Thank you for the video! I started growing trees and bushes a couple years ago and it’s definitely a great business to start. I started out growing plants for my 10 acres of treeless property. I couldn’t afford the hundreds of trees and bushes I wanted to plant so I bought some seeds and found some plants to take cuttings from. After a year or so people started asking if I would sell them, so I did. How much money you can make depends on how much your willing to put in. The sky really is the limit.
I grew about 60 milkweed plants just to give away. I got two caterpillars after a week! It cost me $5. from seeds. Also I grew coleus and all the seeds germinated , got over a hundred.
Thanks Mike from Ireland. I started this year propagating from one of your videos and have weeping willow and grape vines going well so far In my glasshouse I just erected this year.
Thank you!! What an inspiration! Thank you for caring about others, wanting to share your ideas and success with others. God bless you! I will definitely be watching and taking a lot of notes! Love your heart on this. Again, God bless you both ✝️❤️
Mike you the homie for sure! I love the tips and motivation because I’m working on setting up a nursery myself starting with an eastern red cedar tree that is like 30 years old that I’m about to take like 1k cutting from and grow out for a year! Thanks so much and I’ll be doing some catching up on your channel!
After seeing how lovely the dappled willow are, I cut some of mine so I can have a nice pretty hedge along my vacation rental property. They are beautiful in the wind and boy do they grow F A S T!!!!! Mine got up to 6-8 feet in one season starting with a two gallon nursery pot! 😳 wish I had started some last year. I’d have that hedge by now!!!
Good to see you back on RUclips, Mike with that independent, work for yourself, be your own boss, homestead economic philosophy. To the conformist corporate establishment, you're kind of a rebel. I like it. Keep on keeping on.
I am very thankful to have found you on RUclips appreciate all the information time effort and simplicity yet step by step basics you put into your videos creating your videos is not simple this I know so just know you are greatly appreciated and respected in many different ways..... @Kanikapila Ho'ohanai You know what is going on...rural areas is where these cities, villages, etc... will be...& yes, God told me to get out of Babylon in Dec 2015...& stop feeding the beast...& follow Him...exactly what I have done...
Found your channel trying to learn about cuttings. Hopefully I can get some of the cuttings started so I can plant them in my yard. If that goes well maybe I'll grow a few to sell or give away too.
I think the difference between the "small guys" and the big box stores, is we are gardeners, we care, we know the lore and the care of these plants. We connect to the customer, unlike the big stores that just bring the plants in on a semi and toss them in the trash when they aren't blooming anymore. Thanks for the videos, Mike! =)
@nimrodian Same here. But they can only do so much and they are few and far between. I have had some take me to plants, mostly perennials, that were just marked down and tell me it is all because the stopped blooming! Of course I have to buy them lol
I need a little extra income to save myself and own a field that’s about 1 acre in size. Thank you for helping me find a way that I could create a little extra income.
@@davelawson2564 That's a learned skill just like gardening and gets easier with time. Depends on the person and their interests as well but everyone can improve.
It's not just putting sticks in the ground and people start giving you money. There's time and seasons and learning and a ton of legalities that you won't even know until you start doing it. Of course its doable, and I do it, but not as easy as he makes it seem that's all.
I love your videos. But I wish you would but the names of the plants in the description of your video. I live in zone 9 in houston and maybe some of your plants would not do well here. But do love the videoa.
Wow! Wonderful! So smart! Do you use rooting hormone? Can you give us a step by step video? And do you sell these plants online? Where can i get some? Im in pa.
I am unhappy with the sand available in my area. It has to much clay I think and it holds water a long time. Thinking of mixing it with soil amendment, which is basically fine pine tree bark. What do you think?
Thanks Mike. Growing them not the problem. Selling them is a different story. I really don't want to turn my driveway into a permanent garage sale & hauling them to the Farmers Market every week isn't proving to be very lucrative for us.
Im just got started this yr . I have a few plants . The problem I have is iam from Louisiana, its hot here in the summer . Any suggestions on what pants are good for this area. And it good to see new videos thanks mike
Mike I have watched some of your videos several times. I enjoy your instructional methods and your down home approach. Do you specifically look for plants that are not trademarked or patented? As a new propagator any plant that does not have a tag that says Patent Pending or Trademarked name is fair game propagating? This must be very time consuming shopping for plain cultivars but keeps you on the right side of the law! No short cut around this is there?
Yeah, easily done if you've got a massive yard, my garden is tiny, it's about 3 times the size of that shed there . I would do anything for a few acres, that to me is also wealth -- the more land you have, the more opportunity you have.
Where they hardwood cuttings and did you have at least 3 nodes on them? I tried this last year as well and they all rooted. Also, if you didn't, use rooting hormone and pierce the"skin" of the cutting on the base of it, where you use the rooting hormone.
SJ R, i am a 50 year old man, and have been around this stuff a little bit, and i have heard of all these plants... except maybe 2 of the arborvitaes, he named several in the beginning, i don't know about the license, but they are popular plants
Thank you for the video!

Mike, you are one of the guys I admire most when it comes to Plant knowledge and profits!
Awesome channel, I'm starting up my nursery this spring selling vegetable seedlings. Any business that you can do at home is saving money.
Mike love your show. Thanks for sharing
I started doing this a few months ago. I already have 30 saplings that are growing strong. I am out of room now!

Brilliant.

If you're passionate about plants and working outdoors it's not as much like work to some.

Definitely going to try this again. I tried last year but forgot about them 😬😬😬
Your videos are so informative. Thank you. I’m curious how you ship some of these plants if you’re someone planning to sell online.

Mike... YOO da man ! 😎🚬
Mike, when do you root your hydrangea winter or spring and will they root in sand
I have time, money and desire to start but I can't find hardwood cuttings online or locally 😒. Mike's member page is closed to new members

thanks
Mandevilla is a great flowering vine in the heat
nimrodian thanks. Thats a great idea
Can i propagate on the summer in june in minnesota? Tgey arevtaking the mother tress down i want to propigate all i can
Where do you live to be able to propagate stuff just uncovered, full sun ? Stuff would 100% bake to a crisp where I live!

You could easily do a 1000 plants in one little corner just sell them younger before potting up to gallon maybe the size of a cup
I am literally using a 8x6 porch to grow my plants. You can cry about it or you can do something about it.
I tried sticking grape vine sticks in sand (sandbox sand), over wintered them, and none of the dozen grew roots. Any suggestions?
Dummy. you grow them in spring and water daily if you want them to survive and thrive.
Where they hardwood cuttings and did you have at least 3 nodes on them? I tried this last year as well and they all rooted. Also, if you didn't, use rooting hormone and pierce the"skin" of the cutting on the base of it, where you use the rooting hormone.
