Best advice I can give from someone who suffers from IBD more specifically ulcerative colitis is that everyone will have an opinion on what you can and should eat, but ultimately each body is different and therefore what one person can tolerate, the next can’t. With time you will start to know which foods work for you specifically. Everyone claims to have their own medical opinion, but you just have to find the right medication that works for you and what keeps you in remission. Always remember to never skip doses on your medication because it can lead to a flare up. I hope you feel better soon ❤

I also have UC and I ignored it for months . Until I ended up in the ER. Eventually I had to be put on medication, so I’m on Entyvio now. It’s helped sooo much ! Find your triggers and even though it’s so hard to give up on certain foods. You’ll eventually feel like it’s not worth the pain you’ll go through 😭 I hope you find something that works for you ❤

IBD here too girl! Ulcerative Colitis more specifically and yess spicy food can be a trigger but so can a bunch of other things unfortunately. Keep a food journal with you of the things you eat and when you get flare ups you can circle them and know when to avoid cause it can be hard especially if it's something you like. I'm also lactose so when I have a diary and a flare up ooh girl it's the worst 😭. For me a lot of my flares up were stress related so also take that into consideration, especially with everything you have coming up. I pray you don't need medication and can just avoid flare ups with diet cause there's so many side effects with medication (depending which ones of course) pero having to take medication all the time has its toll too. Sending you the best vibes for your upcoming appointment!!

Lesley. I’m going to give you a advice but first let me tell you how all this stomach situation started with me. I can relate to what your going through because I’ve been there and done that. It all started when I was in my 30’s eating, drinking a lot of orange juice I was hooked to it day and night with everything I ate just like you with the spicy foods. And let me tell you that it caught up to me. Really bad pain in my stomach that I decided to see a Gastroentogist. They did an endoscopy and they 3 ulcers in my stomach. Good thing I didn’t need surgery because they weren’t bleeding ulcer but I had to drink meds and was cured with the medication but it went on till today that I’m 64 years old. I have never stopped suffering from my stomach. Tried every medication on the market and it would work for a bit and then back to the same thing. The foods such as chilly, tomato, ketchup, spaghetti sauce, anything with caffeine, like coffee, chocolate, sodas, lemons, lime, oranges anything that contain acid big NONO!! Now I have a metal in my stomach it’s actually platinum bracelet that keep my stomach close and it only opens up when I eat. This surgery help me keep all the acid in my stomach because from so much acid reflux and severe gastritis the good that I ate would not stay inside my stomach it would come up to my esophageal and I was about the get throat cancer. You suggest you stop eating chilly for good. Give it up complete as well as all the foods that I mention above. I hope you feel better and work with your doctor to see what works for you. I know it may be hard to stop eating something you really like but is better than getting cancer from the acid eating up
the cells in the throat. I still get pain if I drink orange juice for 4-5 days or eat any of the foods I mention above for days. I hope this can help you.

Same here. I have ibs and gastritis now. Had endoscopy and colonoscopy a week ago. If you continue to eat lots of spices, fried foods and acidic fruits you can risk getting stomach or esophagus cancer. I had 8 polyps removed from colon. My diet is everything right now. Refocusing as we speak. Take care of you. You’re young and have young babies.

Oh girl I’ve been going through this for years and I’ve been doing my own research. If it gets really bad I take omeprazol and if it is a mild flare up I just take Pepcid both prescribed by my doctor but are over the counter. Yeah food like Chile, tomatoes, alcohol coffee and citrus are a huge factor in flare ups but the thing that does it most for me is stress or anxiety. I started doing meditation and yoga and let me tell you I feel so much better. Also papaya is so good for gut health but in small quantities. Not the best taste but I can’t live without it.

@@valvinarosas9350 yes I truly believe in the root cause of anything that's manifesting physically internally and outside of us. Our body truly tells us what is going on we just need to be more attune with it. Her talking about sleep makes me think speaking from experience with gut issues as well, stress doesn't let you produce much stomach acid,it doesn't let you fully rest at night bc our body is in stress mode. Wacky sleep can be high cortisol at night . Everything we do impacts our health. So maybe looking at her hormones too and then seen what she does before bed that she can't fully stay a sleep at night. So truly a rx medicine just covers up symptoms. I have been study skin health and nutrition still learning everyday but our body is very interesting . I hope you aswell are able to work with someone bc gut issues are so frustrating 😔 ive dealt with gastritis growing up nd I get how frustrating it is to deal with gut discomfort

Look into taking a glutamine supplement !
I wasn’t having IBS problems - but when I turned 30c I started having really bad food allergies. I had to start carrying my an epi pen. After an extensive research, I came to find out I had an infection in My stomach which was weakening my intestine wall causing really bad heart burn and skin flare ups. I got into a detox treatment, stopped eating the foods that gave me flare ups for a year and added a glutamine supplement to my diet. Santo remedio! Slowly, I’ve been incorporating the foods I wasn’t allowed to eat and no flare ups or discomfort. I still eat them in moderation tho!

Have you tried a celery juice? I had a friend who drinked celery juice with a little bit of Cucumber and she said it helped alot. Her stomach wouldn't get less irritated. I know there is like powder form too but if you can try juicing, better. It's worth a try.
