which is just meat and salad, and assemble it in a wrap which I always have on hand. Not a big fan of the waffle bread...
    A good independent kebab shop will be equally as good, and most importantly will be lamb rather than beef.
    Both Turkish and Greek/Cypriot variants are around, and if going to a new kebab shop, the smell of the meat is usually a good indicator, along with how fresh the salad looks.

      Where I'm from, on the East Coast of Canada, we have the "donair", which comes from the Turkish döner/ Greek gyro. It's got heavily spiced beef for the meat. It's served with only tomato and onion in a pita type bread, and the sauce is super sweet and garlicky (made from condensed milk). 😆

      Haha, that would be nice. Why would Wenzel sponsor us? We are nobodys with only 6000 subscribers. We've never had a sponsor before. If we did, we'd be obligated to disclose that. However, we'd certainly be thrilled if a big brand wanted to sponsor us. Thanks for thinking we'd be good candidates 🤓😆. Maybe you should let them know! 🙃

      @raginigupta6482 Who's "everybody", exactly? 8.5k people?
      You do realize that major companies like this don't sponsor RUclips videos, correct?..and if they were to pay us, I'm pretty sure they would not be satisfied with us comparing them to a competitor, and saying they are "slightly better" (at best). 😂
      Not only that..but we feature 3 other restaurants in the same video.
      Again. If a RUclips video is sponsored, it will say it's sponsored. And we'd be under contract to disclose that. That's how RUclips works.
      Also, there's nothing wrong with sponsors - and if Wenzels did want to sponsor a video, we would gladly do it! Creating RUclips videos, especially ones related to food and travel, isn't cheap. 😂

    Oh god the dreaded Bendy at Wimpy lol....I will go to my grave remembering in the late 90s when I was in secondary school walking past our 1 remaining wimpy and seeing the great poster that stated "Come in and enjoy the bendylicious pork bendy bender meal" baring in mind to 15 year old me the only time I had heard the term "bender" was as a homophobic slur.....It certainly did its job and made me look again at the poster...basically thinking "Surely they are not allowed to say that". As a Brit I like seeing people from other countries come here and try our food and actually enjoy it!. I still get a little annoyed that in every comment section there is always a "ConK-Ered the world for spices then don't use em, BriT-ISH food is garbaarge" style comment when they couldn't be further from the truth in reality. A lot of what is classic British food is warming comfort food designed to keep you full and happy in colder winter months, which I think it does very well but they tend towards using local herbs as seasonings rather than expensive spices. Also need to mention the fact that many British favourites are passed down from Grandmothers or Mothers who lived during rationing in both World Wars where there wasn't a massive spice trade because getting other things was more important than wasting room on a cargo ship for boxes of Cumin, Ginger and Paprika. You also tend to find when going back in history the highly spiced food in Britain was reserverd for the rich, EG look at any Tudor period food and the peasentry had stews or plain meat and veg usually flavoured with herbs where as the Royal Court ate full on meals where everything had Nutmeg and Mace in it.

      There's definitely the stereotype that British food is bland, and flavourless, but we've had plenty of great food all around the UK. A lot of food I grew up with in Canada is similar, so a lot of it feels nostalgic to me as well. The majority of my grandfathers siblings, and both of his parents, were UK born. I suppose the recipes he passed down was a reflection of that! Baked beans, salt/corned beef...we even grew up eating Terry's chocolate oranges for Christmas. Hahaha. So many things I didn't know were British, until we spent so much time in the UK.

      @wherearewe-yt  6 месяцев назад

      Well, it actually started in the US. As we mentioned in the video, it was founded in America in 1934. Then it came to the UK 20 years later. While it is now headquartered in South Africa, it didn't actually come to South Africa until 1967. The point of the Video was also just to eat fast food in the UK, even if the fast food chains were established elsewhere.

      Why do so many people have an issue with us liking Wenzel's? We didn't even say it was mind-blowing or anything. We were pet-sitting and there were only so many options we could choose from in the Neighborhood. We also made a Gregg's video in the past and some viewers told us to try out Wenzel's. So we listened and tried it out. We often make these type of videos so I guess naturally many places get free advertisement from us. 🤷

    I've only been to GDK once and I wasn't overly impressed with it tbh , I'd happily give it another go though, as far as kebabs go in the UK, there isn't really such a thing as a "British kebab" most chip shops sell them but they tend to be very poor quality whether the chippy is owned by British people or other nations people , the best kebabs to get are definitely the Turkish or Cypriot ones without a shadow of a doubt

      We weren't expecting much when we went to GDK. The reviews were less than stellar, and some of the photos looked quite sad when people had ordered delivery. I think we got quite lucky! Getting it in person, mid-day, where the meat hadn't been drying out all day..probably the ideal conditions!

I've never had a kebab in Germany or one done in the German style so I have no idea if its accurate or not in that regard , but I do like my Doner's to be lamb which is probably why I love the Turkish ones so much
