It is just literally insane how we see these videos every freaking day of cops demanding ID to complete their investigation. How is that man's ID going to tell the cop whether there was or was not a child running around naked and or in danger. What the cop hopes the ID will do is let him bypass the investigation and arrest the individual for a warrant. I'm coming to believe the police actually solve more crimes arrest more people based on warrants because they continually run people's IDs, rather than any actual crime solving.
This cop is a perfect example of why there are so many cold cases. Unless it’s a caught in the act, the cops have a tough time following clues. If there is a naked kid running around, the cop sure isn’t interested in looking for him.

Rights do Not depend on the OPINIONS of other people (for example, Police opinions). That is why they are called RIGHTS. We don't exercise them only when someone else gives permission. And that being said, it is the reason Police Officers in the US are so DANGEROUS, cuz Cops think that their opinions represent the Law.

The cop was using his academy training in his investigation. It is all about use of words to trick you into thinking that you must comply in their so called investigation by voluntarily giving up your rights. It's just a game that they hate losing. At least this cop knew where to draw the line and kept his ego in check.
After realizing his mistakes-He apologized and let him go- humbled. Well done citizen and officer.

And most of the time I'm sure it works because most people don't know their rights or the laws. But this time he ran into someone who wasn't afraid and knew his rights. The cops then spends 20 minutes trying to dig himself out of the hole he created.
The only cost is going to be to the tax payer until qualified immunity is repealed!

Yeah, he’s “transparently” violating the driver’s Constitutional rights.
That cop and his backup sure waisted a lot of time trying to get the guy to ID and talk, instead of looking around for a child in distress.
He did violate your rights by detaining you with out telling you what crime he suspecting you of.
After 18 mins of explaining how he's "conducting an investigation", he does about 1 min of 'investigating'.then spends the rest of the time checking with someone smarter, then explaining why he's wrong, and explaining why he's apologizing.

One of the best interactions I have seen. With a couple of bumps, Weaver took the time (albeit a lot of time), to address each detail as it emerged throughout the interaction.
BINGO❣
@@kuyajeff6552 there never was a naked kid running around. I’ve had cops approach me in the same manner for a burglary alarm at a huge plaza with 500+ shoppers. Out of all the people there. They harassed a man who just pulled into the parking lot and parked. I have it on video.

My bike was stolen, here's the video of the theft, there's my bike in my neighbor's backyard, and here's the yearbook picture of the juvenile in the video taking the bike. If that's not enough there's some DNA where the perpetrator snack is armed on the fence right here. Officers gather your evidence and documentation, and promptly making arrests 6 months later, and brag to the community about another crime solved.

I'm guessing that in school, he was the one that would rat out his classmates for stuff they did while the teacher was out of the room. I hope that he is never allowed to carry more than one bullet at a time.
He went through the academy. Apparently, he either retained nothing or his instructors know the law about as much as he does.
At the end, it seemed like he used 100 words to say “you’re free to go.”
It only took 100 words because he desperately wanted to avoid saying "you're free to go." He had to spin it as something he was still in control of, rather than something the citizen had been right about from the beginning.
The academy is about how to protect yourself, not to learn the law.

Props to this officer, he appears to be fairly new, not enough experience but he didn't escalate this into an arrest or anything else that it shouldn't have gone to.
oh bullpiles. does this guy look like a 12 year old nakid kid.
According to this cop, if they are investigating something, citizens no longer have a 4th or 5th amendment rights. That is how he was trained.
If they know all that stuff, they cant claim they were acting in good faith that they were right, putting themselves in legal jeopardy. Plus, knowing people's rights and respecting them is a loss of alot of their tactics...its to their benefit to train ignorance.
Obviously you don't understand any of those.
He is more concerned about getting ID than looking for the 12 year old he said he was looking for.
There’s caselaw from the supreme court, stating suspicion alone cannot be a reason for detainment.

He said multiple times I am not here to violate your rights while he committed at least 3 Felony Crimes of Violation of rights and depravation of rights and on 2 separate times threatened to charge him with a crime of interference of his investigation as intimidation to force him to surrender his rights tried to claim that the mere fact he was in a vechile he had a right to inspect his ID to verify he had the right to operate the vechile as a means to identify him never at any point did he ever try and conduct the investigation he was sent there to conduct (dereliction of duty) then spent forever Copspaining about how he wasn't going to continue pushing the issue and force the man to identify and how all the time he spent violating his rights wasn't a Violation of his rights.
