To be fair, _Corrupted_ is a very ambitious Metroidvania with three playable characters, a cohesive world and story, a ton of planned sidequests and collectibles, and a lot of moving parts (including Mavericks being able to change the world state in the latter half), designed by a small team of volunteers. _X8 16-bit_ was specifically scaled down so that it would be feasible for just one person to finish in a timely manner, with the scope not going further what than the SNES games did.

I mean, it's their game after all, but JKB's team has spent a lot of effort and time on some useless features like Holiday gimmicks that would not make it to the final version, adding more retro armors when they initially said that only some of them would be included, and redesigning the stages all over again (e.g., Hoatzin's stage). At least Alysson gave a demo before the Demake's final version, but for Corrupted we can only have a glance on videos that most probably won't include the same scenarios due to the constant changes.
Is this playable on the SNESX emulator it looks super cool! Is the ROM available yet? I've never played X8 but this really makes me want to play it ty for this!

This game is incredible, but really astounding the fact that it’s a fan made game. Man I miss the 16 bit era.
