Have to disagree with you on this one Angela. This is a great composition and Warwick's voice is perfect for it. The song sung with her voice tone makes me appreciate the lyrics! Her voice drives the song's meaning home.
Well, Angela rarely surprises me with her final reaction. But she got me this time. I honestly thought that she was going to thoroughly enjoy this song. Maybe that's just because I love it so much. I think that Dionne did a magnificent job singing this one.
Definitely
She had a million hits
One of the true greats in the pop era
Her and bacharach had a long run of hits.
Love Dionne Warwick ,she is an icon with a great voice.
Another song from The Bee Gees, which they wrote for Warwick. This song brought her back into the spotlight and gave her long career a new boost.
Their own version (recorded later) is also excellent.
There was some kind of falling out between Dionne and the Bee Gees at some point after this album was released. I never did hear what happened.
@@RVMaxtube I saw her twice speeking about the Bee Gees and Barry in a documentary and something like a tribute and she praised them. Maybe you mean the "troubles" when she got the song, she didn`t like it and criedon the way home!?
Dionne Warwick’s voice is stellar in this as well as everything she ever recorded. And the song itself - by The Bee Gees - is one of my all time favorites!
@@mudhens4ever, agreed, she is a Fantastic singer
I liked it when I heard it back in the 80s & still do. Dionne has so many great songs & a powerful voice
When approached by the Bee Gees for Dionne to record Heartbreaker she originally didn’t at first like the song, and had to be convinced to record it, Bee Gees told Dionne Heartbreaker will be a hit song, Dionne was sceptical but it turned out to be one of Dionne Warwick’s biggest hits, Dionne Warwick very close to her cousin Whitney Houston , Dionne said Whitney was the daughter she never had,and they were very close friends, anything the Bee Gees had written is phenomenal they were surely one of the greatest songwriters ever , great reaction thanks!
Her vocals are incredible on this. Would love to hear them isolated.
I really liked it. It's going on my 80s playlist.
Love Dionne. Pure class!
Yes, The Bee Gees sang the background vocals on this
Only Barry singing background vocals, as he did on this album & others they wrote for people.
@@kthor, I just looked it up, and the internet agrees with you.
This song was written by The Bee Gees, and features Barry Gibb in the chorus vocals
And Barry & his production team (Gibb-Galuten-Richardson) produced it.👍
Dionne Warwick had many hits. When she was younger but also when she got older. 'All The Love In The World' or I'll Never Love This Way Again' and she did a nice duet with Stevie Wonder 'It's You' from the movie Woman in Red with Gene Wilder and Kelly LeBrock 😍. Great 80's music and movie. Everybody check it out!
Just out of interest this song achieved the highest chart position of any Dionne Warwick single in the UK and the album from which it came was the biggest selling of hers worldwide.
Terrific. Love this one.
Dionne Warwick's album Heartbreaker was largely written by the Bee Gees, and produced by band member Barry Gibb along with Karl Richardson and Albhy Galuten; Gibb and Galuten also served as musicians on the album plus Barry did many of the background vocals by himself. The title song featured Barry Gibb’s backing vocals on the chorus, and was written by all three Gibb brothers. Warwick recorded the songs on Heartbreaker during the spring of 1982.
love this song, in fact I have loved just about all of her music
"Heartbreaker" was written by Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb of the Bee Gees for singer Dionne Warwick's same-titled album.
She's related to the late GREAT Whitney Houston....Love it!!!
Her voice is SO Good. Love the BEE Gees also
Dionne Warwick definitely was one of the great vocalists of the second half of the 20th century. Whether she performed solo hits such as 'Do you Know the Way to San Jose?' or with other artists like Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight, and Elton John in 'That's What Friends are For.' Always love your videos, Angela. You are a beautiful person.♥
I enjoyed the song, glad you played it. I never knew it existed. :)
Yess the Bee Gees! Don't know if you already did Barbra Streisand ' Woman In Love'? Also Bee Gees and a beautiful song! Maybe for your next Female Friday.
don't make me over now that I found.....love. MS Dionne thanks Angela❤
Now she has a unique voice
I like your reactions you are a good judge of music and you sometimes get emotional which is a sign of a good heart, Dionne Warwick was a good performer, after seeing her in an interview I believe that she had a good heart as well. Thank you
luv that song luv dionne warwick
You say, figuratively, that you can hear Barry singing the chorus. Well the BeeGees actually recorded a demo of this song before Dionne's ultimate recording. Their demo can be found on RUclips. Personally, I love this song and i have loved it since 1982
All demos were recorded by just Barry, with the help of Albhy Galuten. They also did the same thing for other artists they wrote for.
Dionne Warwick believes in being true to her elderly ladies voice today by not pushing it as it's in very rusty shape today. Let's offer her praise that she can still sing and attract interest at 85! Beautiful effort ❤
A fabulous and distinctive voice and she was one of my mum and dad's favourites way back in the 1960's.
Dionne has so many hits, but 2 that come to mind are Deja Vu and her duet with Jeffrey Osborne titled Love Power! This one is very intense and sad! See ya next week!
I've grown to like this song more than I used to....guess I appreciate her so much more nowadays! Hope you have heard "Walk on By", one of her best.
Upbeat music paired with lyrics that are basically negative about a relationship that's kind of one-sided. She's critical of her partner yet somehow devoted and hopeful ..so upbeat makes sense.
Great Song ❤❤
Wow I’m surprised u didn’t love this, Great lyrics, listen to those lyrics again when u got a broken heart, then look for the nearest bridge !
I really liked this song as a teenager. The best song the Bee Gees wrote and produced for a female singer has to be Woman In Love by Barbra Streisand. It is the perfect love song and hit #1 in over 20 countries when it was released in September 1980
Beautiful.even though it’s a song about a a heartbreak
I LKE HER VOCALS ARE AMAZING🤩/THE DRIFTERS/ LIKE SISER & BROTHER😊
Thank you so much for this please keep up on your station❤❤❤😊😊
Beautiful music
Love the song and love your hair
The Bee Gees also wrote and sang backup on a great Nov. '85 song for Diana Ross named "Chain Reaction" which should've been a much bigger hit.
Just Barry sang backup on Chain Reaction. Robin & Mo only sang backing vocals once or twice for others they wrote for.
Yes that also was a great song, although it got to No1 in the UK Charts
She sang for Burt Bacharach who was also one of my favorite composers.
Interesting reaction. Rob Squad Reactions loved this song, as did several others and of course noticed the Bee Gees influence. Just shows there is no accounting for taste-Colin Ward
From 1980 and up to late 80's The Bee Gees were not well seen by many in the music business because their enormous success in 1970's. In the late 70's you could listen to the radio without hearing a song with some kind of involvement from them. This caused the radio stations to have Bee Gees free weekends so other artists got the chance. You could say their success becme their downfall in this periode.
So they ended up not recording any albums from 1981 to 1987,(except for the follow up movie score to SNF called Staying Alive in 1983). They instead wrote songs like these:
Woman In Love 1980 (Barbara Striesand album Guilty)
Heartbreaker 1982 (Dionne Warwick album Heartbreaker)
Island In the Stream 1983 (Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton album Eyes That See in the dark)
Chain Reaction 1984 (Diana Ross album Eaten Alive. Title song written together with Michael Jackson)
Runaway (Carola album Run Away, most of the songs written by only Robin and Maurice)
In between their own albums they also had time to write these songs:
Only One Woman 1969 (Marbles album The Marbles)
Emotion 1978 (Samantha Sang album Emotion. Destiny's Child made a version in 2001)
I Cannot Give You My Love 2004 (Cliff Richard album Somethings Goin' On)
Lovers And Friends 2005 (Only released on Bee Gees love songs album)
Have a great Valentine week Angela , Dionne Warwick has the perfect unique mellow soulful female voice , she has the type of singing style that would grow on people with each new time they hear her song again the future !!!:) ... Cheers
If you get a chance you should check out her documentary Don't Make Me Over. Amazing life and career of one of the greatest voices ever.
Nice memory!! My daughters would sing along with this in the back seat of the car. They were little so they made up their own lyrics but they belted it out!! 😂
Whitney Houston’s first cousin
It's kind of crazy when you look at her and see the resemblance to Whitney....especially the photos of her when she was younger.
Sounds like the eighties. She had a string of hits with hal david and burt bacharach. Some of the best pop songs ever recorded. Her recording of alfie is incredible.
This was written by the Bee Gees for Dionne . It Rekindled her career . She is also a cousin of the great Whitney Housten . She has some good early 60s 70s songs aswel . Thanks for bringing her to your Channel .
Beautiful woman, classy lady and great song!
I agree. Alot of people like this version by Dionne, BUT when you get time, listen to the Bee Gees version. It's WAY more heartfelt. Barry makes you feel the pain with that whispering voice! Dionne just sings it, Barry and his bros makes you feel it. Thanks.
Because tempo too fast on Dionne version. Anyway it's better than any Céline Dion songs 🤮
I appreciate your honesty. There is no need to be fake in an analysis.
Having said that, there is a trend in songs that you don’t like. “How Much I Feel” Ambrosia, “Somebody’s Baby” Jackson Brown , this song by Dionne Warwick.
All songs were big hits in their day but were not necessarily the best songs by each artist. I would describe them as “sing along to a guitar at the beach” type songs….which are not your cup of tea.
These are songs where I honestly think that you have to have experienced them in real-time to appreciate them
I’ve always thought this was a song about Fame - lyrics are so good!! It’s not easy to sing either!! 🤩
Yes Angela, I heard the same thing! I think the Bee Gee may have done the song also. Who did it first? Her or them?
They wrote it for her. Her manager asked the Bee Gees to write a song ( they wrote the album minus one song) for her. her career was in limbo. Dionne did not like the song , but Barry promised her a hit. He wasn't wrong. It jump-started her career. She had nothing but praise for the Bee Gees and how nice they were to work with.
Thought this was DW's best album, with many great songs on it . . Had it on vinyl for many years . .
That's why I love her reactions there very true I thought Angela would love this 1 and I was wrong then some songs I didn't think you'd like you end of liking very much
You are getting more beautiful everyday❤❤❤
She is married.❤️
I forgot to add my suggestion . . . so, for me, Peter Gabriel is 'the master' and I'd love you to react to one of his (and his band) most beautiful and joyous performances . . . which is In Your Eyes (live from the Secret World tour) . . or failing that, the studio version of this song on his album called 'So'. 🙂
To each his own. I 'm not fond of "San Jose," but l do like her "Say a Little Prayer for Me'" and "Message to Michael". Dionne-- a superb vocalist -- She can sing anything, IMO. The Bee Gees helped put her back on the Billboard charts and elsewhere. Sir Barry Gibb and Dionne were honored as Kennedy Center lifetime achievement artists this past December.
Its crazy as the disco era fade away into the 80s, so did the Bee Gees. However, they were still writing huge hits in the early 80s; this was one of them. And the song that I can hear out of this song maybe the Bee Gee's, 'Tragedy'. But thats just me.
This song came out when I was a in 5th grade, so I used to Crack myself and my freinds up by saying fart breaker.
Check out this song by the Bee Gees Live In Las Vegas One Night Only in 97.
"One Of These Nights" Eagles. Excellent rhymes for a dance, very melodic. Maybe a honerable mention 21 runner up.
Dear Adorable, i found a loophole. You didn't say ,more tha one comment. Just one song per comment.
Try "islands in the stream" sung by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton...also written by the Bee Gees.
Have always loved this song! Perhaps try the Bee Gees version as often theirs is better than who they wrote it for.🎼
One of Warwick's best songs ever! ❤ Still love you Britt 😊
I just loved Her
The Bee Gees were awesome song writers !! And I always loved Dionne Warwick (Aunt of Whitney Houston).
Interesting
Speaking of which, give a listen to Diana Ross's "Chain Reaction" (1985) which was written by the Brothers Gibb in the retro style of a '60s Motown song. The track was a #1 hit in the UK but didn't get far in the USA (beyond some popularity on the dance chart). The official video is also very charmingly retro. The Bee Gees were out of style in the '80s but continued to write hits for others.

Another fun fact is Dionne Warwick and Whitney Houston are first cousins.
Anyone not liking this song sung
by Dionne Warwick should pack it
in.
It very similar Islands in the stream
Check out her song "Deja Vu", if you haven't already done so.
michael jackson and barry gibb all in your name
She originally disliked the song, with it's pitchy vocals and tight passages. She was more accustomed to the mellifluous compositions by Burt Bacharach that were more tailored to her vocal range and breath control. But after it became the biggest hit of her illustrious career, she changed her tune....
I can totally hear Bee Gees in the production.
I love the Bee Gees version much more!
She is Whitney aunt
Identical to the Bee gees song by the duet Dolly Parton, and KR. Islands in the front of my boat lol
The Bee Gees are the back up in this song and Robin wrote this song.
uh--Barry and Robin, along with Mo, wrote this song. Check out the credits on Google or Wiki.
Barry did honors on backup.
👌👏👏
Angela,BROKEN VOW by LARA FABIAN please!!!!!Diane Warwick is a friend of our Karen Carpenter
Blue October - Fear
You’re welcome.
Only Barry Gibb sang background vocals.
I guess our tastes are "backwards" on this one. I thought "Do You Know The Way To San Jose" (a Burt Bacharach) song was kind of lame - - like some of this other songs (like "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head"). But this one by Dione Warwick was really good - - one of my 50 all-time favorites. But then we're from different generations, so what the heck.
Do "Get Closer" by Seals & Crofts (1976) next... ;-) Do the studio version, not a live one. The studio version is the best.
Please react to The Bee Gees version they recorded years after hers.
I agree with you to some extent. I don’t think it shows the total beauty of her talent. It was made to fit the pop style of the era. Many of her other songs show her beautiful vocals much more
Its woman in love your thinking of written for barbra Streisand by them
I think you should react to Dionne's live version of Will you still love me tomorrow from the Rialto Concert 1983. That's a must
Wow, I'm surprised you didn't really like this song! It caught me off guard! Oh well, that's how it goes I suppose! You might be thinking of Tragedy, then again maybe not! Bye again!
This is the first time I agree with you on a song that you weren't crazy about. It's a decent song but certainly not Barry Gibb or Dionne's best work by any means.
Please Exile with Kiss you all over.
I have to agree with Angela here. Although she has a great voice , I prefer the Bee Gees orig. Just my opinion.
Try sone other Dionne hits, only Aretha F had more hits than Dionne. Her early songs are classics with dozens doing cover of songs written for her because she was only one writers believed could sing them well.
Bee gees released this as a single and sang it on their own without Dionne and sang it in their concerts. Sample their version, it’s out there. I personally think this version is best, Dionne sang it perfectly.
Lacklustre reaction to a catchy, heartfelt hit song. Different strokes for different folks I guess…
