Meadow Brook Hall was built by John Dodge's widow and her second husband. It is not in Grosse Pointe (about 33 miles away in Rochester, MI). Horace Dodge's widow Anna built her mansion, Rose Terrace, in G.P.; but it was demolished in 1976. I remember the docent stating that the Van Gogh was donated to the Detroit Art Institute more because of its probable value than from generosity (better security in the museum). Overall, an excellent video.
Thank you for your feedback and information.
I’m so glad to hear from someone who knows the history of the dodge family. I have a high end piece of luggage train case which my grandmother gave to me from an estate sale. Inside of it is a glass luggage tag that reads Mrs.Percival dodge. Gross point,Michigan I’ve always wondered if it was significant to the dodge family?
@@ThekimG313 From what I can find: No. His family were the Dodges of the Phelps-Dodge mining company (also very rich). He was born in NYC and later moved to Grosse Pointe. He was Director of Social Agencies and the Detroit Community Fund.
Well Edsel’s home certainly seems adequate. Seriously the mansions and grounds of the Ford family look lovey. I love touring mansions and learning about the people who lived there. Thanks for the tour!
It is one of the biggest mansions I have been too
We toured the house and grounds a few years ago….our tour guide was excellent, very knowledgeable about the house, family and history of the area. The whole property is gorgeous….

That is a really beautiful mansion. Henry Ford did so much for the car industry. But they don't make em like they used to.
Thank you so much
very fancy!
Agreed. Thank you for watching.
thumbs up 👍🍀🔥
Thank you
Nice tour and thanks for coming to Michigan however a correction; you show the exterior of the Dodge Mansion in Rochester and have it listed as the John F. Dodge home. That's incorrect.....his Widow Matilda built it after his death with her new Husband, lumber baron Alfred Wilson. John Dodge had started, before his death in 1920, a HUGE, similar English Tudor castle on Lake Shore Drive in the GP Farms. Matilda removed all that she wanted from that house and installed it into Meadowbrook Hall. The house was torn down in the early 1940's. I grew up and still live less than 5 minutes from the E&E Ford Estate and know it like the back of my hand and I'm also a lifelong Grosse Pointer and am on the Board of the Grosse Pointe Historical Society.
Thank you so much for the information
🏠 Pipe Organ! 🫁😂
Thank you
You should check out Meadowbrook Hall. Home of Matlitda Dodge.
I wanted to. But we had to go catch our plane
Man, I wonder how long they can keep these places open. My guess is they have a trust account that will keep the operations on for hundreds of years. LIKE 13. 👍👍👍
Thank you so much
Most of these great homes around the country were either donated to the state, or demolish by the families. And the land underneath sold off. Because the enormous cost of upkeep, would eat up their assets.
Thank you for your feedback
Any of the Ford's living, Grand children
Yes and executives of Ford Motor Company
Next you should go to Eminem's trailer.
😀

FYI, this video was so front-loaded with ads that I stopped watching before it began.
