Man I stayed with you the whole way,,n really good educational vid,,,will definitely help me in the future,,,thanks n I bet that reel is smooth as butttta , good job,,,I have about 50 rod n reels, so yea I need to pull maintenance,,,now RUN TO JESUS
Thank you for this video! I have a 2020 limited edition and last year while bass fishing, my reel wouldn’t close anymore, and after getting frustrated with it, I took it apart. Thankfully you video showed how the get the spring and that black piece to stay down, and wouldn’t you know! My reel works again! I’m very happy!
Thank you so much for taking the bail spring housing off and going close up on that. I had a bunch of grit in there that was driving me crazy and the spring popped a bit when I took it off. Wasn’t sure what I needed to be going for in laying it back down over it. I had to press the top of the black plastic piece inside the spring down and back in under the silver top of the pin underneath. Got it back on and it’s working smoothly after a clean and grease. Really saved the day!!
that boy going to be sluggish. I used 1/16 that amount of grease and had to take it apart and clean it out. It was so annoying how slow it turned compared to before I greased it.
That coil spring on the inside back of the spool is especially rust-prone on my Penns. A heavy oil like Corrosion X or LPS-3 should be good for that. Easy to go back and do.
Thanks for the video...I currently have mine tore down on my workbench and can't get it back together.......mine is slightly different from yours......mine is the 2016 limited edition...I appreciate you taking the time to show your teardown and reassemble procedure....it's given me the confidence to give mine another go this morning......thanks again.....
Thanks jt really seems to be a good real. I believe the only difference in build of the Limited Edition is carbon fiber drag discs instead of felt. My biggest issue was the little bearing and shim fell out of the backside of tne spool and i didnt see its order of assembly, and the tiny spring on the antitevverse bearind just be patient and use a pick or tooth pick....good luck 😃
I found this video looking for basic maintenance on the standard president Very nice video I'm still stuck trying to get the main gear out though. Im all tore down and the gear comes loose but won't exit the hole on the other side or something. } Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
I'm kind of a nut with maintenance so I'm on the opposite side of the spectrum but even servicing once a year makes you better than a majority of people! Those felt washers just need oil every so often and they'll stay flexible and won't tear up. It amazes me they still haven't come up with a better AR on/off system than that spring.
@@tackleboxtonyy on freshwater gear I pretty much stay basic. Penn blue grease and CorrosionX oil. Penn grease has been around a long time, it works great and it's not expensive. On baitcasting reels I usually will use bearing oil. I like the boca bearing oil but I'm sure the others are fine too. Bearing oil is thinner, helps casting. People have their favorites, I've tried them all at one time or another. Any fishing branded grease will work well. I like CorrosionX oil but I also use it a lot with saltwater reels so I have lots of it. Saltwater is a different animal entirely. I use either Krytox 225 or CorrosionX grease and 95% of the time CorrosionX oil. Corrosion is the enemy of performance.
Great video. Do you have one for tearing down the handle? My knob bearing got rust in it, from freshwater. I’m not sure if it doesn’t come apart or if it’s rusted. Handle knob spins but rough. Handle itself and reel are still very smooth.
Waaay too much grease in my opinion. Grease on gears and inside of housing, oil on bearings. I'm sure it'll work fine, just extra goopy. Should help battling corrosion from salt water tho.
My spring flew half way across my garage, god only knows where it landed, is there any way to replace the spring or do I gotta toss the whole reel Edit: I found it online, it's called a clutch spring if anyone els had this issue😅
great video. You saved my day, when you showed the details of the bail spring placement. Thanks.

I thought the same. Very little grease is needed.
My ocd was screaming throughout your video 😅

@@tackleboxtonyy I do also use cals universal drag grease on any carbontex, HT100 type drag washers. It's good stuff.

Boldly going where no man has gone before....
What are you talking about?
Grate ..your the best 👌
Thank you, I had to replace a broken bail arm and needed to see how the spring fit in there. Thanks again.
pro tip : you can watch movies at kaldrostream. Been using it for watching all kinds of movies these days.
@Jayce Marcelo Yup, I have been using kaldroStream for since november myself =)
Thanks for sharing. Now I'm not so worried about tearing mine down for service.....
My new xt bait caster sounds completely dry when I cast, makes me want to do this
What kind of grease did you use?
It was spinning worse when he put it back together did you see it !!!

This was useful, thank you
I just got this reel and the handle is broken. It either falls off or is too tight to fully spin the reel. It appears that they left a part out.
My spring flew half way across my garage, god only knows where it landed, is there any way to replace the spring or do I gotta toss the whole reel
Edit: I found it online, it's called a clutch spring if anyone els had this issue😅
It is easy to remove the handle if you remove it first before removing the rotor
How well do you think the supreme xt would hold up to salt water fishing?
Great feel but you’ll ruin it in the salt.
@@6atlantis ok Thanks
